[OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCX Agent Automatic Available

2012-04-24 Thread Ken Wyan
Hi,

We can set Automatic availabe for individual agents or CSQ level.

If we disable Automatic available from CSQ then the settings of individual
agents will be applied.

There's a service parameter also to enable / disable automatic available.

Can anyone tell , how does this parameter affects agent availability. (I
think service parameter should have least priority than agent/CSQ ; but I
want to confirm from somebody major in IPCC)

Thanks.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Router Switch port configurations

2012-04-24 Thread Bill Lake
My comments are limited to the HWIC cards you will see in the lab running
the IOS version in the lab.

The issue you may encounter is that when using the access version of
configuration, the voice vlan will not come up or will drop after some time
of functionality. Therefore, in the lab I would recommend using option 2.

As for those saying that spanning-tree portfast is on a trunk port does not
work, well guess what, when you add the command switchport voice vlan xx,
you just created a trunk and to confirm that see below output

HQ-RTR(config)#interface fastEthernet 0/3/1
HQ-RTR(config-if)#switchport mode access
HQ-RTR(config-if)#switchport access vlan 10
% Access VLAN does not exist. Creating vlan 10
HQ-RTR(config-if)#switchport voice vlan 20
% Voice VLAN does not exist. Creating vlan 20
HQ-RTR(config-if)#spanning-tree portf
%Warning: portfast should only be enabled on ports connected to a single
host.
Connecting hubs, concentrators, switches, bridges, etc.to this interface
when portfast is enabled, can cause temporary spanning tree loops.
 Use with CAUTION

%Portfast has been configured on FastEthernet0/3/1 but will only
have effect when the interface is in a non-trunking mode.
HQ-RTR(config-if)#

So again this only applies to the situation in the lab, it seems to be a
combination of the IOS version and perhaps the HWIC's used but I have not
tried to confirm but I have been able to recreate on my lab repeatedly.
Sometimes access mode will work and seem to be fine. Other times it will
not, can not get the voice vlan to come up at all, and finally others it
will work for a day and the next it will not be working.

Good luck if you want to argue this after you take the lab. The CCIE voice
has no review process and if your phones at a site do not work, I am
guessing you failed.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Device Pool of UCCX generated cti devices

2012-04-24 Thread Ken Wyan
When we integrate UCCX with CUCM , cti ports & cti route points are
configured through UCCX GUI & it's automatically propogated to CUCM.

My question is , when we create a new telephony trigger / media group ,
device pool cage is always filled by UCCX. Which DP is selected by UCCX
for this? (if multiple device pools are configured already in CUCM)

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Router Switch port configurations

2012-04-24 Thread Ramy Abdelrahim

Hi Guys,

Just to cut it short .. If you're on HQ-3750 then configure the phone ports as
access ports and if you're configuring a switch module on a voice gateway then
make it as trunk port.

HQ-3750:

int f1/0/1
 switchport access vlan 10
 switchport mode access
 switchport voice vlan 20
 spanning-tree portfast

Switch Module:

int f1/1
 switchport trunk native vlan 100
 switchport mode trunk
 switchport voice vlan 200

Hi ST,
What you are saying is not quiet correct. Option 2 will normally be okay.
However, if we want to be sure, we could include "allowed vlan" keyword. This
option must always work at least when you have "allowed VLAN" configured, and
vlan pruning is disabled. The "switchport voice vlan" is Cisco's special for
Cisco phone. But some other vendors have also taken up this approach. I my
opinion if we can use it option 1 we should use it. From responses from Kevin
and Juan, it seems like it works fine. I think we can challenge if this doesn't
work in lab. I was originally unsure of if this command would be available on
piddly little four port switch module.
