 Hi,

Still no idea on how to commit code to cim5 (access to git repo
somewhere?) Anyways, attached is a patch for home/end keys on buddylist,
 menus etc.

I think you can push directly to the mob branch:
http://repo.or.cz/w/centerim5.git/mob

If you follow the instructions on
http://www.centerim.org/index.php/Contribute_Code, but replace centerim
with centerim5, I think that you should be able to push directly to the
mob branch.

But I am not sure if any body wants to review before the patches are pushed.

Someone not using linux should test it. A mobshot is here:
 http://www.centerim.org/download/mobshots/centerim-4.22.9.4-1514.tar.gz

On FreeBSD this looks not that good :-)

I have now compiled centerim on Ubuntu 9.04 and FreeBSD 7,2, commited to
mob-branch. Hopefully it should work on FreeBSD 8.0 aswell.

On the FreeBSD 7.2 machine that I have access to there exists only one
ncurses header file, ncurses.h. No ncursesw/cursesw.h or ncursesw/curses.h.
configure wrongly assumed that the header files exists if it was
possible to link against libncursesw.
Since the header files did not exist, the build failed when compiling.

Could you try pulling latest from the mob branch and test if it builds
on your system? (

I just commited a small change to the detection of ncurses(w).

A little further digging seems we're only looking at the type and name
fields of the utmp struct, and only in that one place in the code. These
fields are identically named in the 2 types, and serve the same purpose,
so there is no functional difference between what we would pull from a
utmp structure or a utmpx structure.

Substituting utmpx instead of utmp would be a minimal change in the base
include, made simpler by autoconfigure, and a determining of which
include we brought in to determine whether *u should be of type utmp or
utmpx. Once that's determined, *u should behave exactly the same.

 right (and now only) option.

I don't _believe_ this has huge downstream ramifications for modern
distributions, but we should probably have autoconfigure prefer to use
utmpx.h over utmp.h if it exists.

I installed centerim on a new machine and saw, that the

Since I had nothing better to do this evening I tried to fix that on the
mob branch. It should work for a user that uses centerim for the first
time. But if you allready got a ~/.centerim directory it is not perfect,
but still better than nothing. (As a user you should run something like
chmod -R g-rwx,o-rwx ~/.centerim to make sure that all subdirectories
got the proper protection).

By the way, what is the proper way to indent the centerim source code,
is it tab or spaces? The code today (where I have looked) is a mixup of
both.

I don't know if I will have time to contribute so much, but I could
try to do some smaller things, when I have the time to do so.

I commited two small patch-sets today which decreases the number of
compiler warnings from 219 to 0 when setting the compiler flags to:

CPPFLAGS=-ansi -pedantic -Wall -ggdb -O0

When doing that I also found a small bug, so compiler warnings aren't
always evil :-)

Btw, yesterday, I committed a change to the mob branch which renames the

[CenterIM-devel] building centerim5

2007-11-28 Thread Håkan Kvist
Hello.

Today thought I would download and build centerim5, just in order to
have a look at it, and maybe to find an easy todo or two to have a
look at.

The problem was that couldn't arse myself to find out how to properly
install/prepare libpurple so that it is found by ceterim5's configure
script.

If someone could provide an idiot's guide how to build centerim5
(preferably on the wiki), that would be quite nice. I have no intrest
in compiling/installing the whole pidgin-thingie...

An idiots guide is not what I'm going to give you, but the following steps
 might help you:

 1) download pidgin sources
 2) ./configure them
 3) go into the libpurple directory and
 4) make it
 5) make install it

Well, it seems to work, havn't got it to compile yet though.

It seems like centerim5 requires libgmm-2.4 version 2.12.8 or
higher.

My machine runs Debian stable which includes the 2.12.0 version of
that library, so the compilation fails.

Anyway, I'll update the wiki when I get it compile properly.
