Vik, here¹s my public feedback :)

I recently received your newest v3 Voice VoD and Vol 1 video walkthroughs.
They are excellent. You have done a great job in balancing theory (i.e.,
learning the concepts) and practical components (i.e., specific tips to help
pass the exam). The only thing I don¹t understand is, when do you sleep. :)

Thanks for your tireless efforts to improve the quality of the materials
(not to mention your time spent here on the OSL).

Thanks Wael. Fingers crossed for your next attempt.

We are finally reaching a point where we have completed all the labs, VOD
and Vol 1 walkthru¹s etc, etc. Our next task, once the vol 2 walkthru¹s are
complete, will be to revisit all the WB labs/solutions and correct typos and
add more detailed explanations where necessary. It has been a difficult job
to record/write new material and at the same time support the existing labs-
hopefully we can improve the job we are doing on the product maintenance
from now on.

I, as always, would appreciate any feedback (privately if bad, publicly if
good- LOL:-) you have on the VOD, WB and Walkthrus.

Dear Tom,

Actually I bought both INE and IPE.
I want to say that IPE matriel is much better with more and more indepth
tasks and solution and more explanations.
The point that the proctor guide in some labs - especially volume II - not
100 % accurate , so you will have to try a little .

Also I recommend you IPE Walkthrough videos, which is a must [ I heared some
of volume one videos and it is really excellent].

For INE the best is thier VoD by Josh Fink which is really very good.

In brief, The IPE Workbooks 1,2 are the best along with walkthrough video's.

Note: I already tried lab last month with no luck and found IPE material is
very good along with the Outstanding bootcamp with Vik.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] incoming VoIP dial-peer matching not based on session protocol

2010-05-03 Thread Vik Malhi
Session protocol is never used on inbound dial-peers, only outbound
dial-peers. The originator decides which protocol to use (sip/h323). Inbound

Hi,

I'm a bit confused why the session protocol command is not necessary for an
incoming VoIP dial-peer.
Even if it is H.323 dial-peer (session protocol cisco) a SIP call can match.
Any ANI/DNIS matching rule is enough.

Sb can makes me clear?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Installing UCCX

2010-05-03 Thread Tanner Ezell
It's important to note that you need to run the reg patch prior to
installing UCCX. You may need to run it after installation. Also, just
checked through the thread and it doesn't mention the following:

You must change references from C:\WINNT *after* UCCX is installed to
C:\WINDOWS else you will encounter problems.

Open up regedit, hit control+f and search for C:\WINNT and change
them. Make sure to change all references.

2010-05-03 Thread Matthew Berry
Kaylan -

You need to do what Angel suggested:

voice service voip

allow sip to sip
all s t h
all h t s
all h t

Then restart gatekeeper (shut/no shut), you will see

10.10.200.3 1720 10.10.200.3 51942 VIA *H323-GW <--
iptoip gw*
**
Then if gk routing is fine the call will proceed

That should fix your problem.

Good luck!

 Thanks for your comments.

Regarding my comments regarding Mark's VOD product (the old

Security VOD - which, since then has been redone. Also, Tyson is still
an employee. So, in response - it's not a bash on Mark personally -
but my opinion of a product that needs to meet higher standards.

We are finally reaching a point where we have completed all the labs,
VOD and Vol 1 walkthru's etc, etc. Our next task, once the vol 2
walkthru's are complete, will be to revisit all the WB labs/solutions
and correct typos and add more detailed explanations where necessary. It
has been a difficult job to record/write new material and at the same
time support the existing labs- hopefully we can improve the job we are
doing on the product maintenance from now on.

I, as always, would appreciate any feedback (privately if bad, publicly
if good- LOL:-) you have on the VOD, WB and Walkthrus.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] about IP blue VTGO multilab

2010-05-03 Thread Steve Denney (stdenney)
Agreed. I tried using VTGO Multilab back in March (version 2.11.1.307,
which is the same version still posted).

I found it to be too unstable to use, and had to revert back to
2.11.1.230 (which turned out to be a complete uninstall / reinstall
process, including some manual registry key deletion - not trivial).

Documentation on the new version is also not yet available, so you're on
your own in terms of figuring out how to save/access the multiple
instances.

IPblue makes excellent products, and I'm sure this one will be as well,
but I would recommend sticking with 2.11.1.230 until Multilab is a bit
more stable and documented.

As always YMMV. :)

Hi, if you are asked to use g711 for intra-site calls and you don't specify
codedc g771u under voice register pool, intrasite calls to/from this phone to
let say to other sccp phone in the same site will use g729 and you will brake
the requirements

Is it must to give "codec G711ulaw" under "voice register pool 1"

I believe it Q dependent and also If I have G711ulaw under voice reg pool in
that case if I am calling say via GK from HQ into CME the transcoders will be
needed, but is there anythign else I am missing whcih will break if I don't
mention any codec under voice reg pool...which by default is G729

thx
