Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Display of globalized number on 7965

2010-09-20 Thread Scott Newberry
What you describe is the only possible solution. It's just a limitation of
the CME on the PSTN router. No worries, as long as you see it at the bottom
of the screen.

On Sep 15, 2010 4:05 PM, "Mark Holloway" wrote:

If I send a call from the HQ through the PSTN to BR2 and the calling number
from HQ is in E.164 format, the BR2 phone's main display (ie. large fonts)
doesn't show the + in front of 1XX but on the bottom part of the
7965's screen it does show +1XX in smaller fonts. Is this
considered acceptable if we are required to send E.164 as the calling
number? I would think so. The ISDN debug on BR2 does show the calling
number as +1XX.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] VPIM - both ways not working

2010-09-20 Thread Jeff Garvas
I have not played with VPIM to Unity Connection (just recently dealt with it
in Exchange for the first time) but I can tell you what is going on here:

< MAIL FROM:<2...@unity>|
 554 5.1.8 Bad senders system address|

^ This is a somewhat basic SMTP failure. The sender address is being
rejected because it doesn't like the right half of the @ symbol. So either
you need to change what you're sending as (the domain portion) or you need
to allow that domain portion at the receiving end. Without working with
VPIM and UC at all I can't exactly tell you where to do any of this, but
whats happening here is the sender is being rejected obviously.

Until you resolve that and get a messed queued response you're not
completing the SMTP portion of VPIM. To answer question number 3, this
needs to be a RFC compliant email domain, so yes, something like
foo.comshould be your sending domain, as well as your recipient
domain. Each end
needs to be a different domain or subdomain. Probably best to read the
SRND on this for a definitive answer.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Heads-up: Brussels Lab Location

2010-09-20 Thread Marko Milivojevic
I heard from couple of students and Cisco employees of renovations in
the building where the lab is. Apparently, noise levels during the
exam are a bit higher than usual and long (up to one hour) power
outages are not uncommon these days.

Please, be advised of this if you are planning exam in Brussels. Bring
some earplugs for noise and arm yourself with patience in a case of
power outage.

Good luck everyone!

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] After hour block pattern

2010-09-20 Thread Pithog Oil
This is the concept that was used in arriving at the timing for mondays through
friday.
Allowing international calls between 7am and 7pm only during week days,
means Blocking from 19:00hrs to 06:59hrs  i.e if blocking lasts till 06:59 the
next minute will be 7:00 , so blocking stops at 06:59 and allowing of calls
starts at 07:00.
Now this is clear, but i really do not understand the sunday drift of  having
the blocking time stop at 07:00 , monday morning should not be different from
any other morning in the week.
The BLS videos has a different view from the printed workbooks.
I would appreciate it if an expert could make this clearer to
 me.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] SIP Phones and Codec

2010-09-20 Thread Stutz, Bernhard
Hi,

On Lab9 Question 3.7 Solution is stated that there is a need for a transcoder
in order to get calls between a sip phone and sccp phone working because the
sip phone can only handle G.711.

I got here a 7975 phone which can handle G.729 aswell when i configure it
following way:

voice class codec 1
 codec preference 1 g711ulaw bytes 160
 codec preference 2 g729r8 bytes 20

voice register pool 2
 id mac 0026.99ED.8B34
 type 7975
 number 1 dn 2
 dtmf-relay rtp-nte
 voice-class codec 1
 username 1002 password cisco
 description 617-863-1002
 no vad

When making a call between sip phone and sccp phone i see there G.729 been used
by hitting "?" twice on the phones.

Can the x-lite client only handle G.711 ? What's about the 7965 phones? can
they handle G.729 as a sip phone aswell?

kindly regards,
Bernhard

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] After Hour block patterns

This is what I think it should be:

REQUIREMENT is to block international calls for this hours
Monday - Friday, 7pm-7am <--- My interpretation is to allow 7am to 7pm
inclusive
Sat 7am-1pm <--- My interpretation is to allow 7am to 1pm inclusive
Sunday all day <--- block all day

Sunday 12:00 to 06:59 <-- Blocking Sunday noon 12pm to Monday 06:59 to allow
calling at 07:00am

(Allow 7am to 7pm)
Monday 19:01 to 06:59 <-- Blocking from 19:01 to next day 06:59

(Allow 7am to 7pm)
Tuesday 19:01 to 06:59 <-- Blocking from 19:01 to next day 06:59

etc

(Allow 7am to 7pm)
Friday 1901 to 06:59 <-- Blocking from 19:01 to Sat 06:59

(Allow 7am to 1300 1pm)
Sat 13:01 to 12:00 <-- Blocking from Sat 1300 hours to Sunday noon 12pm.
I'm thinking that you can enter any ending time here as long as you pick it
up on the Sunday block time.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Call flow question

2010-09-20 Thread Mav
Hello,

I have a scenario where incoming call needs to ring to both manager and
secretary phones at the same time, in the event that nobody answer than its
going to hunt to a group of 2 secretary. I was able to accomplish this
building 2 line group . my challenge is in the event that the first
Secretary logs off the hunt , how can I get the next member to take her
place?I tried using a shared line eliminating the second LG,manager doesn't
need to log off , but that didn't work.

I'm using CUCM version 7.1.5

thank you in advance.

This is a deep question.

Could you tell is what have you done already to troubleshoot this issue?
Work your way up from Layer 1 and you will find the issue.
There is a good document on cisco.com search for phone registration problems
- It is a CUCM 3.x document but very useful. Also, there is the chapter 3
of the troubleshooting book there is great for this.
