Re: [Blind-Computing] Komando Website for Sunday

2009-03-22 Thread Jacob Kruger
Did the same thing for me, but I'll tell you the page seems to really have
way too much content on one page, so I think Jaws populating it's virtual
buffer is the issue.

For example, it did initially tell me there were 257 headings on the page,
and unless they've just labelled way too many things as headings, it's
really likely there's just too much content on the one page.

I'm also running Jaws 10, on a windows XP pro machine, but only have SP2 on
it, but have just moved over to IE 8 if that means anything.

Stay well

Re: [Blind-Computing] Komando Website for Sunday

2009-03-22 Thread Victor
Hi Deb,

It did the same for me, and I think what Jacob is saying is correct about
the buffer.

I'm wondering why this is so, as it shouldn't be.

While I can understand Jaws having this negative side effect with large
buffering, is there something we can do in order to minimize this problem.

I mean, I literally had to restart my computer, as no screen reader I tried
to bring up would come on.

Even NVDA, which is usually my fall back when Jaws locks up on me, as NVDA
seems to be indestructible in most instances where Jaws fears to tread,
smile, didn't want to come on this time.

Anyone have any ideas?

Re: [Blind-Computing] Komando Website for Sunday

2009-03-22 Thread Deb Caldbeck
Victor, glad it wasn't just me. I kept having to go to the desktop to get
JAWS to activate on its own again. I did not try any other speech programs.
I immediately ranSuper AntiSpyware. Then after asking for help I tried the
site on Fire Fox, and it worked just fine with JAWS 10 and XP Pro.

Isn't it amazing how there is just enough news each day to fill the
newspapers?

Hi Deb,

If it means anything, I did receive a phishing filter alert when I did bring
up the site, so I'm wondering if there may not have been some kind of other
problem with the site.

I don't know, but I'm going to get my brother to check it out tomorrow to
see if he detects anything in the source code.

Will let you know if anything develops.
