Sounds like tye rod problems.

Not sure but if that is the problem you need to park that thing
untill you can get it fixed. If a tye rod givs up the ghost stearing
is impossable!

I'm laughing as now I can say to others here" I told you so . it is
a 318 ". thanks for those tips Bob. now I need to wait until the
truck reappears. seems as the kid took off for the North country.
Isn't it interesting that until we have a problem with a car or truck
we do not find out what really is under the hood. thanks.Lee

Re: [BlindHandyMan] How is your front end?

2008-06-26 Thread Bob Kennedy
Lee,

Don't know how much looking around you've done on that engine, but it is a 318
minus 2 cylinders. The pistons lifters valves are all the same sizes there's
just less of them.

If you ever develop a rear main seal leak, buy the seal for the 318. It's a 2
piece and will go right in and work. The 6 cylinder uses a rope seal and I
watched 3 different guys screw them up on the same truck when I worked for
Dodge. Finally it came to my bay and I went to parts and ordered the seal for
a 318. Took about 2 hours to change it out and never heard from the guy
again...

The service manager wanted to know why I was able to fix it when 3 other guys
couldn't. I asked him if he gave it to me to fix or screw up like they did. I
couldn't share my secret because of warranty issues but the crank measured
exactly the same diameter as the 318 so that was my cure...

2008-06-26 Thread Mike & Barbara
Hi Lee,

Your best bet is to get that truck up on a hoist and thoroughly check out
the front end. It could be a number of things like a bad Idler arm, a bad
ball joint, or bad control arm bushings. These are all guesses and hard to
surmise without actually driving or looking at the vehicle. I have rebuilt
hundreds of front ends but they were all older vehicles. There are many
reasons why your truck can be doing what it is doing and I for one would not
want to jeopardize your safety by guessing. So please get it checked out.
Take care.

all of a sudden your front end is all overy the place. seemingly
rolling from side to side until you get settled back down. Maybe this

Shocks control up and down not side to side. So don't push it away from you so
much as trying to lift up on the fender under the wheel and see how easy it
moves. It will feel like it is rolling side to side but it isn't. Another way
they used to teach was to put your knee on the bumper and then put all your
weight on that knee. Then stand up and see if it continues to bounce. If it
goes down and back up and doesn't stop there is a problem with the shocks.

[BlindHandyMan] How is your front end?

2008-06-26 Thread Lee A. Stone

Imagine if you would that you are riding in a 2000 Dodge sport six
medium size pickup truck and you hit a decent size bump in the road.
all of a sudden your front end is all overy the place. seemingly
rolling from side to side until you get settled back down. Maybe this
truck has been mis used as a four wheel drive in a farmers field when it
is only a two wheel drive. any opinions as to why this front end would
feel like it is all over the place would be appreciated. It is my kids
truck and I do not think it is safe out on the road. just my opinion.
