Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] IPMA and Intercom Line Labels

2010-04-30 Thread Graham Hopkins
Just tested this and yes it does work either way. The only thing I found of
interest here is that for the labels to change after altering the intercom
settings on the manager/assistant screens a restart of the IPMA service is
required.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] IPMA and Intercom Line Labels

2010-04-30 Thread Angel Perez

I can confirm it too, what you are doing is just create and intercom betwen two
phones, the only thing that you have to remember is to add the speed dial
funcionality to the intercom numbers, in case of IPMA this is not required
becouse IPMA service do it for you when you add intercom lines to
manager/assistant user web page configuration

Graham you are right, IPMA service restart is required in this case, I think
that there is some type of bug with intercom label becouse in other cases
sometimes you also need a IPMA service restart for proper working of ipma
intercom lines

Hi, is better to don't specify a source interface, ntp source lo0 this way
all local interfaces are source of ntp, imagine that you have a routing issue
and you can't ping that interface... or that this interface is down, you would
be able to select another interface as source

 Hi:

Assuming that you have taken all the neccesary steps to successfully
integrate UCM and CUPS try the following:

1: Sometimes you have to restart the cups appliance if you have changed
 name to ip address
2: This is the normal situation, you would need to add the IPPM service
to the hard phone associated to CUPC then add the users from the service
menu at hard phone, then you would see other users and it presence.

3: At CUC CoS, check allow to use imap and allow to acces messages bodies,
sometimes MWI notification on CUPC takes 30-40 sec

 Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Vol 1 Lab 13 - CUCM + CUPS Presence

 All-

I've been having a difficult time tonight trying to get CUPS Presence
configured and working correctly. I followed the Proctor Guide, referencing
Vik's Vol 1 Walkthroughs and HouTong Luo's Deploying Cisco Unified
 Presence book.

Here's the end result. I can control my phones through the CUPC client.
When calls ring inbound, I can divert them to voicemail via the client. All
the CUPS services are up and running (although, I did have to reboot the
server to get AXL to remain up, much like my CUC and MWI email from late
 last week).

Several things, I cannot get to work:
 1. Client status - My menu bars are mostly grayed out. When I run the
Presence Viewer on the CUPS, it cannot see my presence, even though I am
 logged in with CUPC.

 2. CUPC directory lookup - I cannot lookup and find BR1-Phone2 or
HQ-Phone2 in the directory. It is empty. HuoTong mentioned that directory
lookup was impossible without an AD integration. Is this true?

 3. Voicemail notification - I went into CUC and enabled Allow Users to
Use Unified Client to Access Voice Mail under CoS. My phones can interact
with MWI but not the CUPC client.

When I run the troubleshooters, everything comes back green. I have
checked line associate, user profiles, SIP trunk, SIP trunk security
 profile, etc.

 Any ideas?

CUPC STATUS MENU IS GRAYED-OUT
This usually means that CUPC failed to connect to the Presence Engine. This
could be caused by:
* Digest credential or Incoming ACL was not configured
* Proxy domain was not configured properly
*  Network issue

Hi Matthew,

I'm encounter a very similar problem as you, which the CUPC status not shown
anything. From the Show server Health from CUPC, the process halt at the
Presence status, symptom is it keep connecting disconnecting.

I've configured the proxy under the proxy domain, and i can login to CUPC as
well.

How do you resolve the issue?

Thanks

Hi:

Assuming that you have taken all the neccesary steps to successfully integrate
UCM and CUPS try the following:

1: Sometimes you have to restart the cups appliance if you have changed name to
ip address
2: This is the normal situation, you would need to add the IPPM service to the
hard phone associated to CUPC then add the users from the service menu at hard
phone, then you would see other users and it presence.

3: At CUC CoS, check allow to use imap and allow to acces messages bodies,
sometimes MWI notification on CUPC takes 30-40 sec

All-

I've been having a difficult time tonight trying to get CUPS Presence
configured and working correctly. I followed the Proctor Guide, referencing
Vik's Vol 1 Walkthroughs and HouTong Luo's Deploying Cisco Unified Presence
book.

Here's the end result. I can control my phones through the CUPC client. When
calls ring inbound, I can divert them to voicemail via the client. All the
CUPS services are up and running (although, I did have to reboot the server to
get AXL to remain up, much like my CUC and MWI email from late last week).

Several things, I cannot get to work:
1. Client status - My menu bars are mostly grayed out. When I run the
Presence Viewer on the CUPS, it cannot see my presence, even though I am logged
in with CUPC.

2. CUPC directory lookup - I cannot lookup and find BR1-Phone2 or HQ-Phone2 in
the directory. It is empty. HuoTong mentioned that directory lookup was
impossible without an AD integration. Is this true?

3. Voicemail notification - I went into CUC and enabled Allow Users to Use
Unified Client to Access Voice Mail under CoS. My phones can interact with
MWI but not the CUPC client.

When I run the troubleshooters, everything comes back green. I have checked
line associate, user profiles, SIP trunk, SIP trunk security profile, etc.

Any ideas?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Voice class codec and default VOIP dialpeer

2010-04-30 Thread Ashar Siddiqui

Hi all,

I was just wondering what is the importance of creating Voice class
codec on a H323 gateway?

I use to create this class like:

voice class codec
codec preference 1 g711ulaw
codec preference 2 g711alaw
codec preference 3 g729r8

and then I would add it under default incoming voip dialpeer like:

dial-peer voice 1 voip
 voice-class codec 1
 incoming called-number .
 dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric
 no vad

But I noticed that this dialpeer mess up with CUE and MWI etc like
different sites not reaching to Voicemail or even if they reach
voicemail the MWI won't lit up. Removing this incoming voip dialpeer
resolved all issues.

In my lab exam, I did not use this dialpeer at all i.e. default voip
dialpeer. Everything worked finebut I did not get marks as I was
expecting. I am not saying that this would be the only thing where I
would have lost points but could it be one of the reason?

So questionis a default voip dialpeer necessary?
If we create one then what codec should we use as voice class codec mess
things up.

Thanks.
Ash

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Transcoder and BACD issue

2010-04-30 Thread Jeff Cotter

Station to Station calls work as expected between UCM and CME including g729
call through gatekeeper to CME sip phone using g711. Transcoder is invoked
properly and confirmed with show sccp connections. Call Routing and Transcoder
proven as functional with above.

However call fails immediately if I put my GK Trunk on UCM to g729 region (due
to codec mismatch). If I change CME BACD dial-peer to g729 you hear silence.
Voice-class codec on BACD dial-p you hear silence.

Change UCM Trunk to g711u region and BACD dial peer to g711u call works fine.

How is one supposed to get calls over the WAN using g729 to work with BACD??

Dial-peer config below. All other config is proven to be working

dial-peer voice 222 voip
 service aa
 destination-pattern 3500
 session target ipv4:3.3.3.3 (loopback interface)
 incoming called-number 3500
 dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Transcoder and BACD issue

2010-04-30 Thread Jeff Cotter
Already done and calls to and from sip work fine. The problem as I see it, is
the dial-peer 222 acts as both incoming and outgoing dial-peer and IS hardcoded
for g711u. Therefore a transcoder will never be invoked#!! As both inbound
and outbound dial-peer is g711u so no codec mismatch no transcoder.

The only solution I found is to call a different number say 3800 from UCM call
routes to CME hits dial-peer 3800 dial-peer with g729 codec configured!! I
than set up ephone-dn 3800 and call-forward all to BACD pilot number of 3500.
This works.

Again I see no possible way of transcoding this BACD dial-peer configured as
documentation states because it acts as both legs of the call and hardcoded to
g711u so no way is a transcoder going to be invoked.

All other config is proven to be working

dial-peer voice 222 voip
 service aa
 destination-pattern 3500
 session target ipv4:3.3.3.3 (loopback interface)
 incoming called-number 3500
 dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric
 codec g711ulaw

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Script question

2010-04-30 Thread Cristobal Priego
Hello all

Do you know if you can configure some kind of Multimedia queue? what i mean
is, when i have a caller in the queue and if he/se doesn't want to wait any
longer, they can press 1 to leave a voicemail(recorded message), instead of
sending that voicemail to a mailbox. i want that voicemail (recorded Step )
to be sent back to the queue ? and then have that message delivered to
whichever agents becomes available ?

does that make sense ?

thanks

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Voice class codec and default VOIP dialpeer

2010-04-30 Thread Cristobal Priego
I don't think a class codec is required as long as you have the codec g711
configured on the voip dial-peer

by default a voip dial-peer supports g.729 by default and CUE only supports
g.711 so we either need to force that call to be g711 somehow either using a
class codec command or just the codec command under the dial-peer

that's just my opinion

2010/4/30 Ashar Siddiqui siddas...@gmail.com

  Hi all,

I was just wondering what is the importance of creating Voice class codec
 on a H323 gateway?
I use to create this class like:

 voice class codec
 codec preference 1 g711ulaw
 codec preference 2 g711alaw
 codec preference 3 g729r8

and then I would add it under default incoming voip dialpeer like:

 dial-peer voice 1 voip
  voice-class codec 1
  incoming called-number .
  dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric
  no vad

But I noticed that this dialpeer mess up with CUE and MWI etc like
different sites not reaching to Voicemail or even if they reach voicemail
the MWI won't lit up. Removing this incoming voip dialpeer resolved all
 issues.

In my lab exam, I did not use this dialpeer at all i.e. default voip
dialpeer. Everything worked finebut I did not get marks as I was
expecting. I am not saying that this would be the only thing where I would
have lost points but could it be one of the reason?

So questionis a default voip dialpeer necessary?
If we create one then what codec should we use as voice class codec mess
 things up.

 Thanks.
 Ash

This is overkill but... you could put an ACL on your relevant interfaces
that looks something like: access-list 101 permit udp ho 1.1.1.1 any eq 123

If 1.1.1.1 is your loopback you should see packet matches on that entry.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Switch-type Primary-ni setting Cng Type automaticlly

2010-04-30 Thread Sergio Polizer

Hi,

While doing the Vol 2 workbooks I have observed that when site Br1 (ISDN
Pri/primary-ni) is configured as H323 the IOS set automaticlly the calling type.

If I change the switch-type to primary-net5 it does not happens e.g for
Br2. See bellow:

Primary-NI

Calling Party Number i = 0x2181, '4158881002'

Plan:ISDN, Type:National

Primary-Net5

Calling Party Number i = 0x0081, '4158881002'

Plan:Unknown, Type:Unknown

If the question does not say anything regarding calling type should We care
about that?

I appreciate
your comments.

The standard rule of a CCIE lab is that if a question doesn't specify
something, it doesn't matter (and hence we shouldn't care).

Is it must to give codec G711ulaw under voice register pool 1

I believe it Q dependent and also If I have G711ulaw under voice reg pool in
that case if I am calling say via GK from HQ into CME the transcoders will
be needed, but is there anythign else I am missing whcih will break if I
don't mention any codec under voice reg pool...which by default is G729

thx
