Re: [BlindHandyMan] router for router table
Last march I purchased a Triton 3.25 HP model of router which I eventually intend to use in a router table. It is a heavy and big beast, a plunge router. You probably don't require the plunge facility too much in a table, I am thinking I will fit a router jack though one day so I can raise the router into the work when needed rather than dropping the work over a moving bit and will be glad enough to have the plunge capability then. Makita makes a router with similar specifications but I haven't seen it. I am generally happy with this Triton, in some ways I will be sorry to consign it to a table, it has an excellent fence and circle cutting jig arrangement which is very easy to instal and remove which I really like, only one of the type I have ever seen. It was on sale at Busybee Tools for $325 last March , seems to be selling for around $500 now but I do see the Makita come on sale for a little over $300 from time-to-time. Hope this helps. Re: [BlindHandyMan] router for router table
With my Freud router, I can put it in a table or use it for hand routing. To put it in a table, I just put 3 screws through a plate and drop the plate and router into the table. earlier, Dale Leavens, wrote: Last march I purchased a Triton 3.25 HP model of router which I eventually intend to use in a router table. Re: [BlindHandyMan] router for router table
It is advantageous to use a plunge router for this application. Removing the counter balance springs is a real advantage for a router that is dedicated for use in a router table. This makes height adjustment a breeze. Make sure it will use both 1/4n and 1/2 shank router bits. Find one that is very powerful and variable speed. It is a lot easier to use one that uses one wrench and a spindle lock rather than one that uses 2 wrenches to change bits. Go and put them in your hands to look at them before putting down the money. - Original Message - From: Tom Huhn To: blind Sent: Sunday, January 07, 2007 11:08 AM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] router for router table BlankHi guys, what is a good router for a router tableup to 3hp thanks Tom [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] -- No virus found in this incoming message.
