One was 420 MB and the other was 130 MB in size. They asked me why one movie was so much larger in size than the other. Well, I had converted one movie from .ogg format to mp3 format, and forgot to change the Bit from 320 to perhaps 128 with my "Switch" converter. The other smaller size movie was already in mp3 format, so that one I did not have to convert to mp3 as my friend cannot open and play .ogg files in their Windows Media Player, they do not have the "Plug-in" I have. Now, sorry to be so long about this question, but I had a hard time explaining the difference in a audio file with a bit rate of 320 as opposed to a smaller size bit rate. I know when uploading or downloading I get a message stating I am uploading at a bit rate of for example 50.5 KB/sec, and I download at around 750 KB/sec, but how does one state the Bit Rate of an "Audio file"? I mean, it is not KB/sec as when you are uploading or downloading. I do not know what or how you would call the Bit rate of an "Audible File", does some one have a clear explanation that I can understand? I would very much appreciate it! Thanks for the information. I use CDEX for ripping full commercial CD's I have, but unfortunately all these CD's I have were a hodge-podge of songs that I had on my computer. You can easily ripthe songs from the audio CD back to a MP3 file. Give it a try, perhaps the ripping software has gotten smarter and can recognize the individual songs. Software that rips songs from a CD uses a bunch of information from an entire commercial CD to recognize the CD. It looks this information, like the length of each song, to match it to known CDs in a datavase on the Internet. The database then can provide the tag information for each song. If the songs on the CD you burnt were a mix from several commercial CDs, it is probably impossible. Re: [Blind-Computing] THanks. nls figured out
Marilyn, Reading what I wrote here might seem unclear to you, so what I meant to say was, when you unzip a book it goes into it's own folder with the name of that book. The unzipped book remains in it's original format also listed. So you have 2 occurances of the book as folders listed on your desired drive. BARD suggest to keep the zipped one in case something happens to the one unzipped, and that way, you have it so as not to have to redownload it again. Maybe invest in an external hard drive to store books and the like? [Blind-Computing] Thanks for all the help Re: Was - Recovering deleted files
Thank you all for your help. I'll try these programs when I get home later. Thank you again for your help! - Original Message - From: "DoubleLegal" To: "Blind Computer Users" Sent: Saturday, January 31, 2009 4:31 AM Subject: [Blind-Computing] Recovering deleted files Hello everyone, I accidentally deleted a couple of folders on an external hard drive. These were large folders so they were not sent to the recycle bin. These folders had hundreds, if not thousands of small files. I have not written anything to this external hard drive since I did this. Is there a program out there that I could use to recover these files from this external hard drive? I had not realized this before, but evidently the Windows + JAWS + x keystroke seems to be new with JAWS 10! It does not work in version 9. Then you can paste the combined contents with Control +v as normal. Another handy clipboard keystroke is Windows +Insert + x to hear the contents of the clipboard. [Blind-Computing] Thanks for the suggestions
I want to thank all who sent suggestions for assistive technology for me to pass along to my friend. I have forwarded them all to her as well as my own request that Norton be made screen reader usable since I have two years left on my subscription and trust it. But I did not re-install it after my computer crash last November since I only had minimal use of it with Hot Spot Clicker and I would have had to start all over again with that. If anyone has or knows of any scripts for Norton I would love to know about it. Re: [Blind-Computing] (Thanks David, I think it's working now) adjusting tracks when burning CD's using WMP10
Thank you for these tips David. I went in and entered on arrange icons by name. This may have done the trick. At least so far, every time I copy tracks into the CD drive, they are in order.
