[BlindHandyMan] Keeping Grass Off A Fence

2007-03-09 Thread Bill Gallik
I have a mesh fence to help keep my dog in the backyard but I find that
grass grows up into the meshing and is all but impossible to trim neatly off
the fencing. Does anybody have advice as to what I might place along the
bottom of the fence to keep the grass from growing into the fencing? I was
thinking of some sort of barrier that would be about 6 inches wide and lay
under the fencing so to prevent grass from growing into the mesh wiring.

Aloha Bill,
This may not be something you'd do, but a friend of mine sprays
roundup about every four months along his fence. He tried putting
bricks along there, but the grass still grew. Of course, we live in
Hawaii and plants, weeds and grass grow everywhere.

2007-03-09 Thread Rob Monitor
Hi, There is some thing that is like a cloth type that people put down in
gardens to keep out the weeds. You buy it in big rolls I think 3 foot wide and
how ever long like 20 feet. You could cut it in smaller pieces and put it under
your fence.

2007-03-09 Thread Brice Mijares
This is where you need to have a good relationship with your neighbor. I'd
ask him to spray a 4 or 5 inch border using roundup along the fence line
once in a while. Doing this would also eliminate the use of a weed whacker
along the fence line. I'd even offer the use of my own roundup.

2007-03-09 Thread Ron or Susan Denis
I have come across but never used plastic borders for keeping grass from
fences, drives, and the like. These were solid but somewhat flexible
plastic strips about 6-8 inches in width. Don't know how well they work.
They were available at garden sections of stores like Lowe's and Home Depot.
