Click on Magic Jack in your system trey. Use the application key and go down to advanced users. Click on that. You will be given choices. One of which is My Magic Jack. Click on this. You will be asked for your Magic Jack telephone number or e-mail address, and your Magic Jack password. After logging in you will be given a call forwarding button on which to click. Call forwarding will be disabled by default. You can choose the number to which you want your calls forwarded. After enabling call forwarding calls may be forwarded. - Original Message - From: "JanetSmith" To: Sent: Friday, April 30, 2010 7:57 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Magicjack amnot sure how to do call fowardiong either but you could go to www.magicjack.co and go to their faq section and type in that questionAt 11:10 PM 4/29/2010, you wrote: Janet smith; I've had magicjack here in Canada but don't know how to get call forwarding that you mentiioned in your e mail; I think you also mentiioned another one or two functions I've forgotten whilst writing this e mail; could you passthe key functions on to me via e mail ok? Re: [Blind-Computing] Magicjack
No, you plug the device in to your USB port. It prompts for an e-mail address, pass word, and asks for your physical address for 911 support. It suggests you use another phone for 911, as it isn't practical to practice using the 911 service. When accessing my Magic Jack services one uses one's e-mail address or ones Magic Jack telephone number along with ones pass word. You must use the computer to forward calls to other numbers. Magic Jack sends wav attachments of voice mail messages. You can save them for future reference if need be. Even if the wav attachments aren't saved, the message can be saved with the telephone number from which the message came for future reference. The free 411 service is used for directory assistance. Call waiting and three way calling is also available. But, I haven't figured out exactly how to use three way calling. There is an explanation on the site for its use. But, I haven't been able to make it work for me. Also, if you have friends abroad. Purchase for them Magic Jack, and they can make calls to their friends in America without charge. They will be given an American area code and telephone number. One can also choose whatever area code he wants. He is not restricted to his local area code. I had a friend who chose a New York area code while living somewhere else. The quality is as good as it is when using most cellular phones. You can use the Magic Jack device with a USB head set, as I understand skype is used, or with an orthodox telephone hand set. You can make telephone calls throughout America, Canada, and the Caribbean free of charge. If one wants to make international calls one just adds funds to ones Magic Jack account for this purpose. I have spoken to friends with relatives abroad. They tell me the rates are comparable to most international telephone cards. There are those critical of Magic Jack. If you Google Magic Jack you can find all sorts of blogs, and such both praising and condemning the product. There is also a rather good knowledge base on the site which can be accessed. It might be nice to let whatever infomercial play through else it will interfere with the screen reader if the screen reader is also played through the speakers. I use USB head phones for listening to my screen reader. So, when I want to access the general site, I can just turn off the speakers. The infomercial doesn't play when one access his own account to make whatever changes which he wants to make. Look at the blogs and do your own research prior to its purchase. - Original Message - From: "John Justice" To: Sent: Thursday, April 29, 2010 5:26 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Magicjack Angel, isn't there some kind of code that you have to provide to the web site when you are setting the unit up? Re: [Blind-Computing] Magicjack
Yes, Time Warner has what they call a "life line" program. Though why it is called that I will never know. As cable service isn't essential for anyone's living. It gives me the bare minimum of cable service. Which is 24 or so channels. I got it originally, as I didn't want to purchase one of those converter boxes. I live alone and didn't know how much assistance would be required with its setting up. I watch very little television. So, I was glad to save the money. What I am doing now is to pay on my cellular bill ahead so, if I should ever want to leave the company, Verizon will either want to negotiate the price of a new phone, or data plan, or will have to give me a phone without contract, or will have to reimburse me a hell of a lot of money if I switched cellular companies. After all, they make those with cellular contracts pay for early termination. Why shouldn't they have to take a little of their own medicine? I am doing the same with cable, and my internet provider. So, if I should want to upgrade it won't cost anything up front. Or, should I need to spend money on other things, such as my car, I have to get it made safe for e-check, and have new tags put on it this year, I won't have to pay the companies for a few months till my equipoise is regained. - Original Message - From: "Stewart A Overbey, Jr." To: Sent: Thursday, April 29, 2010 11:32 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Magicjack $10 for Cable? -- From: Sent: Thursday, April 29, 2010 11:29 AM To: Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Magicjack I still am satisfied with magic Jack as my sole telephone service save for my cellular service. I have been so since 08. All I can advise is that you give it a try. You can always return it before 30 days if you aren't satisfied. I paid 60 dollars for a five year license. I now only pay 20 dollars monthly for my internet service, and 10 dollars monthly for cable service. You can't beat that with a white stick I say. - Original Message - From: "eden" To: Sent: Thursday, April 29, 2010 9:25 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Magicjack I am not one to but in, but magicjack is horrible. It has been quit a while sence I set it up, but the voice mail is set up thrue the hand set. As for a coad I don't remember having to type one in. You just had to type the address in for the 911 feetcher. The call forwarding is great, and the sound quality is great as long as you use a multy handset phone.
