Re: expire cookie in 5min

2000-11-30 Thread Kevin Schmidt

You should be able to use the CreateTimeSpan function for the expires
attribute.

IE EXPIRES="#CreateTimeSpan(0,0,5,0)#"

This will set it to expire in 5 minutes.

As honest as bush then. At least Gore doesn't giggle when he signs death
warrents. I have absolutely no respect for someone, like Bush, who looks
up to Danny-boy Quayle as his intellectual superior.

Aside from that, lets keep politics out of CF-Talk. I cannot stand
hearing republicrats whine and have tempertantrums because their boy's
brother didn't rig the election in Florida enough.

ACL on Resource

2000-11-30 Thread Rob Sherman

Looking for a few other suggestions.. Admin swears he installed CF on NT 4
SP 6a Server as the Administrator but you can't even test the installation
without getting prompted for a login and password.. if you cancel, you get
the 401.3 Error "ACL on Resource"

It seems to be a permissions problem, forgot what I did to fix this in a
previous similar problem.

Advanced Querying

2000-11-30 Thread W Luke

Hi,

I wonder if someone could help me out with some queries I'm running on a
scheduled task.

I need to send out outstanding invoices, including details of what they have
bought (i.e. an Advert - details of which are in advert_details). Once
done, I need to set the "Sent" column of the Invoices to "Yes". It involved
3 tables - invoices, payments and advert_details.

Below is what I've done - but I'm pretty sure I've done it wrong, and I'm
not sure where or how to set the invoices.sent to "Yes".

SELECT email,ad_ID,advert_ID,paid,sent
FROM payments,invoices
WHERE paid = Yes AND sent = No AND ad_ID = advert_ID

There are no outstanding INVOICES TO BE PAID

 SELECT * FROM advert_details WHERE ID = #ad_ID# AND email = '#email#'

 There are #invoices.recordcount# invoices outstanding

I'd be grateful for anyone's wisdom with advanced querying on this..

Cheers

Will

Im trying a UPDATE on a Access database, and im getting an error

 UPDATE JobInfoUpload
 SET CheckedOut='Yes', CheckedOutBy=#InSol.Name#
 Where '#URL.FileID#' = JobInfoUpload.FileID

Everything is spelled correct, but i get an error below. I have a feeling
it has something to do with my Yes/No Column in the database.

ODBC Error Code = 07001 (Wrong number of parameters)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Too few parameters. Expected 1.
Hint: The cause of this error is usually that your query contains a
reference to a field which does not exist. You should verify that the
fields included in your query exist and that you have specified their names
correctly.
SQL = "UPDATE JobInfoUpload SET CheckedOut='Yes', CheckedOutBy=chad Where
'48' = JobInfoUpload.FileID"
Data Source = "CJM.mdb"
The error occurred while processing an element with a general identifier of
(CFQUERY), occupying document position (25:1) to (25:60) in the template
file D:\Web\Capitol1interface\chad\checkout.cfm.

RE: a bbs in cf

2000-11-30 Thread Bob Silverberg

There are lots of ways to do it, but if you start by finding out whether
there is a period, then you could use ListFirst() and ListLast() with '.' as
a delimiter to get both the first and last part. You could then use the
Mid() function combined with the Len() function to extract the different
pieces. Take a look at the section of the docs on string functions for
other useful functions.

As for other products, I'm not sure what functionality you're looking for,
but you might want to check out the free used-to-be-Allaire Forums at
www.forumspot.org.

Subject: a bbs in cf

first a thank you to those that helped me with my "dates in a sql
statement" problem .. it has taken me close to fruition on my current pet
project .. but now I've run into another road block

My Immediate Problem:
can anyone point me in the proper direction so that I might be able to
learn what specific functions that are available in CF to read the contents
of strings/variables? What I need to accomplish is to take something of the
form

1234.010203

and be able to break it up into

is_there_a_period = 1
var_1 = 1234
var_2 = 01
var_3 = 02
var_4 = 03

when I won't know the length of what's before or after the period. i.e.
they might be of the form

12
or
1234
or
1234.01
or
1234.0102
etc.

I know I can find the presence of the period with

but I don't know how to find out how many characters there are to the right
or left of the period if it does exist, and what the value of these
individual characters on either side of the period are.

What I'm Up To:
A while back I implemented a BBoard written in Tcl on
OuterBanksBeachGuide.com - it was written by Phillip Greenspun of MIT. It
has served us well through it's 4 year life span, but lately I've had
clients asking for something similar on their sites. The problem with
continuing to use Phillip's board is that it requires an AOLServer backed
hosting solution and they don't come cheap. So I went looking for something
written in CF at a comparable price (did I mention that Phillip's app is
open source) but wasn't able to find much .. so then I get the bright idea
to try and port Phillip's board from Tcl to CF. I checked with Phillip to
make sure he was OK with this idea and he assured me that he is. Although
it is my hope to get this functional on my own .. I would like to turn this
into an open source project of it's own.

If this is something that you feel you would like to be involved in or if
you would like a copy once I get it working please feel free to email me
direct .. just so long as you are charging for your time installing the
application and not selling the app itself. If anyone knows that I am
reinventing the wheel and that something like this is already available, if
you would kindly email me a quick note to point me in the right direction I
would greatly appreciate it.

CFFILE locking?

2000-11-30 Thread Len Conrad

With , does CF have implicit file locking or
serialization of access to one file (such as a logging file common
used by all a site's pages) or do we have implement our own locking scheme?

In either case, what happens when there is a collision?

Does CF do its own retry/timeout thing or do we have to do that also?

Re: CF 4.5.1 SP2 -- Ramping/Queing Problem

2000-11-30 Thread dave fauth

We are having the same problem on the development server. It was an
upgrade from 4.0.1 to 4.5.1sp2. Today, I uninstalled the CF4.5.1sp2 per the
following Allaire instructions:

Uninstall ColdFusion using the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel Applet.
Reboot.
Delete the entire \cfusion directory tree.
Delete the CFDOCS and CFIDE directories from your web root.
Delete the HKLM\Software\Allaire registry folder.
Delete any remaining ColdFusion services from the
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services registry folder.
Delete cfml.ini from your Windows directory.
Delete the following files from your Windows/System directory (you may not
find all of these): - CFFileProxy.dll - CFFtp.dll - CFFtp30.ocx - cfmsg.dll
- cfperfmon.dll - CFRds.dll - CFRegExp.dll - CFSDebug.dll -
CfShellFtpRds.dll - CFSourceControl.ocx - cfssvradmin.dll - cfvalidator.dll

Reboot.
Reinstall ColdFusion

On the first reinstall, I went to 4.5 and then 4.5.1sp2. It didn't help.
So I repeated the process and looked for more stuff in the registry related
to ColdFusion, WDDX and Allaire. I deleted that stuff and reinstalled 4.5.
That seemed to make a big difference as I wasn't seeing the queing of
requests under the same load as before.

I guess the next step is to go to 4.5.1sp2 and see if it holds.

As honest as bush then. At least Gore doesn't giggle when he signs death

Aside from that, lets keep politics out of CF-Talk. I cannot stand

RE: UPDATE on a MS Access Database

2000-11-30 Thread Simon Horwith

you don't need the cfoutputs in the query, just the # signs will do, and you
probably need single quotes around #insol.name#. Also, if
JobInfoUpload.FileID is a numeric field then you need to remove the single
quotes from #URL.FileID#. Also, I'd reverse the where clause parameters to
make it more readable.

Try:

 UPDATE JobInfoUpload
 SET CheckedOut='Yes',
 CheckedOutBy='#InSol.Name#'
 Where JobInfoUpload.FileID = '#URL.FileID#'

It means the memory leak in Studio has used up all the available

RE: UPDATE on a MS Access Database

Chad, you probably just need single quotes around
'#InSol.Name#' Single quotes let the database know
that you are inserting a string, for instance into a
TEXT field. They're easy to forget by mistake.

(and you may also be missing a (but that's
not likely the cause of your problem here))

RESOLVED: CFerror flakiness

2000-11-30 Thread Chris Norloff

Just to pass on something I learned recently - CFERROR doesn't like comments in the CF
pages it calls (putting them at the end of the CF page worked better than at the
beginning).

We have CFERROR call a CF page, which then runs SendMail and calls another CF page.
With comments at the beginning of the CF pages (file name, developer, change history,
etc.) we'd occasionally get a flaky response - the pages wouldn't execute and the
user'd be left with nothing but a blank screen.

Putting the comments at the end of the CF pages solved that problem.

RE: Finding duplicate records

You should be setting up primary keys or unique index's in your database for
the fields you don't want duplicates. Then around your insert/update
statements us cftry type="database" to catch it when they try and insert
duplicate information, then deal with them appropriately.

Yes.

This gives you today

This will give a date 365 days before today

If your date is older than a year the datecompare function will return 1.

Re: UPDATE on a MS Access Database

You don't need the s inside of a .

Also, you need single quotes around #InSol.name#, or else the database
thinks "chad" is a field name and will compain when it can't find it.

RE: Finding duplicate records

2000-11-30 Thread Bob Silverberg

How about this? It's a cfm file that you can include to check for
duplicates. I wrote it awhile ago, for a particular purpose, and I just now
noticed that it only deals with character fields. You could add extra logic
to deal with numeric fields as well. Perhaps it will give you an idea of
what you can do.

DSN: Datasource name for the database
--> PK: Primary key of the table being queried
--> chkTable: Name of the table being queried
--> chkFields: A list containing the dbField/formFields to compare (the
dbField name must be the formField name)
<-- qryCheckDups: A query containing the primary key of the record(s) found

|| END FUSEDOC ||
--->

SELECT #PK#
FROM #chkTable#
WHERE

AND

#fld# = '#Evaluate(eval)#'

I would like to use something like this for a form, we are having lost of
problems with duplicate entries. I tried it as shown and it would not let
me get past my name because someone else had used the same department. Is
there a way to make it check all the fields like an 'and' statement? If
this isn't possible is there another way to stop multiple submits?

I got the solution for you, I wrote this and snippetized it because it just
so handy.

SELECT *
FROM #Tablename#
WHERE #dupecheckloop# = '#listgetat(dupecheckvalues,looptracker)#'

You have entered a duplicate #listgetat(dupecheckvalues, looptracker)#

A simple request to keep this type of commentary off list would have been
sufficient - yet you wasted little time and gave little effort in
contemplating the reprocussions of tossing your 2 pence in the ring.

No more commentary on this - now that you've got your verbal diarrhea off

Spare us all your banter as well please. Repub or Dem or Green Party - your
rebuttal commentary is on par with the intellect you alledge Bush to

Save it next time or at least make an apology - or better yet - respond
directly to the original offending poster.

RE: UPDATE on a MS Access Database

2000-11-30 Thread Brandon Behrens

Here are a couple of things. When you get too few parameters, you have
messed up your SQL statement: here is where you messed up:

Checkedoutby needs single quotes around it like checked out.
I don't know if this is mandatory or not, but you might want to switch
JobInfoUpload.FileID and #URLFileID# around. Field names come first.

Re: Nesting enclosing Custom Tags

2000-11-30 Thread Kevin Miller

Try this:

(will run 'start' code in tag)

(will run 'end' code in tag)

In your tag, you can run the appropriate code depending on the value of
Attributes.Part.

Kevin

>>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 11/30/00 05:32AM >>>

I don't know if what you are trying to do is possible. Double
checking
the manual may help.

(will run 'start' code in tag)

(will run 'end' code in tag)

I just don't think there is a way to execute code from two tags
using the above syntax. You may want to try to simplify it into
one tag.

Re: IP Address blocking

2000-11-30 Thread Kevin Schmidt

That would be what I would suggest as well. Just set up a custom tag that
executes any time a file is uploaded. Read in the content of the file and
use regular expressions to sort out the links and kill or mangle them.

PS the jnl site still hasn't changed

Hi,
we had a similar problem since we wanted to have a scheduled job which will
add CF Session-Variables to links in our .cfm pages, which were posted by a
dumb Content Management System(no names here).

We used a custom tag CF_DirectoryList (->see devex.allaire.com) to recurse
the directories and get the filenames.
To replace the old links by the new links we used regular expressions
(ReFind).

With the help of the Regular Expression you can then change the url or even
remove the Link-Tags if the url contains an unwanted url.

Re: SQL 7.0 Question

2000-11-30 Thread Jeffry Houser

I'm surprised that statement worked in Access.

The delete statement automatically deletes a whole row. You do not
need to specify a wildcard, or column as you would in a select statement.

   DELETE from auction_records where auction_id='#id#' and userid='#userid#'

Look up the syntax for sp_dettach and sp_attach.

There should be no problem using < inside of quotes in the cffile
output variable or inside of quotes inside of cfset. The only things
that should give you problems are quotes and #.

For instance this code:

`variables.SomeVar`

I would write like this: Paste this into a template and change the
path of cffile and watch it work. :)

" &
chr(10) & chr(10)

Try just DELETE FROM WHERE

You'd have to use UPDATE to delete/mangle individual cell data, so the * in

Your statement for SQL would be:

DELETE from auction_records where auction_id='#id#' and userid='#userid#'

(basically delete the "*")

Take out the * in the Query in SQL all you need is

DELETE from auction_records where auction_id='#id#' and userid='#userid#'

Instead of

DELETE * from auction_records where auction_id='#id#' and userid='#userid#'

You will need to do this on all you DELETE if you have many

If you're deleting, you don't need the "*". SQL Server understands that you
want to delete the whole row just by saying "DELETE FROM tablename where

I got your message 12 minutes after it was sent. Its possible that the list
is having problems sending mail to you. This happens when the connection
between the HoF server tries and fails to connect to another mail server for
some reason. The message is then 'queued up and then tried again in an hour.

Re:SQL 7.0 Question

2000-11-30 Thread Chris Terrebonne

Yes, * is the syntax for ALL in SQL7, but you don't need to specify that
for a DELETE.
When you issue a delete, you delete the entire record, so there is no need
to specify columns.
Try:
DELETE from auction_records where auction_id='#id#' and userid='#userid#'

Ok I just did a local upgrade from Access 2000 to SQL 7.0 and everything
works great except one statement.

DELETE * from auction_records where auction_id='#id#' and userid='#userid#'

Here is the error:

ODBC Error Code = 37000 (Syntax error or access violation)

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Line 1: Incorrect syntax near
'*'.

Is * not the correct syntax for All is SQL 7.0?

Thanks,

If you're running Win2K, you can't reinstall MDAC to my knowledge.
Installing CF on Win2K sometimes breaks ADO for ASP, so having OLEDB broken
too doesn't surprise me. Unfortunately, sometimes only a Win2K reinstall or
update will fix it.

No, just remove the asterisk (*) and it should work fine. In delete queries, it
is assumed that you want to delete all records that match the criteria in the
WHERE clause, unless you explicitly specify which fields to delete.

Why on earth do that??

That will be chaos!
THe subjectline should be enough to see the type of error or help needed or
offered, or at least the first few lines of the
message.

How will having 10 different mailing lists for each facet of CF help? Would
anyone ONLY subscribe to say the "Security" mailing list..without being on
the Database Backend mailing list?

And if you think you will subscribe to more than one..say 4 or 5..then what
would be the point in splitting the list into several focussed parts in the
first place?

the date variable is within one year of now.

the date variable is older than one year

By te way,
A less efficient way of doing this, which is more flexible in that you don't
have to be testing for a date within an interval of now (i.e. you could
specify a range) might look something like this:

The date variable occured within the last 12 months

this date is Greater han one year old

OK, so you populate your "select distributor state" control from tblstate,
with the values = state_name

Then do the same query on your listing page, but add WHERE dis_state =
'#FORM.#'

You can even put a conditional in your cfquery:

select
FROM
etc
etc

Subject: Another newbie Query/DB Question

Hi,

I have an Access DB with the following:

tbldis - dis_id, dis_name, dis_phone, dis_city and dis_state
tblstate - id, state_name

I have made a page that lists all distributors (over 100), Grouped/ordered
by state, then city and then distributor name. At present the page lists
'all' distributors by default. What I would like to do is to add the ability
for the user to select an individual state from a dropdown menu and pull up
the distributors for only a specific state, if they so choose.

I only use tblstate to populate a dropdown on the insert form and update
forms in the admin interface. This puts the actual state_name, rather than
an ID in tbldis during an update or insert.

As things stand, is it possible for me to accomplish what I want and if so
could you provide an example. If not what changes will I have to make to my
DB in order to make this work.

Thanks,

Mike

You might be able to use the HTTP Referer of the request to determine
whether to show the page or not. We use a similar thing to prevent
direct linking to image content on our site -- we use CF to serve
images via CFCONTENT. The page checks the referer before serving the
image. If the referer is from our server, the user sees the image
and never knows anything is out of the ordinary. If the referer is
missing or is from another site, they get a "You've been bad" kind of
image served to them instead. That image just has text that explains
bandwidth theft and asks the user to report the site they clicked
from to us.

Here's slightly abridged code:

This should be even easier if you're only serving HTML files from
those links. Something like the following stuck at the top of the
protected pages should suffice:

You don't belong here!

Hope that's helpful.

Advanced queries

Cheers

Will

In SQL, a DELETE statement inherently means to delete all columns.
The * is redundant since there's no way to specify the columns you
want to delete in a DELETE statement.  Access probably ignored it;
but to the best of my knowledge, that isn't technically correct SQL.
SQL Server is kicking it out for that reason. The statement should
be:

DELETE FROM auction_records
WHERE auction_id='#id#'
AND userid='#userid#'

(Caps of course are not important, but I like all my SQL keywords
capped for readability...)

If it's a hyper-link in the copy, then you're going to have to do some
specific code for that before it's displayed no matter what...

Here's how I'd treat it;
Either change the A HREF to something else, like AHREF (which HTML will
ignore as a tag),
Or edit the code in the HREF part of the link - the problem with this is
that it'll still look like a link, but people will get annoyed that they
can't get the link working.

I'd personally go for the first option, as that way it'll still display the
URL, but people will have to go out of their way to put it into the Address.
