The guvment said this balloon wasn't of alien origin. I assume they checked
K9YO's immigration status.

Re: [BVARC] The US Airforce may have shot down an Amateur Radio Pico Balloon over Canada

2023-02-17 Thread M Reiter via BVARC
Im not going to look it all up but I have in the past, a simple man
launched missile from a jeep was $50,000 in the 80's anything from a 40M
jet will be exponentially higher. and some of the missiles carried are over
a million each. the fuel, the time of all involved, and there are many
both in the airforce and in both govts. the research to know where the
balloon is and where it will be when the jet gets there. air traffic
control on both sides. even the guy that has to recheck the plane after it
lands to make sure it is ready to fly again. someone somewhere must have
had the job to know what the balloon was and if it was a weather balloon,
or just someones party balloons before that kind of money gets spent.
that guy ows the govt and the balloon owner a check.

They sure did. Here is a link to a website where you can track the balloon.

http://wspr.rocks/

Just type in K9YO and do a search for the last week then the map button to
see its last known transmissions. It was using 20m and maybe 5 watts but I
bet it was more like .5 watts.

Re: [BVARC] The US Airforce may have shot down an Amateur Radio Pico Balloon over Canada

2023-02-16 Thread M Reiter via BVARC

10$ mylar happy face balloon with a $15 dollar raspberry Pi swinging on a
string underneath it?

2023-02-16 Thread Mike Hardwick via BVARC
The missiles are new old stock. I bet the value is barely $250,000! The Air
Force needed something to clear out the old inventory.
