Are you using the Solarspeed AV-Spam package?

[BlueOnyx:19478] Re: Roundcube problem sending email

2016-04-18 Thread Colin Jack
Bodged it by putting an entry for that IP in the hosts file and allowing
relaying for localhost ... but we don't see this on any of our other servers.
Doesn't happen on any of our other RC servers.

Odd, but working! ;)

[BlueOnyx:19477] Roundcube problem sending email

2016-04-18 Thread Colin Jack
We have installed the Solarspeed Roundcube WHAM but all the users cannot send
email using RC.

Getting "Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed [192.168.10.254]"

Our servers are behind a firewall and that is the IP of the LAN interface.

It is only with roundcube that we see this - users using smtpauth can relay
mail through this server quite happily.
NAT is all setup and working fine. HELO looks fine:

>>> EHLO pegasus.mainline.co.uk
250-mail4.vsn.voltage.com Hello pegasus.mainline.co.uk [87.127.234.5], pleased
to meet you

Any ideas? I'm a bit stumped as to why it is only Roundcube (so local IMAP)
that has this problem.

Hi Greg,

On 27/07/2016, 23:27, "Blueonyx on behalf of Greg Kuhnert"
 wrote:

I just wanted to add some thoughts on this announcement. Michael has I think
underplayed the importance of this news, but I think this great news for
everyone that runs BlueOnyx. In fact, I would recommend anyone planning to
build a new BlueOnyx server to install Aventurin{e} first.

With Aventurin{e}, you get the ability to do server level backups. Other backup
tools out there do stuff at a vsite and codb level, which is still important to
do… but what about your custom tweaks and hacks in other parts of your server?
Aventurin{e} backup creates a full duplicate copy of every file on your server.

Its also easy to migrate/move a server. New hardware? No problem. Just move the
entire VPS to a new aventurine blade on new hardware.

New server builds take forever? Not with Aventurine. I just did a test install
of 5209R on my existing Aventurin{e} node that already has 13 other servers
running. It took less than two minutes to install from the latest template. Try
doing that from an ISO?

And what about the dark side of the moon? We all hate that time when you need
to reboot blueonyx, hoping it will come back. Instead, rebooting blue onyx
inside an Aventurin{e} console means you still have IP connectivity to the
console and you can get back on your server a lot quicker.

Those are just a few items that I wanted to share. This will be a big win for
all Blueonyx users…

Greg

Absolutely spot on – I have never understood why anybody running BX for
anything other than home use doesn’t run on Aventurin{e} … even before it was
free.

It has saved my a* many a time – even when I have had to pay Michael to repair
broken VPS from the CLI. ☺

This is a major gift to the community.

Hello all,

Usually we keep our projects separated, but there is some exciting news
from the commercial Aventurin{e} side of the BlueOnyx family:

Aventurin{e} 6108R has been released and the new terms and conditions of
the licensing now make the "Blade Edition" of it available to everyone
without purchase.

Aventurin{e} has been around since late 2006 in various iterations and
uses the same GUI interface as BlueOnyx to provide easy management of
Virtual Private Servers. It uses OpenVZ as virtualization engine and can
therefore "only" run Linux VPS's at this time. However, it runs BlueOnyx
VPS's exceptionally fine and www.blueonyx.it as well as the entire
development and mirror architecture has always been run on Aventurin{e}.

So if you don't know Aventurin{e} yet, then you might want to give it a
test ride. The ISO image of it is available via the BlueOnyx mirrors or
directly at the Aventurin{e} website.

If you already use Aventurin{e} 6106R, then you can easily upgrade your
existing 6106R to 6108R via a YUM update. A guide for that is provided
in the FAQ section on the Aventurin{e} website.

[BlueOnyx:19895] Re: Pear mail.php

2016-07-27 Thread Colin Jack
Hi Michael,

Like Dudi said: This is a cert validation error. It looks like the Pear

class Mail.php always defaults to using TLS and if the certificate fails

validation, the sending of email fails.

Two ways around that: Get a real certificate (even a "Let's Encrypt"

cert might do).

Ah okay. I have a ‘proper’ certificate on there (wildcard *.mainline.co.uk) but
connections are seeing a self-signed cert:

openssl s_client -connect hermes.mainline.co.uk:25 -starttls smtp

I will have to ‘dig’ … looks like the cert isn’t installed correctly.

Or: Disable TLS/SSL in PEAR::Mail.

See https://www.authsmtp.com/php-pear-mail/

That explains an edit somewhere near line 590 where TLS usage can be

turned off.

Always good to have a plan B ;)

Thanks Michael and Dudi.

I thought it would be

What
> shows when you issue this at CLI?
> # rpm -qa | grep "pear"

[root@pegasus ~]# rpm -qa |grep pear
php-pear-Mail-1.1.14-1.el6.noarch

So yes it is.

This is the error the customer is getting:

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required
'/home/solarspeed/php/share/pear/Mail.php'
(include_path='.:/php/includes:/home/solarspeed/php/share/pear') in

So what do I tell him to do? (politely!)
Different path?
I am not familiar with this.

2016-08-01 Thread Colin Jack
Hi Michael,

My recommendation: Turn all email related services off, save and then

turn on what needs to be on.

Active Monitor will monitor the enabled components. If Sendmail and

SMTP-Auth is on, this means Sendmail and Saslauthd. If Dovecot is turned

on, the Dovecot ports will also be monitored.

That worked! ;)

[BlueOnyx:19781] Bulk changes to slave dns

2016-07-01 Thread Colin Jack
Quick one.

What is the best way to make a bulk change to IP addresses for secondary DNS?

We are moving datacentres and need to update records for primary addresses
en-masse on our secondary servers.

I suppose I could use dns-slaveszones.pl to dump to a text file and then sed
the text file and use dns-import-slavezones.pl to import?
Seems a long way around and would that dupe records in the database?

Appreciate any help and advice.

Hi Michael,

]# /usr/sausalito/sbin/dnsMassChange.pl

dnsMassChange.pl V2.0

==

This script can change all DNS records with a certain old IP to a

specified new IP.

To use it, run it with the following parameters:

/usr/sausalito/sbin/dnsMassChange.pl -o old-ip -n new-ip

Yes – I use that quite a lot. Great script. ☺

That script of course is only good for changing the IP's of Primary DNS

records. For the secondaries you could then use the dns-slavezones.pl

script.

I need to change all the slave zone records when I move my primary servers.

Would I need to dump the slave zone to a text file and then sed the txt file
and reimport or is there an easier way?

If so, would that create duplicate records?

Thanks

Yes, it would. So before the re-import run this to remove all existing
DNS records:

/usr/sausalito/sbin/dnsDeleteAllRecords.pl

Welcome to the list and thanks for your input.

What I want to do is whitelist IPs in GeoIP and yes it is using sendmail but it

Yes, the command is geoiplookup and then put the IP in question behind it:

GeoIP Country Edition: US, United States

[BlueOnyx:20565] Re: GeoIP lookup errors

2017-01-21 Thread Colin Jack
Hi Chris,

Don't go messing with m4 files or behind the scenes in Sendmail.

Been using BQ and BX for too long to do that! ☺

You want to set a whitelist in AV-Spam. Do this via the GUI at Server
Management > Network Services > AV-SPAM. Then under the Network tab,
find Whitelisted Senders. Add the IP address or range you wish in the
format of CIDR.

In other words, if you want to whitelist the single IP of 192.168.0.100,
you would enter 192.168.0.100/32. If you want to whitelist the entire
192.168.0.x block, then you'd enter 192.168.0.0/24.

Thanks – familiar with that but that doesn’t seem to whitelist IP addresses
that GeoIP is blocking … incorrectly as per the original post on this thread.
Had a German IP being blocked as it looked up the database and said it was
Russian and we block Russia!
GeoIP allows whitelisting users via the GUI but not IP. This is what I was
hoping Michael may be able to advise on.

All the best

No, in that case (GeoIP being wrong about the country of an IP)
whitelisting the User in question is the best approach.

That would be almost the whole box in this case.! :-/
Is there any way to test an IP against the GeoIP database – or is it just a
matter of watching the maillog?

[BlueOnyx:20675] Yum update on 5209R looking for IPv6??

2017-02-19 Thread Colin Jack
We have one VPS which is failing to update:

Chris Gebhardt picked up that it was looking for an IPv6 address:

http://mirror.supremebytes.com/centos/7.3.1611/extras/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml:

[Errno 14] curl#7 - "Failed to connect to 2604:ec80:1::65: Network is

This 5209R VPS is on a Virtbiz Aventurin{e} host rather than one of mine (hence
Chris’ involvement).
Mine are updating fine! ☺

Any thoughts?

Yeah, I have seen this before. A quick solution would be doing this
inside the VPS:

echo "ip_resolve=4" >> /etc/yum.conf

That way Yum will only resolve IPv4 IPs.

That has solved the IPv6 issue but my VPS is still not updating.
I think Chris may be in touch! ;)

A couple of our servers (hosted with Virtbitz on Adventurine VPS) started
having problems on Saturday night. We found that they were not resolving IP
addresses correctly. As a quick fix, we changed /etc/resolv.conf to point to
googles DNS servers and that seemed to solve the problem.
Also for some reason /etc/hosts of one machine was using the ip address of
another to describe itself, causing mail looping errors. And /var/log/maillog
(actually all the logs) had turned themselves off.

Today we are having some different problems, small niggly things not part of
BO, that don’t seem to be related.

[BlueOnyx:20548] GeoIP lookup errors

2017-01-18 Thread Colin Jack
We are using Michael's AV-Spam on our mail servers and are seeing some funny
results from GeoIP:

Jan 18 10:49:27 pegasus milter-geoip: Connect from IP: 46.101.101.181 - Country
code: RU
Jan 18 10:49:27 pegasus milter-geoip: BLACKLIST: Connection (46.101.101.181) is
from blacklisted country RU

Now that has rejected as a Russian address but

http://whois.domaintools.com/46.101.101.181

It is based in Frankfurt.

Where does GeoIP get its matching lookup from?
We block Russia but not Germany and our users are complaining. :)

Is there an way to

We have an issue with Solarspeed AV-Spam6 and GeoIP and thought best to post
here rather than email Michael direct as the response may help others. Using
the latest release.

We block India as it compromises a large portion of our spam (SEO, website
build etc.)
The problem is that we have number of clients who visit India regularly and
find that they cannot send mail when in India.

We have included their usernames in the ‘Whitelisted Users’ section at the
bottom of the GeoIP tab and that doesn’t seem to work.
As a short-term workaround I was going to disable the ‘Protect SMTP-Auth’ but
that says I don’t have sufficient privs??

So I have had to remove India from the blacklist until I can solve it.

Advice please.

Do you happen to have AV-SPAM on these systems, as well?

I've noticed that CLAM tends to lock up frequently. So much so, that
it's more trouble than it's worth.

This is the 2nd day in a row that we're responding to boatloads of
tickets with reports that users can't send email - it just keeps asking
for their password again and again. Checking the logs, we see the
sending IP address triggering messages like
...did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA

We are running 6.2.1-1 on all mail servers.

We have been regularly coming in to a stalled sendmail on 5209R - we then run
'systemctl restart avspam.service' and all starts working apart from saslauthd
which then restart separately.

This was only happening about once a week, but this has happened every day for
the last week or so.

On 5208R we cannot run geoip for avspam because again after a few days mail
stops flowing and we have to run 'service avspam restart' to get everything
working again.
If we disable geoip it seems okay.

[BlueOnyx:20244] AV-Spam 6 - removing domain from greylisting

2016-11-14 Thread Colin Jack
We have never been able to get AV-Spam to whitelist a whole domain - we always
have to add all the users in individually.
Domains are added in the GUI using the domain name as indicated by the help:
i.e. domain.com and appear correctly in the greylist.conf:

# List of domains that DO NOT want greylisting:
list "nongrey domains" domain { \
   domain.com \
}

# And here is the access list:
racl whitelist list "my_network"
racl whitelist list "broken_mta"
racl whitelist list "greylist_extra"
racl whitelist list "nongrey users"
racl whitelist list "nongrey domains"

This is on all our mail servers (all running AV-Spam 6.2.1-1)
Anybody found a fix? It is a pain having to add dozens of email addresses.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks.

You have exported the slaves as per the instructions for CMU migrations on the
Blueonyx website haven’t you?

http://www.blueonyx.it/index.php?page=cmu-migrations

Check you have the /home/export/extra/slaves.txt file (it will look in that

[BlueOnyx:20310] Roundcube Alias

2016-11-28 Thread Colin Jack
This is really not terribly important but it is bugging me and I was hoping
someone could point out what I am doing wrong.

We use the Solarspeed Roundcube webapp on all our servers.
We have one client who asked if we could set up an alias so that their users
could use either domain.com/roundcube or domain.com/mail to check their mail.
'course you can says I ...

So I edited the site1.include as follows:

# /etc/httpd/conf/vhosts/site1.include
# user customizations can be added here.

Alias /mail /roundcube

## start-roundcubemail

  AllowOverride Options All

## stop-roundcubemail

And I get an error: AH01630: client denied by server configuration: /roundcube

Any guidance gratefully received.

Hi Michael,

Not quite. The righthand side of the Alias needs the full path to the
directory on the file-system. So try this:

Alias /mail /home/.sites/28/site1/web/roundcube/

That would go into the site1.include file.

Worked perfectly! Thank you.

If you generally want to redirect all /mail to the matching /roundcube,
then you'd need to put something in /etc/httpd/conf.d/webmail.conf for
example. There a RewriteRule would be better as it's not that stringent
about having to have the file-path as the target, but it can be an URL
or partial URL:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST}^([^:]+)
RewriteRule ^/mail/?$ /roundcube [L,R]

Or say all your Vsites have SSL certificates anyway and you sure want to
redirect all /mail to https:///roundcube to make them secure, you
could use this instead:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST}^([^:]+)
RewriteRule ^/mail/?$ https://$1/roundcube [L,R]

Brilliant. That is really useful information.

Thanks for your expert input!

BTW, this is the VPS that I couldn’t get RC to work on (after having to ‘fix’
the databases).
Dumped the whole VPS and started again and now all working well.

Kind regards

I am a bit confused on this too. I think you have misread the problem.

The GUI shows three boxes under 'Milter Greylist Configuration':
Whitelisted Senders
Whitelisted Email Recipients
Whitelisted Recipient Domains

Entries in the first two work fine but putting domains in the last doesn't. The
mail still gets greylisted.
I am just putting in the domain name as per the help (so domain.com - not
@domain.com etc.)

All three boxes write correctly to the greylist.conf milter configuration file:

# List of domains that DO NOT want greylisting:
list "nongrey domains" domain { \
   domain.co.uk \
   bbc.co.uk \
   domain.com \
}

# And here is the access list:
racl whitelist list "my_network"
racl whitelist list "broken_mta"
racl whitelist list "greylist_extra"
racl whitelist list "nongrey users"
racl whitelist list "nongrey domains"

So the milter is not using the access list for domains.

>From the greylist milter docs:

domain This clause selects source machines based on their DNS name,
performing a suffix search. For instance, this will whitelist
any machine in the example.net domain:

racl whitelist domain example.net

Suffix search matching means, for example, that gle.com will
match google.com. If you want domain names to match on subdomain
  boundaries (e.g. gle.com will match mail.gle.com and gle.com
but not google.com) then enable domainexact

So why is this not working?

"Server Management" / "Maintenance" / "Server Desktop".

The field "GUI access protocols" usually shows "HTTP and HTTPS". Change

it to "HTTPS only" and tick the checkbox for "Redirect to Server-Name".

What it does is this:

Say the server is named server.company.com and you have a Vsite named

vsite.com.

Someone goes to http://vsite.com/login, which will (as usual) redirect

to the AdmServ at http://server.company.com:444/login

However: If the GUI is set to "HTTPS only", it will redirect once more

to https://server.company.com:81/login

This serves two purposes: You can only see any GUI page when you access

it via HTTPS. Any call to a GUI page via HTTP will be redirected to the

respective HTTPS page of the same URL.

The checkbox "Redirect to Server-Name" (if ticked) will make sure that

you don't get the "The certificate is only valid for server.company.com"

error if someone uses http://vsite.com/login. You would get that if we

did a straight redirect from there to HTTPS without replacing the domain

name.

Unavoidably you still see it if someone uses https://vsite.com/login,

though.

I knew it had to be there somewhere! ☺

Kind regards

Colin

Hi Michael,

Scenario is slightly different:

VPS name: server.company.com
VSite name: mail.company.com

We have a LetsEncrypt certificate on the VPS for FQDN server.company.com
We have a GlobalSign certificate on mail.company.com

When users connect to POP or SMTP they have their mail client using
mail.company.com for incoming and outgoing server, so when it connects they
then get a cert error, because the server cert is for server.company.com

Hi Michael,

> So what to do in this case? :)

Sorry, then you're f*cked. ;-)

That is kinda what I figured although there is a lot of comment on the LE
website about support for multiple sub-domains:

https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/support-for-sub-domains-and-wildcard-certificates/17067/2

I presume this is what you were saying about the aliases on the vsites. Can
this not be applied to the certificate for the VPS itself?

If you wanna be sneaky, you could rename the VPS itself to
mail.company.com and generate an LE SSL certificate for that. But then
of course mail.company.com can no longer be a web server alias for the
Vsite www.company.com.

This was my plan B ;)

Thanks

[BlueOnyx:20358] SSL

2016-12-15 Thread Colin Jack
There will be some of you who will laugh at the question but here goes! :)
I will try and explain.

We have a VPS called server.domain.com with a vsite called mail.domain.com
which hosts all the email for a particular client.
The client wants their users to use mail.domain.com for their email server
settings and to have a proper SSL cert on there.
We have a cert on each (VPS and vsite) but when they connect for email it
throws an error - obviously because the certificate doesn't match.

There is only the one vsite on there for email (mail.domain.com)

I don't want to shell out for a SAN on the VPS and the cert on the vsite is
paid up for three years.

I suppose I could change the VPS name to mail.domain.com and rename the vsite
but this would be a bit messy.
Is there an easier way around this conundrum?

Any suggestions welcome.

2017-01-05 Thread Colin Jack
Hmmm - strange one.

I have installed an LE cert for one of the vsites but it is picking up a cert
for a different vsite!
I have decoded the certificate in the /home/sites/vsite/certs and it is correct.
I have checked the /etc/httpd/conf/vhosts/vsite file and that points to the
correct folder.

The certificate being presented is one for another vsite on the same VPS which
I was experimenting with earlier from the CLI so that may be the reason? :)

Can't see how, but is anybody able to help?

Thanks

[BlueOnyx:20453] Letsencrypt - chasing shadows!

2017-01-04 Thread Colin Jack
I am having a problem installing an LE certificate on any vsites on one of my
VPS. (5208R)
No matter what I do – even creating a new blank site with no .htaccess or
anything – fail.

“The following error occured during the SSL certificate request: The
installation path for the certificates could not be determined.”

I have turned on LE debugging and get this in messages log:

conflicts with file from package python27-tools-2.7.10-1.el6.x86_64

Apart from that nothing else obvious.

I have looked at Michael’s post [BlueOnyx:19411]:

"Let's Encrypt" (LE) needs to verify that you own the domain name(s). So
during cert requests the LE-client puts a publicly accessible file under
/web/.well-known/acme-challenge/ of either AdmServ or the Vsite.

LE then accesses that URL via HTTP using *all* the domain names and
aliases that the cert request included.

The cert will only be issued if *all* these calls succeed.

There are a multitude of reasons why these checks might fail:

- Vsite has PHP-FPM enabled
- Missing DNS A record
- An existing .htaccess does a redirect
- The web server alias of a Vsite is borked
- NAT misconfiguration
- Firewall rules

Checked all this.

Help! ☺

Thanks

Colin

My Christmas holiday challenge has beaten me already (through lack of

Can anybody give me a clue please?

I have a LetsEncrypt cert installed on admserv for one of my VPS. Installed

I want to expand this certificate to include another sub-domain.
Hopefully this can be done from the CLI using certbot but no matter what
certbot commands I use I cannot get it to work.
I am just not providing certbot with enough information!

Is anybody able to help?

Please take a look at this URL, where you can see the code for the
BlueOnyx Handler that generates and installs the LE certs:

http://devel.blueonyx.it/trac/browser/BlueOnyx/5207R/ui/base-ssl.mod/glue/handlers/le_install.pl

In line 103 you can see the command and the options that we pass to
letsencrypt-auto.

Starting in line 173 there are further steps to convert the received
certificate from PKCS#8 to PKCS#1, so that we can import it into the
GUI. See line 183 for the command for the conversion.

Now here is something else what you can do: Find that Handler on your
BlueOnyx at /usr/sausalito/handlers/base/ssl/le_install.pl and set the
$DEBUG variable in line 8 from 0 to 1 and save the changes.

Then use the GUI to create an AdmServ SSL cert while you run "tail -f
/var/log/messages" in a shell. That will tell you exactly what commands
the handler used to request the cert as it will also show you which
variable values it passed on to letsencrypt-auto.

Many thanks

Lets see what I can do!

Colin

Hi Michael,

Cracked it!

Thank you for your help – couldn’t have done it without. ;)

If anybody is interested the command is:

/usr/sausalito/letsencrypt/letsencrypt-auto --text --no-self-upgrade certonly
-a webroot --webroot-path /var/www/html -d sub1.company.com -d sub2.company.com
--email ad...@company.com --rsa-key-size 4096 --agree-tos --renew-by-default
--user-agent BlueOnyx.it

This will create a new key which you copy to /etc/admserv/certs and a new cert;
then use the GUI to import the new certificate. Voila.

Sorry, then you're f*cked. ;-)

The thing is: Sendmail and Dovecot use the AdmServ cert. We can't
hotwire in every cert from every Vsite, as neither Sendmail nor Dovecot
have name based hosting that then servers either this SSL cert or that.

Would it be possible to manually produce a suitable cert using certbot from the

2017-03-26 Thread Colin Jack
We have a site that is having difficulty with open_base dir.

This is the error:

PHP Warning: require_once(): open_basedir restriction in effect.
File(/home/.sites/51/site54/web/classroom/config.php) is not within the allowed
path(s):
(/tmp/:/var/lib/php/session/:/usr/sausalito/configs/php/:/usr/share/pear) in
/home/.sites/51/site54/web/classroom/backup/backup.php on line 6

But this is the conf file:

[root@pegasus site54]# cat /etc/httpd/conf/vhosts/site54 |grep open_basedir
php_admin_value open_basedir
/usr/share/pear:/var/lib/php/session:/usr/sausalito/configs/php/:/tmp/:/home/.sites/51/site54/

Not sure why we are seeing this error when it does seem to be in the allowed
path?

[root@pegasus site54]# cat /etc/build
build 20140909 for a 5208R in en_US

Anybody able to give me a clue? Would seem to be getting its allowed paths from
elsewhere?

Thanks

Colin

It could be that Apache hasn't been restarted after a config change. I'd
suggest to make a change to the PHP settings of that Vsite and save the
changes to push everything out again. Perhaps it then starts working.

That was the first thing I tried – added a directory via the GUI, saved and
checked it had written correctly to the sitexx config file (which it had).
I will poke about a bit – it is not urgent at the moment.

Thanks

[BlueOnyx:20862] PHP update warning

2017-04-10 Thread Colin Jack
Getting one of these every 15 minutes on one of my servers.

The following Packages were automatically installed on your BlueOnyx server:

  * PHP54 v5.4.45-2
  * PHP53 v5.3.29-1

Please review the status of your server and make sure that the installed
Packages perform without problems.

How can I stop it? ;)

Thanks

Colin

Can you please check under "Software Updates" / "Installed Software")
which version of APF you have installed? It should report v6.0.0-3.

It does report 6.0.0.3

I think you might have an older version as the line number of the
variable name doesn't match what I have in SVN for the latest code.

Kind regards

Colin
