Hello everyone,

My name is Charles-H. Schulz (the "H" stands for "Henri") and I am writing
to let you know that I intend to run for a seat at the Board of Directors of
the Document Foundation.

I have been actively working towards creating and growing the LibreOffice
project since the beginning and I am also active in the field of
OpenDocument Format Standardization and Adoption.I'm also currently one of
the directors of the OASIS consortium.

I would like to continue the work I started at teh Steering Committee and
more particularly focus on the strategy of the Foundation, the daily
operations and the relations with our Advisory Board members.

My address is charles.sch...@documentfoundation.org , I am a founding
partner at Ars Aperta (www.arsaperta.com) which is my primary affiliation,
and I welcome questions if you have any.

Sincerely,

Charles-H. Schulz.

[steering-discuss] candidacy for BoD seat

2011-09-22 Thread Florian Effenberger

Hello,

hereby, I'd like to announce my candidacy for a Board of Directors seat
at The Document Foundation.

My name is Florian Effenberger, my e-mail address is
flo...@documentfoundation.org, and being a student, my work here is
solely pro-bono, not affiliated with any corporation or employer.

I would like to contribute to LibreOffice mostly in terms of marketing
and infrastructure, and especially in helping to manage the daily duties
of the Foundation.

As asked in the announcement, I kept this summary rather short, and will
provide some more details about myself to the
disc...@documentfoundation.org mailing list, where candidacies and
candidates are to be discussed.

Re: [steering-discuss] Refund Policy, was Reimbursement for LinuxCon Europe

2011-09-22 Thread Florian Effenberger

Hi,

Italo Vignoli wrote on 2011-09-22 11:06:

I think that travel and lodging (mid category: 3 stars in Europe) should
be included, plus parking and airport transfers (because they are not
"usual" costs), while we can probably pay for food and local
transportation - until we have some more money - as these are normal
"daily life" expenses.

I've added your and Olivier's notes to
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/TDF/Refunding - maybe we can move the
discussion over to discuss@ to create some policy.

Which, however, brings me to two points:
1. Some account balance at SPI would be nice, so we know what we can
spend

Yes, but a budget for the spending should be in place. That is
fundamental to understand the limits of the spendings and will be the
ultimate criteria for refusing a demand.

2. Should we come up with some sort of travel refund policy, at least
a preliminary one?

Absolutely. Usual best practices apply. My take:

1) always through expenses report (no valid proof of purchase, no refund),
2) limited spending per day on food, accomodation and local transportation.
3) approval in advance by the SC/ BoD simple majority.
4) other fees under request (e.g. tickets, registrations fees for
business events, etc...)

[steering-discuss] Refund Policy, was Reimbursement for LinuxCon Europe

Yes. I have limited my request to travel and lodging, as I have been
able to get a free seat at the VIP dinner (which otherwise costs 70 euro
for speakers). Parking and transfers are based on least cost offers,
which I have booked online.

I think that travel and lodging (mid category: 3 stars in Europe) should
be included, plus parking and airport transfers (because they are not
"usual" costs), while we can probably pay for food and local
transportation - until we have some more money - as these are normal
"daily life" expenses.

Just my opinion.

[steering-discuss] Proposal: Optional local NGO donation links on download and extension pages

2011-09-22 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Hi *,

as brought up on Saturday's SC meeting, it is deemed helpful for
local, native-lang NGOs to have their donation details listed on
frequently-viewed pages like the download page. Here's a proposal on
who would be considered eligible.

Note that this applies *only* to translated pages, i.e.

 http://it.libreoffice.org/download/,
 http://de.libreoffice.org/download/ etc.

The generic english pages will not be affected by this proposal.

A local, native-lang NGO, that is in good standing with TDF, and
fulfills the following prerequisites

 * has at least three NGO members, that are accepted TDF members at
   the same time
 * is an non-profit organisation
 * has, in the past year, organised or participated in at least one
local or native-lang event, that was promoting or helping
   LibreOffice

can ask for having their donation details listed on the native lang
download and extension pages, below the generic TDF one. Multiple
NGOs per native-lang category can apply, and are listed in order of
application.

Listed NGOs are reviewed after one year.

Let's have this approved as a preliminary rule, and refine it during
the LibreOffice conference.

Cheers,

-- Thorsten
