[ccp4bb] Fully funded postdoc positions available
Dear members of the structural biology community, I am looking for postdoctoral researchers and would be grateful if you could bring the following position to the attention of potential candidates. Thanks, Albert Postdoc positions in the laboratory of Albert Weixlbaumer available at the IGBMC in Strasbourg, France. We are inviting applications for several postdoc positions, which are immediately available in the laboratory of Albert Weixlbaumer, PI in the Department of Integrated Structural Biology, at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC), in Strasbourg, France. The postdoc positions are funded through the Chair of Excellency program of the French government, which provides stable funding for 5 years to address challenging topics in the life sciences. The successful candidate will study the coupling of transcription and pre-mRNA splicing using a combination of biochemical and biophysical techniques in a close collaboration with the group of Clément Charenton (also IGBMC). To gain detailed mechanistic insights, you will study complexes of RNA polymerase II and a spliceosome assembling on the nascent pre-mRNA in physiological conditions. Structural insights will be gained using mass spectrometry and single particle cryo-EM. We have frequent access to a Glacios and several Titan KRIOS instruments equipped with the latest detectors. Technology platforms at the institute will support your project in every aspect (Molecular Biology, Cell culture, Biophysics, Structural Biology) and training on every aspect can be obtained within the team but also through experienced staff scientists. Further information can be found here: https://www.igbmc.fr/en/recherche/teams/regulation-of-transcription Please download the ad for more details on the team, the institute, and the surroundings: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tz3gzdohm9r12q4c1x15m/Postdoc_Ad_2024.pdf?rlkey=9t712svptbibovszbitgn3ntk&st=7htt2qi6&dl=0 Highly motivated candidates with PhD degrees in structural biology, chemical biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Although not strictly required, preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in single particle Cryo-EM or X-ray crystallography. Applications including a cover letter outlining research interests, CV, list of publications, and names of three references should be sent via e-mail to Albert Weixlbaumer: albert.weixlbau...@igbmc.fr Applications will be reviewed starting from the middle of September but positions are open until suitable candidates have been found. [ccp4bb] IMCBio International PhD program 2024
Hi everyone, I would like to draw your attention to the International PhD program of the Integrative Molecular and Cellular Biology (IMCBio) graduate school at the University of Strasbourg, France: https://imcbio-phdprogram.unistra.fr When you click on the link, scroll down to the section on Integrated Structural Biology to read about some of the exciting projects available for candidates keen to work on challenging questions. My lab is also interested in recruiting candidates that want to use biochemistry and structural biology to work on supramolecular complexes (e.g. to study the cooperation between RNA polymerase and other cellular machineries involved in gene expression). The IMCBio graduate school builds on the strong research developed in five different institutes. This includes the IGBMC, which is a European Instruct center and thus houses state-of-the-art facilities for structural biology (NMR, X-ray crystallography, SAXS, as well as latest instrumentation for Cryo-EM including two Titan KRIOS with various direct detectors and a Glacios for screening). Structural biology at the IGBMC has a long tradition and focus on functional complexes of large macromolecular machines involved in gene expression (transcription, translation, and splicing machineries), Chromatin organization, epigenetics and DNA topology (epigenetic regulators, topoisomerases, retroviral integrases, histone chaperones and deacetylases, methyltransferases), viral oncoproteins, motor proteins, and nuclear receptors. Strasbourg is a cosmopolitan city in the heart of Europe. The IGBMC is a vibrant and highly international institute (over 45 nationalities, working language is English) with about 250 PhD students and postdocs. Initial registration for the PhD program needs to be done until March 10th, 2024. The deadline to complete the application is March 17th, 2024 Please forward this to any interested candidate. Dear members of the structural biology community, I am looking for postdoctoral researchers interested to do single particle Cryo-EM on complexes involved in gene expression. The position will be funded through an ERC starting grant and I would be grateful if you could bring the following ad to the attention of potential candidates. Thanks, Albert Postdoc position in the laboratory of Albert Weixlbaumer available at the IGBMC in Strasbourg, France. We are inviting applications for a postdoc position, which is available in the laboratory of Albert Weixlbaumer, PI in the Department of Integrated Structural Biology, at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC), in Strasbourg, France. The position is funded through an ERC starting grant for several years. The successful candidate will study the regulation of transcription elongation by protein or non-coding RNA transcription factors using a combination of biochemical and biophysical techniques. To gain detailed mechanistic insights, you will study complexes of RNA polymerase bound to regulatory factors using structural approaches (mostly single particle cryo-EM). [ccp4bb] research technician and postdoc positions available - IGBMC, Strasbourg, France
Dear Structural Biology community, I am in the process of setting up my new lab and would be grateful if you could bring the following two positions to the attention of potential candidates. Thanks, Albert *Position for Research Technician available in the laboratory of Dr. Albert Weixlbaumer at the IGBMC in Strasbourg, France.* A position for a research technician is available starting in April 2014 in the laboratory of Dr. Albert Weixlbaumer, team leader in the Department for Integrated Structural Biology, at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC), in Strasbourg, France. We are looking for highly motivated, creative individuals with interests in structural studies of large macromolecular machines. The ideal candidate has obtained a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree and is well versed in biochemistry or molecular biology. Experience in molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, as well as an ability to maintain organized records is essential. Prior experience in structural biology would be an added benefit but is not a requirement. The successful candidate will become a critical part of the group by managing and supporting the lab on a daily basis. Besides general lab management, your duties will include cloning of protein constructs, protein expression, purification, biochemical characterization and crystallization using state of the art equipment and facilities. Eventually you will also train new personnel and become a critical resource for general lab know-how. The broad interest of the group is regulation of transcription. We use a combination of biochemistry and structural approaches (primarily X-ray crystallography) to study how protein and non-coding RNAs regulate transcription during the elongation phase of transcription. More information can be found here: http://www.igbmc.fr/research/department/3/team/119/ Applicants should send a single PDF file containing their CV along with a summary of their previous research experience, accomplishments, and experimental expertise. They should also arrange for 2-3 letters of reference to be sent directly to Dr. Albert Weixlbaumer via e-mail at: albert.weixlbau...@gmail.com *Postdoc position in the laboratory of Dr. Albert Weixlbaumer available at the IGBMC in Strasbourg, France.* We are inviting applications for a postdoc position, which is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Albert Weixlbaumer, team leader in the Department for Integrated Structural Biology, at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC), in Strasbourg, France. The position is funded through an ATIP-Avenir start-up grant for a total of 3 years. The successful candidate will study the regulation of transcription elongation by protein or non-coding RNA transcription factors using a combination of biochemical and biophysical techniques. To gain detailed mechanistic insights, you will study complexes of RNA polymerase bound to regulatory factors using structural approaches (X-ray crystallography and/or single particle cryo-EM). IGBMC is one of the European INSTRUCT (Integrated Structural Biology in Europe) centers and therefore provides state of the art facilities and technology platforms that will support your project in every aspect.
