2003-02-14 Thread Dave Lyons
on this auction time count down i have it working fine until the seconds get to 00.
then it starts to count down again like
23 hours
59 minutes
59 seconds
how do i stop them from continuing to count down?
here is the code from the count down display

 Ends today!

#daystogo# days left

hours left

 Getting
closer!

#NumberFormat(hourstogo,'00')# Hours

minutes
left

 You better
hurry!

#NumberFormat(minutestogo,'00')# minutes

seconds
left

 To Late

#NumberFormat(secondstogo,'00')# seconds

count down code is buggin

2003-02-14 Thread Dave Lyons
the code i got to work last night on the auction count down is having some troubles.
the problem now is that after the auction is over the hours, minutes and seconds start
over.
so even thought the auctions over they keep goings
do i need to cfif each 1 and can i base them off of the day?

heres the code
sorry but i havent commented everything out yet

SELECT *
FROM items
WHERE auctionID = #URL.auctionID#

SELECT *
FROM"user"WHERE auctionID = #URL.auctionID#
ORDER BY yourBid DESC

#rsIt.shortDescription#

Details for item:
#rsIt.shortDescription#

timeleft = DateDiff("s", Now(), deadline);
daystogo = Int(timeleft /86400);
leftover1 = timeleft - (daystogo * 86400);
hourstogo = Int(leftover1/3600);
leftover2 = leftover1 - (hourstogo * 3600);
minutestogo= Int(leftover2/60);
leftover3 = leftover2 - (minutestogo * 60);
secondstogo = leftover3;

#rsIt.shortDescription#
current high bid:
$#hBid.yourBid#

click image to expand

auction
ID
#rsIt.auctionID#

retail price
$#rsIt.retailValue#

minimum bid
$#rsIt.minBid#

current price

   No bids yet

  $#hBid.yourBid#

days
left

 Ends today!

#daystogo# days left

hours left
#NumberFormat(hourstogo,
'00')# Hours

#NumberFormat(minutestogo,

this auction is now

RE: uploading progress bar

2003-02-14 Thread Peter Bagnato
The key is by using the CFFLUSH tag.

CFFLUSH takes whatever is in the buffer and flushes it to the browsers.

Look up CFFLUSH in the documentation and you'll see what I mean.

The only problem when using CFFLUSH is the fact that you can't use
CFLOCATION after it... Kind of a headache to write the redirects in
Javascript.

Do you have any timeline for that Vince?

Last time this subject came up, you didn't seem very keen on
implementing CFCs - On February 4th, you said: "Are CFML developers
really going to use CFCs or CFCHART? ... So that's [.NET] where we've
decided to invest our development effort for now--rather than spending
a bunch of time implementing CFCs (for example), that--who
knows?--could end up deprecated in the next release from Macromedia."

If the result of the URL is a redirect, cfhttp.statuscode will begin
with "301" or "302" and cfhttp.responseHeader["Location"] will contain
the URL it redirects to.

Yes, I'm very grateful to Branden for taking my place at such short

To what extent?

I mean would I be better off using

ReReplace(string, "a|b|c", "", "ALL")

or

Replace(string, "a", "")
Replace(string, "b", "")
Replace(string, "c", "")

Just curious... I use them both ALOT

Re: array order question

2003-02-14 Thread Bryan Stevenson
While I'm not sure if the order would remain the same, there are some great
UDFs for manipulating structures and arrays (including sorting) found at
www.cflib.org in the "Data" library I believe. So if you use those you'll
be sure to keep your desired order ;-)

array order question

2003-02-14 Thread HOwens
If I'm passing an array from page to page using CFWDDX (in as an array, out
as CFML, back in as an array), will the array sort order remain consistant.

And when the array creates a hit list page, listing all of the items in the
array, with, say, input boxes to change items in the array ...

Will the array order always remain the same.

Can I count on, say, the first item in the array ALWAYS being ITEM_ID = 6
(for example), unless of course, an item is removed from the array at some
point.

I hope my question is clear.

I want to pass my form, with updated stuff, to a page that inserts the new
variables into the appropriate spots in the array while looping over the
array elements ... find the first item in the form listlen(), update, then
update the next and so on.

correct.

I set timeout = "300" and it still threw an error...

http://blah.com/GetReport.asp?daccnt=)i025699&dpasswd=test&dstate=NC&dcounty=WA&dapn=16080553000&dxml=1&dpcode=profpr

if I remove "&dstate=NC" it works fine and if I remove other parts aswell, but
all together it
dies.. Throws a: Connection Failure. Status code unavailable

A nice little trick

2003-02-14 Thread HOwens
I'm working on improving the functionality of my shopping cart.

One thing I've always hated about it (and I find this problem in other
shopping carts) is the "continue shopping" did take the user back to the
exact same previous page after adding an item to the cart ... continue
shopping links (including what I've done in the past) often take the user
back store front, not any interior pages the user might have been on.

Here's how I solve that problem. I put this on store pages:

Then on the shopping cart page, I my href with this:
index.cfm?#client.qString#

So far works well.

Of course, it only works if your dynamic pages are built through variables
passed in the query string.

H.

Re: Re:RE: RE: Highlighting search keyword problem

2003-02-14 Thread Dave Lyons
  Highlighting Search Terms
  faq232-1167

  If you search for "time" using a search utility, how do you highlight
the word "time" throughout the results, without also highlighting "sometime"
or "timeframe" or other variations? The trick is to use Regular
Expressions, or pattern matching.

  This assumes someone submitted a form with a keyword to be searched.
These tags work on the results before they are displayed.

  \3\4", "ALL")>

  \2\3", "ONE")>

  What does the \2 \3 and \4 mean? These are numbers to references
pieces of the input to a regular expression function like REReplaceNoCase().
For example, see the following:

  (\1 (\2)  (\3) (\4 (\5) ) )

  Look at the placement of parentheses and numbers, \1 starts at the
outermost pair of parentheses, and working your way in increases every
number. If they are on the same level of the hierarchy of parentheses, it
goes from left to right in the expression.

RE: Highlighting search keyword problem

2003-02-14 Thread Ben Doom
Instead of linking to
thedocpage.cfm
link to
highlightpage.cfm?term=search%20term&page=thedocpage.cfm

Let highlightpage.cfm do a cfhttp (there may be a more direct and efficient
way to do this, but this is off the cuff) and run your replace on the
contents, then display them.

CF executing a DTS package for a MS SQL server

2003-02-14 Thread j cc
Actually, there's back-door that has nothing to do with VB or COM...

-In enterprise manager, right click on your DTS, and choose "Schedule Package"

-Now schedule the Package for any time period.

-On the root tree for that DB server, go to "Management / SQL Server Agent / Jobs"

-Right click on the job you just created, and go to "Properties"

-2nd tab over is "Steps", go there

-Double click on the step you see, and there you'll see a command window with a
command like this

"DTSRun /~Zfdajkl;fjakf;s1359013u5rjfda;slf"

this will be the unique command line for your DTS job. Paste it in a text file, and
call it it "c:\DTS.bat"

now you can do:

and that is that.

RE: CFMX and J2EE

2003-02-14 Thread Vince Bonfanti
The O'Reilly book by Hans Bergsten is probably the best pure-JSP book on the
market. Be sure to get the 2nd edition:

  http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/jserverpages2/

If you're interested in both servlets and JSP, you might also want to look
at this free web site tutorial:

  http://www.apl.jhu.edu/~hall/java/Servlet-Tutorial/

The author of this tutorial, Marty Hall, has also published two excellent
books, "Core Servlets and JavaServer Pages" and "More Servlets and
JavaServer Pages", both published by Sun Microsystems Press/Prentice Hall
PTR. Links to info on both books can be found on the tutorial web site.

CFMX and J2EE

2003-02-14 Thread mario.ciliotta
Hi,

Can someone recommend a good beginners book that deals with the creation of JSP pages.
 Since we will be upgrading to CFMX for J2EE, it was recommended that I read up on JSP
pages so that I could take full advantage of the new environment. Sorry for the
slightly OT post but I figured someone must have also tried to read up on JSP for the
same reason and I hate to waste $50.00 on a book that is either to complicated or not
right.

Thanks in advance,

Mario

RE: RE: Highlighting search keyword problem

2003-02-14 Thread Raymond Camden
So basically your search returns matches as ids, and you link to
article.cfm?id=X or some such? If so, in your link, simply pass along
the search terms again. On your article.cfm, do (pseudo-code)...

#searchterm...

#data#

Highlighting search keyword problem

2003-02-14 Thread Tuan
Ok, I've searched and read many topics on how to highlight keywords from a search
result, but im still having problems figuring this out. All of the topics and examples
that i've seen shows how to do it if your search result(detailed) page is created by
ur search query. If thats the case then you would use the ReplaceNoCase function on
your search query. Or other examples showed that the text was already set to a
variable which then was used by the ReplaceNoCase function to highlight the text.

But my problem is what if in your application you have a search function that runs and
the search results shows a list of doc titles that contains the keyword that the user
searched. Now each doc title most likely has a different template name associated
with it. When you click on the title it will take you to different templates that
existed previously w/o having any relationship with the search query at all (except
for it contained that keyword). How can i apply the highlighting of the keywords to
these already existing documents? I'm sorry if this isn't very clear.

CFChart - Scale Labels.

Does anybody know if it is currently possible to complete remove all tic
labels and every thing else from a CFChart object? I would like to create a

borders, ect. But we are still left with the x and y axis tick labels.

flarenetworks.com dead?

2003-02-14 Thread megan
Hi all,
Does anybody use flarenetworks.com? I have a client who hosts with them. My
client claims their site has been down for 24 hours. They say they've been
down hours at a time on numerous occasions over the last couple of weeks.
The main flarenetworks web site is also down. Any and all phone numbers for
them that I try are busy. Did these guys just go out of business? What's
the general feeling of the level of service from these guys? I've been
trying them out on this one site for about a year. I'm wondering whether or
not to give them more business. Any ideas or suggestions on how to figure
out what happened to my client's web site and when it may be back in service?
Thanks,
Megan

Re: Developer Edition IP address

2003-02-14 Thread Christian Cantrell
Yes, you can demo your application to as many people as you want,
however only DevNet subscribers can actually develop with the server.

You have to run the numbers and see if it makes sense for you. If your
three developers use other Macromedia tools that are included in a
DevNet subscription, then DevNet makes a lot of sense. If you only use
ColdFusion, I would recommend purchasing a single CFMX Server license
and letting everyone develop with it.

Thanks for all the replies. It really helped me understand the difference between the

Replace() looks for a literal string within another string and replaces it

Replace(contentstring, stringtoreplace, replacement);

With REReplace(), you can search for and replace with regular expressions.
This makes the function much more powerful and often more useful, but at the
expense of overhead.

For simple replaces, use the simple replace() :-)

If you want to know more about regular expressions, House of Fusion also
hosts the CF-RegEx list, on which several of the CF Regex Ninjas answer
questions both simple and advanced. We'd be happy to help you out.

RE: a different cffile upload ?

2003-02-14 Thread HOwens
Because my hosting environment is a cluster, I need to use a UNC path, while
my local environment is just one machine. So for me, the
GetDirectoryFromPath() method doesn't work.

Here's what I do -- on the Application.cfm page:

//set DSN variable
request.GLDSN='localDSN';

request.siteurl='http://localhost/mysite/';
request.securesiteurl='http://localhost/mysite/';
request.pictureupload='c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite';
request.filewrite='c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite\';

//linkpath, below, is generally a cold fusion mapping set up
in the administrator
request.cfmapping='/sitemapping/';

//set DSN variable
request.GLDSN='liveDSN';

request.siteurl='http://www.livedomain.com/';
request.securesiteurl='https://www.livedomain.com/';
request.pictureupload='\\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite';
request.filewrite='\\\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite\';

//linkpath, below, is generally a cold fusion mapping set up
in the administrator
request.cfmapping='/sitemapping/';

With this system, I don't have to keep switching things around depending on
what server I'm using (I actually set the Application.cfm page for about
four different server environments I might us for devleopment, production
and deployment).

Maybe this will help you.

H.

Well, I would have thought that URL.somefield is still
"value1,value2,value3" but that's apparently not true. Hmph.

You could treat the string as a list with & as the delimiter and use a loop.

Differences in SELECT type="multiple" on POST and GET methods

2003-02-14 Thread Pete Ruckelshaus
I'm having a real brain fart.

The application I'm working on originally used POST methods for form submissions. On
SELECT TYPE="MULTIPLE" fields, the output was handled very nicely and the data was
posted as "somefield=value1,value2,value3" if multiple items were selected. This made
dealing with the values very simple for many reasons.

However, for various reasons, I have had to convert everything over to use the GET
method for form submission. On the same SELECT TYPE="MULTIPLE" field, the data is now
sent as "somefield=value1&somefield=value2&somefield=value3"

Is there a simple way to "convert" the data that looks like
"somefield=value1&somefield=value2&somefield=value3" into values that look like
"somefield=value1,value2,value3"? Do I loop through it treating SOMEFIELD as a
collection? Is there an easier or more straightforward way of doing this? I'm using
CF5 Ent.

Thanks for any help.

Pete

RE: a different cffile upload ?

2003-02-14 Thread Ben Doom
I believe that destination is a local filesystem path, so something like
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\sitename\subdir\filename.jpg

If you need to find that location dynamically, you can use something like
GetDirectoryFromPath(GetCurrentTemplatePath()) to get the absolute local
filesystem path to the calling template.

HTH.

Does anyone have an example of CF executing a DTS package for a MS SQL

RE: Developer Edition IP address

2003-02-14 Thread Frank Mamone
Just to clarify, Chris, are you saying that I can demo on the server to as
many people as I want, but need a license for every developer?

I'll go look at the EULA an see if I can figure it out.

Thanks again,

Frank

RE: endeca search engine

2003-02-14 Thread Raymond Camden
(Sending in for my boss...)

We have used the Endeca engine, and we're quite happy with it. We're in

production now - the front end is Java (JSP/beans/servlets), so we're
using
Endeca's Java API. We have done proof-of-concept with ASP/COM and
Endeca,
but if you're comfortable with Java, I say go there.

The Endeca stuff is incredibly fast. I didn't really even think it was
working at first, it responded so fast (and no, I'm not getting any
commission from them!)

I can easily see the way to integrate with CFMX - create a few Java
objects
as a proxy to handle the queries into the Endeca engine, and write a few

custom tags or CFCs to wrap the Java objects; then the front end could
be
done in CF. We haven't built this out, but I can't see any problems.

If you have more specific questions, I'd be happy to talk to you about
them, on- or off-list. I am personally on the digest, so please cc: me
with any responses to the list.

Re: Developer Edition IP address

Or have only one developer connect to it at any one time, right?

That's ridiculus.

You really need to look at having a corporate CFMX version for development
servers.

Thanks Chis.

Forget this request for help ... I've solved the problem.

I don't remember, now, why I wrapped my loop in a function, but I thought I
did it to try and fix some error.

Once removed the function and just ran the loop based on the form
submission, everything worked fine.

We'll put out a call for beta testers on this list when we're ready. The
official name will be "BlueDragon for .NET" but if you want to call it
"BD.NET" for short, that's OK. :-)

Use the following in the connectstring:

Re: Developer Edition IP address

2003-02-14 Thread Christian Cantrell
I see your point, however according to your argument, why take any
precautions at all against the illegal use of software? If people
either comply with EULAs or they don't, why don't all software
companies just make fully functional versions of all their products
downloadable for free with the expectation that the honest people will
pay while the dishonest people would have just gone and downloaded
cracked versions anyway? We all know that illegal versions of
Macromedia software exist, however we don't want people downloading
them from us.

Yes, the CFMX server is in no way a limited edition, so using it for 3
developers will be fine. Just keep in mind that all 3 of those
developers must be DevNet subscribers. For more information on the
DevNet EULA, see the following URLs:

RE: REReplace and Replace function

2003-02-14 Thread Ben Doom
Replace() looks for a literal string within another string and replaces it
with yet a third string:
Replace(contentstring, stringtoreplace, replacement);

Here's an example.

If I wanted to remove the number 1 from this string, that's simply

Replace(myString,"1","","ALL")

But if I wanted to remove all the numbers, I'd have to do

Replace(myString,"1","","ALL")
Replace(myString,"2","","ALL")
Replace(myString,"3","","ALL")
Replace(myString,"4","","ALL")
Replace(myString,"5","","ALL")
Replace(myString,"6","","ALL")
Replace(myString,"7","","ALL")
Replace(myString,"8","","ALL")
Replace(myString,"9","","ALL")
Replace(myString,"0","","ALL")

Or

REReplace(myString,"[^0-9]","","ALL")

Regular Expressions can be quite powerful, and I've only scratched the
surface. The syntax can be hard to grok, though. (I don't pretend to be
anything but a Regular Expression amateur.)

RE: CF - PHP comparisons?

2003-02-14 Thread Vince Bonfanti
Yes, BlueDragon for .NET is completely implemented as CLI-based managed code
(well...there is a little unmanaged C++ code in there, but that's also true
for the Java version of BlueDragon, and for CFMX).

It's not clear at this point that we're going to support in BlueDragon for .NET. It's technically possible, but if you
want to use Java objects, why not run the Java version? Similarly,
BlueDragon for .NET will support to access CLI-based
objects written in C#, Visual Basic.NET, etc.; of course, the Java version
of BlueDragon won't support this.

2003-02-14 Thread charlie griefer
Tuan writes:

> Can somebody explain what the difference is between the REReplace and Replace

replace() is a simple function to replace one character (or string of
characters) with another.

for example, in the string "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog",
you could replace the word 'fox' with 'goldfish' by doing:

reReplace() uses regular expressions (pattern matching) to determine what
item/string/characters to replace. Instead of specifying a particular
string/character to be replaced, you can specify a pattern (for example, the
word 'foo' only if it's the last word in a sentence).

I unfortunately still haven't fulfilled my ambition of learning regular
expressions...but I'm sure that Ben Doom, the cf-talk RegExp Ninja (tm) will
be happy to elaborate there :)

In the "main page":

Call the page you were opening in a new window in the iframe using
