[BlindHandyMan] Almost show time

2008-01-17 Thread Steve S.
Once again, it's almost show time.
On the BHM show this week, we talk with Tom Houston, then talk about some list
mail, then we do a Birth day wish, right before we call our guest. Our guest
name is Roger Hinck, him and his wife, raze miniature, horses. A most
interesting conversation. In fact we talked to Roger until the end of the
show.
On the BLM show this week Phil talks with a interesting sounding young Lady
named Karen Myers. Sounds like she has got a good life going, and she will
tell us about some books that she has written. To find out more about all
that, you can download from the following links

BHM http://www.sendspace.com/file/29iznt

BLM http://www.sendspace.com/file/wanwi1

Are you can listen this week end on ACB radio, are you can listen on many
reading radio services, in the States and Canada.
Have a fine week.

I have a fiberglass bathtub that has the step outside of the tub. My question

I have several cordless power tools but I'd like to find a small generator or
portable power supply for the times I am in my shed or in the yard and need
power for my tools that aren't cordless.
My shed is over 100 feet from the nearest power supply and some of the bushes
we need to trim are even further. I bought a cordless hedge trimmer that works
pretty good, but if we forget to charge it, well you know.
I have a drill I really like to use for some things and it is corded.
I have been searching some of the hardware giants but seem only able to find
monster generators to help me out if my home loses it's electricity.
  Thanks, the tool collector.

Re: [BlindHandyMan] Re: Question about soaking the air cleaner oil foam in my new lawn mower

2007-05-06 Thread Steve S.
I would use an butter bowl, the three pound size and put it under your mower so
the oil can drain into it. Then after that, I would get a gallon milk jug with
the lid, and I would get an fondled and put it into the jug so I don't get it
all over the jug when I poured it into the jug. pour the oil into it. After I
get the jug full, then I would take it to an gas station so they can get rid of
it for you.

  Steve,

You know what, I looked at the bottle wrong. It is a pint (pt.). I'll
get this stuff down someday. I'll ask at the gas station when I walk up
there. I still don't know what to do with the old oil. What do you
drain that into? I have two auto parts stores within walking distance
from me. Would they have something for me to use? Thanks again guys.
I wish my dad would have taught me this stuff, not just my brother. :)

Re: [BlindHandyMan] Re: Question about soaking the air cleaner oil foam in my new lawn mower

2007-05-05 Thread Steve S.
On the bottle, the numbers 100 to 600 is c c, and the numbers 1 to 20 is oz.
I think the best way to drain the oil, is from underneath.
you need to keep the under neath side of the mower, clean. once in a while,
which is a year, you need to oil around where the blade is on.

  Roger,

Thanks for the excellent info. When you say "keep the underneath
greased up", what do you mean? I just located the oil capacity. It
says 20 oz. or 0.6 litters. I stated incorrectly the size of the
bottle, it is a pt. not a quart. Sorry about that. The bottle has
numbers on the side with the little window line. One side goes from
  100 to 600 and the other side goes from 1 to 20. I haven't a clue
what this means. I have a funnel to use. The mower has a dip stick.
I has some visible moisture at the end. Now, where is says "fill
line", it is above what looks like a criss cross pattern. Do I fill
to the top of the crisscross pattern or the bottom of it. My dip
stick is grayish black so it is going to be tricky. My book says I
can drain it from the side by tipping it over or from the bottom by
removing a drain plug with a ratchet. Which is easier and less messy?
Again, thank you so much for helping me with this. I really
  appreciate it.

  Vicki

Re: [BlindHandyMan] Re: Question about soaking the air cleaner oil foam in my new lawn mower

2007-05-04 Thread Steve S.
I am not sure how to get rid of the old gas. You need to get new gas. The old
gas, may have got some water in it, and it will not work good in a new lawn
mower. If I am not mistaken, you don't use the whole quart of oil in the mower.
I think you need about one or two pints of oil.

  Larry,

No the book just says to use engine oil. The mower did come with a
quart of oil from the manufacture. So should I use the whole quart
the first time? Oh, and when I do drain it what should I drain it
into? Along that line, I have old gas from last year in my gas can.
Should I use it?, and if not what is a safe way to dispose of it?
Thanks guys. Just wanta take good care of my new baby. :) I'm a
  Tomboy what can I say.

We had a visit from the contractor who does PMs on our heating and cooling
equipment this morning. The technician found nothing wrong, except that the
furnace filter was in the slot backwards. I've always wondered about whether
there was a right or wrong direction to place these, but I can't for the life
of me tell the diffference by feel.

These are just basic one inch filters with a cardboard frame.
Do any of you folks have techniques for determining this?
  Thanks.

  Steve,
I'm not sure there is a talking meat thermometer out there, but
Ann Morris has a modified visual unit with the glass removed and
pop rivets inserted around the edge of the scale every 20
  degrees.

it is intended for checking baked stuff from the oven, so not
sure if it's appropriate for grilling, but it responds in less
than a minute once inserted into the meat.

Besides it's only about twelve bucks and needs no bloody
  batteries.

  Such a deal!

I use it all the time on roasts etc. and it's great.

  Absolutely...

Just make certain to notch the tree on the side to which you want the tree
  to fall.
Be certain their are no overhead utilities, other trees that might create a
widow maker for you and no neighbor's cars parked in the way on tree
  falling day.

  Good luck.
