Golden Coral is a favorite of hams nationwide.
Go to any hamfest anywhere and youll find hams packing the Golden Coral. Super
cheap and super bland. Thats all ya need right?
But plan accordingly because the Eating Club usually shows up at about 2pm.

and bad caterers..
2) What type of food would we like?

3) What day of the week?  Com on no one will ever agree on this ...  WHY ASK???
4)  What price range?
This is a better question, but it should be worded something like
As a BVARC member what price per person do you think is appropriate for
a nice dinner and a nice meeting place?
(this will get a variety of prices), so the club can choose .. With the
way you worded it I would be inclined
to just choose the lowest number... This rewording is more like how
much would you pay MAX...
then it would be easier for BVARC to choose a better value for the
member since the banquet is (traditionally)
partially subsidized by the club for club members... Means club member
is getting  a good deal...

As is $35 a person, geez I can eat all the catfish I can stuff in for
less than $15 at many places..
Unless we are doing something very elegant, the prices this year and last year

its supposed to be partially subsidized by the club for club members  And

BVARC Awards Banquet - Update

I want to let everyone know that even though it was a great effort, we did not
meet the minimum for the caterer for the BVARC Awards Banquet. So at this time
the banquet on the 18th is cancelled. For those members that paid via PayPal,
their money will be refunded. Those that paid by check, the check will be
mailed back to you. If you have not received your refund by the end of January,
please send me an e-mail at n5...@att.net

It is unfortunate about the cancellation but the banquet is not going away.
Over the next few days a survey will be e-mailed to all members to see just
what everyone would like to do for an awards banquet. The survey will only a
few questions:

1. Would you like to have the banquet at a restaurant or have it catered?
2. What type of food would you like to have?
3. What day of the week would you like the banquet held?
4. What kind of price range would be acceptable for you for the banquet - $15
to $20, $20 to $25, $25 to $30 or $30 to $35?

Hopefully we can get enough responses in over the next few weeks so a new
banquet can be held sometime in the last half of March.

When you get the survey, please consider your answers carefully and
constructively. Club members input is what keeps the club going.

LOUSY survey Jeff..
Whats the goal here?

none of your 4 survey questions will help the banquet.

1) restaurant or catered..
IMO this is irrelevant,  we have had good and bad restaurants and good and bad caterers..
2) What type of food would we like?
IMO this is not worded to get a reasonable response..    Chineese? Hot dogs? Steak? Niko Nikos??
IMO the date gathered from this question really wont help us.
3) What day of the week?  Com on no one will ever agree on this ...  WHY ASK???
4)  What price range?
This is a better question, but it should be worded something like
As a BVARC member what price per person do you think is appropriate for a nice dinner and a nice meeting place?
(this will get a variety of prices), so the club can choose .. With the way you worded it I would be inclined
to just choose the lowest number... This rewording is more like how much would you pay MAX...
then it would be easier for BVARC to choose a better value for the member since the banquet is (traditionally)
partially subsidized by the club for club members... Means club member is getting  a good deal...

As is $35 a person, geez I can eat all the catfish I can stuff in for less than $15 at many places..
Unless we are doing something very elegant, the prices this year and last year are WAY TOO MUCH..
its supposed to be partially subsidized by the club for club members  And $50 for non members??  A guy can get in and out of some of the fanciest restaurants .. you can get a pretty good rib eye for $50...

not catfish and dry chicken..

this is the opinion of

ps: think about the results that make a difference before
carefully choosing questions for a survey..

I want to let everyone know that even though it was a great effort, we did not meet the minimum for the caterer for the BVARC Awards Banquet. So at this time the banquet on the 18th is cancelled. For those members that paid via PayPal, their money will be refunded. Those that paid by check, the check will be mailed back to you. If you have not received your refund by the end of January, please send me an e-mail at n5...@att.net

It is unfortunate about the cancellation but the banquet is not going away. Over the next few days a survey will be e-mailed to all members to see just what everyone would like to do for an awards banquet. The survey will only a few questions:

1. Would you like to have the banquet at a restaurant or have it catered?
2. What type of food would you like to have?
3. What day of the week would you like the banquet held?
4. What kind of price range would be acceptable for you for the banquet - $15 to $20, $20 to $25, $25 to $30 or $30 to $35?

Hopefully we can get enough responses in over the next few weeks so a new banquet can be held sometime in the last half of March.

When you get the survey, please consider your answers carefully and constructively. Club members input is what keeps the club going.

LOUSY survey Jeff.. Whats the goal here? none of your 4 survey questions will
help the banquet. 1) restaurant or catered..         IMO this is irrelevant,
we have had good and bad restaurants and good and bad caterers..2) What type of
food would we like?       IMO this is not worded to get a reasonable response..
Chineese? Hot dogs? Steak? Niko Nikos??       IMO the date gathered from
this question really wont help us.3) What day of the week?  Com on no one will
ever agree on this ...  WHY ASK???4)  What price range?      This is a better
question, but it should be worded something like        As a BVARC member what
price per person do you think is appropriate for a nice dinner and a nice
meeting place?        (this will get a variety of prices), so the club can
choose .. With the way you worded it I would be inclined        to just choose
the lowest number... This rewording is more like how much would you pay MAX...
then it would be easier for BVARC to choose a better value for the member
since the banquet is (traditionally)        partially subsidized by the club
for club members... Means club member is getting  a good deal...             As
is $35 a person, geez I can eat all the catfish I can stuff in for less than
$15 at many places..    Unless we are doing something very elegant, the prices
this year and last year are WAY TOO MUCH..its supposed to be partially
subsidized by the club for club members  And $50 for non members??  A guy
can get in and out of some of the fanciest restaurants .. you can get a pretty
good rib eye for $50... not catfish and dry chicken.. this is the opinion of
Eddie RunnerBVARC Life MemberNU5K ps: think about the results that make a
difference beforecarefully choosing questions for a survey..   On Tuesday,

Subject: [BVARC] BVARC Awards Banquet - Update I want to let everyone know that
even though it was a great effort, we did not meet the minimum for the caterer
for the BVARC Awards Banquet. So at this time the banquet on the 18th is
cancelled. For those members that paid via PayPal, their money will be
refunded. Those that paid by check, the check will be mailed back to you. If
you have not received your refund by the end of January, please send me an
e-mail at n5...@att.net  It is unfortunate about the cancellation but the
banquet is not going away. Over the next few days a survey will be e-mailed to
all members to see just what everyone would like to do for an awards banquet.
The survey will only a few questions: 1. Would you like to have the banquet at
a restaurant or have it catered?2. What type of food would you like to have?3.
What day of the week would you like the banquet held?4. What kind of price
range would be acceptable for you for the banquet - $15 to $20, $20 to $25, $25
to $30 or $30 to $35? Hopefully we can get enough responses in over the next
few weeks so a new banquet can be held sometime in the last half of March.
When you get the survey, please consider your answers carefully and
constructively. Club members input is what keeps the club going.  73, Mike

Julio,

If you're anywhere near Missouri City, you may be able to hit the repeater that
many of us use.

Downlink: 146.94000
Uplink: 146.34000
Offset: -0.600 MHz
Uplink Tone:167.9
Downlink Tone: 167.9 (optional; turning this on can help reduce interference
by other repeaters in Austin, etc., on the same frequency when there's a good
amount of ducting - when the VHF signals travel further than usual)

There are tons of videos on YouTube that show how to program a repeater into
the FT60R, so you should be able to find guidance pretty quickly. If not, feel
free to ask for help on the reflector; I'm sure several of our members have
that radio...

Thanks!
