I have found out that I can not use audacity on my system. When I launch it
it cuts out my sound card including jaws and I can't get it back unless I
reboot the pc. Not sure what the issue is.

I use either audacity, or on windows7, sometimes, it's built in sound
recorder works alright for me, but, here's a link to a guide for using
audacity along with jaws:

Hello. I am looking for recommendations for an audio recording
application that will record audio input through the sound card. I would
like this to be accessible with JAWS as much as possible. I have tried
some but so far no luck. Anyone got any suggestions?

2011-12-23 Thread Jacob Kruger
Strange, since it works fine on both my older windowsXP machines, and my
newer windows7 machines, but anyway.

Can only think that it's default audio input source, or something is
interfering with the PC's sound output, but anyway.

To test/see if the computer has actually muted completely, try something
like hitting left shift 5 times in quick succession to initiate/bring up the
sticky keys dialogue, since, on windows XP, that comes up with a rather
noticeable sound, and takes focus away from other apps, and you can then
just hit escape to cancel it if it doesn't help at all.

Brad,
You didn't say which version of Windows you have, but you might check
on Total Recorder from www.high-criteria.com (hopefully that's the
website, if not Google can surely direct you.) This is supposed to
work with Windows 7 though I've yet to test it, not sure about Vista.
It's not free but you should be able to do what you want.

Well, skype should have it's own recording built in, but not too sure, and I
generally use audacity for external audio source recording, although you
can, apparently on XP invoke a form of virtual audio source to record all
audio output, but, I generally work on windows7 64 bit, so not too sure
about that, but, yes audacity works on both XP, and 7, etc., and if you get
hold of the lame MP3 component, you can save/export audio tracks directly to
MP3 if you want.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] audio recording software

Hello. I am looking for recommendations for an
audio recording application that will record
audio input through the sound card. I would
like this to be accessible with JAWS as much
as possible. I have tried some but so far no luck. Anyone got any
 suggestions?

Sorry about that. It is www.highcriteria.com without the dash, smile.
If you need to do more complex editing you're probably better off with
Sound Forge or Goldwave. Good luck.
