I give a +1 for NetBeans... 

I haven't managed to install the CakePHP plugin, but I make projects at the 
root folder of the app, not the /app/ folder, so it always parses the 
complete Cake lib which is in the current project for autocomplete. This is 
useful cause it always uses the right CakePHP version.

One great feature of NetBeans is its GIT support (via a plugin), so I can 
always version-control my apps from NetBeans, which is cool.

As for cake console, I like doing it from the command line.. I have many 
2.2 apps and 2.3 apps, so I need those separate anyways...

For me it works much faster than Aptana or Eclipse.

I use Notepad++ for minor work, which dosen't require opening a whole new 
project.

best IDE for me is netbeans and in combination with 
http://plugins.netbeans.org/plugin/44579/php-cakephp-framework is the plugin 
awesome. The plugin has not autocomplete but other useful features.

Netbeans for me. There are a few tricks required to get the code completion
to work (especially in views) but nothing drastic.

Has nice integration with subversion, unit testing, jira, etc. Code
templates and code snippets are also nice. Free is a major bonus too.

Have tried others (eclipse, komodo, Codelobster) and they didn't do it for
me.

To get Netbeans to code complete for you:

1) right click the project in the project explorer tree and select
"properties"
2) go to PHP Include Path
3) add the cake folder to the include path and click OK
4) in all your models/controllers you need to add some helper properties to
the doc comments so that netbeans is aware of what is going on:
/**
 * Registration Model
 *
 * @property Location $Location
 * @property Status $Status
 */

This basically tells netbeans that when you go $this->Location to go
looking at the Location model (since Location isn't defined in the class).
Same goes for helpers/components/behaviors etc. The bake scripts actually
add all this for you which is great.

5) in your views it gets a tiny bit trickier... before you use the $this
variable in a view you need to place a comment immediately before it:

/* @var $this View */

After you do all that you get code completion/hints/suggestions everywhere.
The core cake source is well commented and you can mine down into the

I currently use netbeans. You can add the lib path to the netbeans 
configuration, so it will give suggestions of the entire project. It does 
not support cake console, but i saw some plugins that might help you.
Unfortunately i do not remember the urls or names, but you can search for 
that in google and also how to add the cake lib path to your netbeans.

Did you try phpdesigner 8? You can "import" libraries and then the editor use 
this definitions for autocomplete (i don't use this feature) but sometimes i 
use the parameters list for some functions...
It has a privative licence but I think it's good enought.

I really like Aptana, it allows right clicking a folder to open a terminal
there, so you can easily access command line or bake if you want.   I've
personally worked with the founder of the company that currently owns it,
and he's committed to keeping it an open / excellent product.

I tweak any IDE I use no matter what though.  I have my own patterns of
working on things.  I trialed phpstorm, and it is pretty nice.

I accept that the use of the software is better to see the video...
But It is specially designed for CakePHP.
However, I am currently testing Aptana.
Seemed to base this software has been inherited from eclipse.

it is hard to know if you can code faster only with watch video  . Unless 
you spend time to use it, 1 or 2 week coding, then you will figure out 
which you prefer.

I watch a video of NeptunIDE...
It is best IDE for work with CakePHP.
It is developing and in beta version with invitition...

You can't download it , why you know it is good ? 
I use Aptana , with me it is better Netbeans . I use netbeans more than 2 
years then switch to Aptana.

Eclipse rocks :) Aptana is also ok, but slower.
