Re: [BVARC] Monthly Tailgate/Breakfast at Freddy's Cafe

2022-08-06 Thread Jimmy Vance via BVARC
I participate in both clubs, and this is for everyone, not just KARS
which is why I didn't place a club name on it.  Trying to keep it low
touch where it takes care of itself and doesn't need someone stuck
'running things'.   It has been mentioned/discussed at BVARC board
meetings as well as at least one BVARC general meeting.

The location is where KARS has been meeting for breakfast for about 4
years.  The food is good, the parking lot is big. Being an industrial
park, pretty much everything else is closed on Saturday so there isn't
much traffic to deal with.

Hopefully it takes off and becomes a regular thing. If it does, it does,
if it doesn't, it doesn't.  Will try it for a few months and see what
happens

Re: [BVARC] SignaLink modem help

Yes, the radio has a USB port. However, it is being used by my
controller for Doppler and logging. Thanks for the suggestion, I did see
that on my google search. I have the radio setup like he did for WSJT
however, nothing happens when I try to use Winlink. Maybe for WSJT it is
fine, don't know as I do not have an HF antenna to test it. Just hate
having to use a 1994 or 1995 Kantronics becuase modern day stuff was
designed to work with old antique stuff. There are no selections in
Winlink for anything that is modern. Such as using my USB port or the
SignaLink. Guess I know why I gave the SignaLink away many years ago
after trying to get it to work.

2022-08-06 Thread Rick Hiller via BVARC
I am stoked just to have a tailgate monthly sale as we had years ago.

Everybody and their brother came to Murphy Road in Stafford years ago, as
they knew it was there and when -- every month.

Comment for leaving it be...Rick -- W5RH

Re: [BVARC] SignaLink modem help

2022-08-06 Thread Jimmy Vance via BVARC
From what I'm reading you really don't need the Signalink. The IC-9100
has a USB port that handles audio and rig control so it basically has a
Signalink built in.  There are a few settings on the radio to make the
port active.   This might be a good place to start
https://wb4son.com/wpblog/?p=2390 While this article talks about WSJT,
the same instructions pretty much apply to any of the computer
