I think I'm back

2005-06-30 Thread Julia Thompson
I think I'm back. Had some problems with copying mail folders to the
right place, and I lost a few non-list e-mails in the process, but other
than that, I think I'm back in business.

If this piece of listmail goes to the right folder, that'll be a good
start. :)

I hope you've recovered from the stress of 1 and are coping well with the
stress of 2, and best of luck with 3; I hope the prognosis is good.

I wouldn't say it's a post you owe me an answer to, but in the middle of
another thread I mentioned an alternate interpretation of quantum mechanics
along with a link to the original paper. I'd love to see your opinion of it
when you get a chance. It's called the transactional interpretation, and
John Cramer's paper on this interpretation can be found at:

It was originally published in July of 1986 in _Reviews of Modern Physics_.

Goodness. Parents' funerals? Both? I'm sorry if I missed some bad news...
more sorry to hear that it sounds like you're awash in a flood of

Both? That sounds bad :(

I'm sorry you are going through such a difficult time. If you want to talk
about it, I'm sure there are many here who would listen. If you think that

Well, I've not been posting for a while because I've been overwhelmed
with

 1) Planning my parents' funerals

From the response I've gotten on and off list, I've clearly miscommunicated
what happened. My parents are still alive, but my dad is in a nursing
home. Since nursing homes run through an elderly couple's money very
quickly, my mom needed to set up both my dad's funeral and hers very
quickly.

Only, it was very hard for her to do. So got an email with casket costs,
flew and drove from Houston TX to Duluth MN, met my sister, and went to the
mortuary and graveyard to pick out caskets, gravesites, etc. We also sat
down with my mom about how she wanted her and my dad's funerals done. This
is what I meant by planning two funerals.

That was not as hard as I thought it would be. My sister's a geriatric
nurse, so she and the mortician cracked jokes throughout; with me chiming
in as best I could.

What was hard was seeing my dad. He still knows me, which is good, but he
didn't recognize the two grandsons who came with my sister and I to visit
him. He isn't aware he's a grandparent.

Thanks to everyone who wrote kind words for me. I feel bad about not being
clear, but thank you for thinking of me.

Welcome back, Dan, and deepest sympathies for your losses. I hope
Teri's problems are not serious.

As for the work load, join the club. 8^)
