Well, the upside is I am not taking the test with the crappy 3550s and
6500s... I am taking it with new code 3750s.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Need Clarification: mls qos map cos-dscp

2010-03-21 Thread Jason Aarons (US)
I'd be curious when "auto qos voip" changed to CS3 or if it has, but you should
change it.

The feeling is that QoS SRND needs to be updated for MediaNet/RFC4594 and that
Auto QoS should only be used in most basic scenarios.

The QoS Baseline recommends marking Call-Signaling to CS3. However, currently
most Cisco IP
Telephony products mark Call-Signaling to AF31. A marking migration from AF31
to CS3 is under way
within Cisco, but in the interim it is recommended that both AF31 and CS3 be
reserved for
Call-Signaling and that Locally-Defined Mission-Critical Data applications be
marked to a temporary
placeholder non-standard DSCP, such as 25. Upon completion of the migration,
the QoS Baseline
marking recommendations of CS3 for Call-Signaling and AF31 for Locally-Defined
Mission-Critical
Data applications should be used. These marking recommendations are more in
line with RFC 2474 and
RFC 2597.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Need Clarification: mls qos map cos-dscp

The QoS SRND states that the "auto qos voip" command adds the following config
to the router:

C2970(config)# mls qos
C2970(config)# mls qos map cos-dscp 0 8 16 26 32 46 48 56

Earlier in the SRND, around page 40, it says that the old marking for audio
signaling was AF31 (26). That is the same DSCP marking listed above.

As part of our "best-practice" scenario, should we be changing the command to
consider audio signaling as CS3 (24)? The command would need to be modified:

C2970(config)# mls qos map cos-dscp 0 8 16 24 32 46 48 56

Is this true? Otto, can you weigh in on this one?

Thanks!

Hi Jeremy,
You got this answer from Otto Sanchez on your other post on the same topic.

"Hello Jeremy,

I think that an important fact to know is that cg/cd xform patterns get

matched at the time the rp is being hit, so cg/cd xforms will override the

transformations you perform at the rp level,

If you configure the EPNM in a TP, the cg number getting to the rp will be

the globalized number, right?, in this case, a cg xform pattern will be

matched only if it corresponds to that EPNM,

Please let me know if this clears up things a little bit for you,"

I would say that the answer you got is pretty strait forward, but if not test
it out in all sort of ways in your lab and I think it will click for you.

well, I know this order but CngPTP break these rules.

Check out this scenario: call>TP>RP---> SLRG->GW

,check EPNM on TP and RP ,put CngPTP on GW.it overrides.
,check EPNM only on RP ,put CngPTP on GW.it does not override.
,check EPNM only on TP ,put CngPTP on GW.it overrides.

How these mess works with CngPTP?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] [cisco-voip] FYI: VMware ESXi is now free

2008-07-30 Thread Jason Aarons (US)
The lack of a 64-bit Cisco VPN Client (we don't do SSL VPNs for
AnyConnect) is frustrating. How hard is to port 32-bit to 64-bit code
when others like Nortel/Checkpoint are did it long ago. Instead I run
Virtual PC with XP for 32-bit Cisco VPN client when needed.

Once CallManager starts exceeding 4GB RAM I can see Cisco porting
application to 64-bit.

One 64-bit Windows 2003 R2 domain controller can carry the same load as
multiple 32-bit Windows 2003 R2 domain controllers.

You could get more users per cluster with fewer servers with 64-bit
applications.

I bet within ten years (July 30, 2018) a Quad Core by Sixteen (64
processors) becomes cost effective/common for data centers. What will be
after 64-bit?

Yeah, that won't work, ESX is very hardware specific

Just a side note, because I see this misunderstanding a lot.

On a 32-bit OS, you have a 32-bit memory address space, which equates
to roughly 4 billion address locations (about 4GB of RAM supported),
however, Windows allocates a nice sized chunk to I/O and other
stuff...

If you want to recognize more than about 3.5GB, you need to run a
64-bit OS (I am running 64-bit Vista with no problems (except the
silly CIsco VPN client doesn't work)...

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] RE : Multicast Moh from Flash of BR1

2010-06-25 Thread Jason Aarons (US)
Credit go to Jane Ryer for the inital version/info, here is expanded info;

Customer didn't want music on hold to cross the WAN for a remote spoke site.
They wanted music to multicast from the router flash card out a local PRI for
the site and for it to work under CME-as-SRST.

1. ip multicast routing and ip pim dense-mode in router (does it need to go on
int serial0/0/0:23 where the PRI is? It does need to go on the interface that
has the 7900 phones)
2. ccm-manager music-on-hold | moh music-on-hold.au | multicast moh
239.1.1.3 port 16384 configured in router (you can use any private
multicast address but has to match CallManager)(adding the interface fixed my
MoH not working)
3. Enable Multicast Audio Sources on this CallManager MOH Server
4. CallManager MoH Server Base Multicast IP Address = 239.1.1.3
5. CallManager MoH Server Base Multicast Port Number = 16384
6. CallManager MoH Server Increment Multicast on = IP Address
7. CallManager MoH ServerMax Hops = 5 (or less if you want to keep it off WAN)
8. MOH Audio Source: SampleAudioSource (1) = Allow Multicasting
9. In Media Resource Group = Use Multicast for MOH Audio (requires at
least one multicast MOH resource)
10. Cisco IP Voice Media Streaming App = 711 mulaw and 729 Annex A
selected.
11. Media Resource Group List configured in Device Pool level with
appropriate MRG.
12.MOHMulticastResourceActive counter got incremented when put the call
On-Hold.
13. Verify you put the music-on-hold.au on the flash:

Smaple Running-config from IOS 15.0(1)XA3
ccm-manager music-on-hold
ccm-manager config server 10.10.55.133 (CallManager IP)
ccm-manager config
ccm-manager sccp local FastEthernet0/0

telephony-service
moh music-on-hold.au
multicast moh 239.1.1.11 port 16384 route 10.225.106.2

show ccm-manager music-on-hold

show ip multicast interface
show ephone moh (only in SRST mode)

Hi Ashar,

I need to play in case to forget the stress of the lab, it's coming soon.
I think you are right the problem on the UCM side, I will try to restart the
Media voice app and back to you.
The output of show ccm-manager music-on-hold

BR1-RTR#show ccm-manager music-on-hold
Current active multicast sessions : 0
So ucm didn't provide any multicast to the router.

First of all, why are you playing? You should be labbing properly as voice
field is not a playground..

Joke aside... ;)

What is your "'show ccm-manager music-on-hold" ?

If no MoH streams are shown by this command then CCM has failed to provide the
gateway with MoH

Also keep in mind Tone on hold means there is a CM misconfiguration. Silence
means the RTP is not getting to the router.

Your case is CCM configuration issue. Check configuration again properly.

Check at Pub CCM > the MOH server - region/Device pool selected properly, reset
it and then login to subscriber..go to the same place and reset it from there
as well.

Also restart Media Voice app.

The output you posted means that you have proper telephony-service
configuration (max-dn/max-ephone etc)...problem is at cucm side..

You can now continue playing..

How did you infer he's using multicast and/or CME? I must be missing something.

Check IP Voice Media Streaming App is enabled for G729, check regions on phones
versus gateway (and/or Common Device Configuration/Device Pool).

I'm guessing gateway is G711 and phones are G729 and you IP Voice Media
Streaming App is only setup for G711. Just a guess.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Hide a particular user in theCorporateDirectory

2010-09-13 Thread Jason Aarons (US)
Disable Empty Search is a workaround, but I wish Cisco would go back to having
CiscoPrivateUser in the description field not show those accounts like it did
in 4x. Most admin don't like filters but don't want service accounts being
shown, even though it's pretty easy to get a list of all users from AD with
other tools.

I have tried all the workaround and suggestions, but none of them appear to be
worked or fulfill the requirement of 'no display in the corporate directory'.
Yes, you can put "~" or some special char in the front of First/Last (in both
AD or DC directory) to hide them from the search by name, but it still appears
in the search at the bottom as "~admin, ~crs". Again, the requirement is NO
DISPLAY.

Thanks for all the input and suggestion...I give up this one and except no
credit from customer then:)

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Single Number Reach

I'm having a hard time when an internal extension calls another internal
extension that uses SNR, the "From" phone number on the PSTN phone is 4 digits
instead of 7. For example, extension 2001 calls 2003, and 2003 simultaneously
rings a PSTN phone number. The display on the PSTN phone says HqPh1 (2001)
instead of the 7 digit or 10 digit number.

I have created PT_SNR which is assigned to CSS_SNR. I have CSS_SNR assigned to
the Remote Destination Profile for both CSS and Redirecting CSS. My SNR number
is +14086347694 and I have a route pattern that contains \+1408.6347694 which
egresses the RL_HQ_ONLY (this is not Standard Local Route Group). I also
created a Translation Pattern with PT_SNR and I have checked Use External
Phone Number Mask. I was expecting this to take the 4 digit Calling number and
insert the External mask instead. I tried following the steps in the Mock Lab
guide (I believe it is Lab 6) but I still cannot get it working. Any
assistance would be appreciated. Perhaps someone has a blog post?

Thanks,
Mark

should I add the same autoattendant dial peers with a higher preference to the

Point but during wan failure those timeout and it goes direct to CUE?

Since the phones are SIP for use with SIP SRST , I had this which doesn't
account for the CUE AA when WAN is down;

id network 10.1.222.0 mask 255.255.255.0

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Adding subscriber problem - need ideas

2010-11-25 Thread Jason Aarons (US)
I had this problem with a recent new install of 8.0.2c (it was pre-installed on
the hard drive on new MCS server) . I couldn't find anything wrong, the
password I reset 20 times, etc.

I upgraded the pub to 8.0.3a and did a subscriber install with software update
on the subscriber and it worked fine.

Dearl Michael

First i have applied license for two nodes and only using one and there is
one available node on the lices [for sub]
Also I set the name with uppercase all lettters and tried on sub both upper
case and lower case but not working.
I did reset security password many times to cisco12345 on pub and used it on
sub but no sccess.

Is there any troubleshooting steps can be done on pub during connectivity test
on sub ?

Make sure that you are entering the device name of the PUB correctly (spelling)
during the SUB set up

Make sure the server name for SUB is spelled correctly on the PUB (case
sensitive)...AND. that you have a second server license installed on the
PUB, to be used by the SUB

Hi Prashant ,

Yes I added it on the publisher on server list and on the CM Group.
But still it fails the connectivity test when installing subscriber software.

Dear All,

I installed the first node - publisher - succefully.
Now whenevr i add the 2nd node - subscriber - it tried to test connectivity to
first node but always fails and installion terminated.
There is network connectivity between the two nodes and from publisher i can
ping the new node - subscriber.
Also I reset the security password on the publisher [using Set password user
security on CLI]

Any ideas as the connectivity test always fails ?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CME GUI looks weird

2010-12-08 Thread Jason Aarons (US)
Don't you have to session into the module to run initial setup, before the Web
GUI will be active.

In the session you run a setup that tells it whether your using CallManager or
CallManager express.

Also can you ping it from router?

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CME GUI looks weird

Hi folks

As part of Lab 3A, I configured for GUI access into the CME, as follows

  ip http server
  ip http authentication local
  ip http path flash:/GUI

  and under telephony-service

web admin system name admin pass cisco

After this, I go into browser, and try to access the ccme.html page, I first
see the window go grey as expected, then see "View window" displayed at the top
left corner, and then the page comes up with the tabs "Configure", "Voice
Mail", "Administration", "Report" and "Help". However, the screen looks weird
and pressing the mouse on the tabs do not show the pull down menus. I have
pop-up blocker turned OFF on my browser. tried Mozilla as well as IE, to no
avail.

I then looked into flash:/GUI/CME_GUI_README.TXT, and on the first line, it
says "CME GUI Version 7.0.0.1".

any hints?

Thanks in advance,
/Baktha
