Black is the new Green - Carbon Sequestration

One way to sequester carbon is to put it back into the soil, making it
more fertile and creating biofuel at the same time.

republican party imploding

2007-06-03 Thread jon louis mann
it seems like this whole immigration push by bush is doing to the
republican party what affirmative action did to the democrats. just as
affirmative action drove a wedge between black and liberal democrats
and the labor union base, bush's immigration plan is tearing a rift
between the corporate fat cat republicans and the racist redneck nascar
base.

Amazon.com glitched. Y2K still lives?

2007-06-03 Thread Medievalbk
If you buy books on Amazon.com, beware of the publication date 1900.

There must be thousands of bad listings, usually with outrageous prices.

How can a book on the evils of radio advertising be printed in 1900?

Yet there the listing be.

I've been putting books on Amazon all weekend and suddenly books "printed"
in 1900 are popping up everywhere.

For one book, the true publication date is 1964, and there are copies for
$10. And here is a copy dated 1900 for $98. Nobody can "honestly" pick up a
1964 book and "accidentally" type in 1900.

Forget about the river. It seems Amazon is filling up with boobs.

Fahrenheit 451 Misinterpreted

2007-06-03 Thread jon louis mann
What happened in 2004 made me think that Moore was just a blowhard and
*anything* he did should be taken with a barrel of salt. That was just

a really bad PR move on his part that ticked off a bunch of intelligent

people who might be otherwise willing to defend him against detractors.

Documentary director? Give me Spike Lee, any day.

Julia

it just makes me sad, because i have so much admiration for moore...

The censorship article was in this weeks LAW. The article I referenced
is from around the time F451 was coming out and amid much controversy.
I just don't understand why Moore, who I happen to admire, ignored
Bradbury's attempts to contact him. It would have been a small thing
to acknowledge his homage to Bradbury. Instead he comes off as arrogant
and insensitive to an old man's feelings, who could have agreed with
the premise of Moore's film.
