Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] ip pim dense mode

2011-06-28 Thread Peterson, Ryan
you would not want that command. it wouldnt matter if you had it since you
would have had to enable multicast routing, but if you accidently did that,
then the user could hear both CUCM and flash audio streams on their phone at
the same time.

You would however need it if you were sourcing MOH from CUCM as multicast and
trying to hop a layer 3 boundry.

Of course, Im not a big fan of using multicast routing in dense mode (in
production). Id probably setup RPs and Sparse mode.

You actualy don't need pim dense mode when route in below command

*multicast moh** multicast-address* *port* *port* [*route* *ip-address-list*]

route ip-address-list—(Optional) Declares the IP address or addresses from
which the flash MOH packets can be transmitted.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] ip pim dense mode

2011-06-27 Thread Shrini

Hi Danny,

You are configuring CUCM to multicast MOH and fooling the router by
multicasting MOH locally on the same IP / port. (Trick behind MOH from
flash)

For the interfaces to forward multicast request you need "ip pim dense
mode" command, specifically on voice vlan interface, else phones will
not get MOH because you are multicasting MOH on flash. (even applies if
you are using CUCM MOH, need additional interfaces to be configured for
"ip pim dense mode" and hops)

Hope this helps
