Hi there

I tried that and still not with any degree of luck. This is proving a
little frustrating - I'm close to getting it done but still miles away so it
seems.

Re: Simple .NET Class

2007-09-14 Thread vishnu prasad
Hi

Did you have the Empty Constructor in .Net. also have u used Namespace for ur
Class library . if u used namespace u have to call like namespace.classname in
the CF

If u still face any issue can u send me the .Net source code to wrvishnu
(at)Gmail(dot)(com)

I'm trying to invoke a simple .NET class from CF8

Can't get it to work, just get

Detail

The assembly that contains the class must be provided to the assembly
attribute.

Message

Class CfTest not found in the specified assembly list.

cfobject action=create type=.net name=test class=CfTest
assembly=D:/Test.dll /

The dll I wrote, really simple just has a method to return a fixed integer.

The reason I wrote this is to try to trouble shoot why I can't get another
.NET sample working.

Any ideas.

I've not tested on CF, but in kRegExpEditor, (.)+ would match that portion

Re: Very basic question about amp;lt;cfmail

2007-09-14 Thread NUGROHO NOTO
Hi Thanks for all suggestion... but still I cannot find solution.
Okay... let me describe once again.

We have 3 kinds of members...
type 1 : want to receive news by ordinary email (html)
type 2 : want to receive news by cellphone email (Plain text only)
type 3 : by fax. (later.. will try to send fax from those HTML page)

I make the message content in database, so that from here.. we can send
automatically to ordinary email (html), cellphone email (plain text) and later
by fax (using fax server).

So... I try to avoid making separate content for separate members... just
from this one type of content I can send to all members. (html, plain, and fax)

The problem is... How can I send plain text email taken from a HTML content.
page

for example... the actual content are as follows.
Pline1BRline2BRline3/P

How can I send those above in plain text but still have break line ?

If I just replace those BR with chr(13)  chr(10);
the result would be just like this :
line1 line2 line3

Notice above.. that the line is just continue in one line
what I want is : (with line break)
line1
line2
line3

What is the character code to mimic the carriage return button
so that those plain text message understand ?

Please Help - deploying CF 7.2 enterprise on Jrun 4 / unix

2007-09-14 Thread Giles Roadnight
Hi All

I'm having some problems with an install of CF 7. I was running a
deply script that had previously worked fine but this time it messed
up CF server. When I opened a page it said:

There is no web application configured to service your request

When I look at the JRun Management Console Cold Fision is no longer
listed for the site I am using.
Before I have re-deployed CF which worked fine and maintained all of
the settings. This time I am having to deploy it from scratch.
I found an ear to use:

/rootdirname/jrun4/servers/warsears/adobe/cf7_2.ear

and it seemed to deploy fine. However when I try to load a file from
the server it says it can't find the file. Cf is looking in

/rootdirname/jrun4/servers/apt/cfflex-ear/cfflex-war

instead of

/rootdirname/jrun4/servers/apt/cfusion-ear/cfusion-war

in Jrun ADmin I've noticed that all teh other sites have the root
directory set to:

file:/rootdirname/jrun4/servers/app name/cfusion-ear/

but after I have deployed the new build it is:

file:/rootdirname/jrun4/servers/warsears/adobe/cf7_2.ear

I really jsut wnat to know how I can deploy it to the cfusion-war
directory instead of the cfflex-war directory.

Working out how to re-setup the directories will be the next challenge!

I really hope someone can help.

Thanks

Giles.

I use

cfquery datasource=dsn
Update table set IsDeleted = 1

IsDeleted or isActive is an extra column I create in all of my tables.

The all of my database extractions have an extra and statement in them.
cfquery datasource=dsn name=rsGetRecords
Select cols from table

I've found that even with the javascript popup box, people still continue to

deleted. You might be able to get this record from a backup tape but this
would be a great deal quicker.

Re: Links in CFDOCUMENT

2007-09-14 Thread Chandan Kumar
Hi Mikkel,

I have posted this on adobe forum but i will post here too.

There is an argument keepBookmark. By default its false. Keep it to true and it
will solve this problem.

A little more about keepBookmark:
This variable tells us whether user wants to retain/merge bookmarks,page
labels, structure, OCC etc in the merged pdf. Somehow links in pdf's generated
through cfdocument require this to honor them. So as a thumb rule unless
required otherwise keep it true

I am not sure if internal links( by adding #page=2) will work.I shall check
upon that but creating an anchor and pointing that should work though.

 Okay... let me describe once again.

 We have 3 kinds of members...
 type 1 : want to receive news by ordinary email (html)
 type 2 : want to receive news by cellphone email (Plain text only)
 type 3 : by fax. (later.. will try to send fax from those HTML page)

 I make the message content in database, so that from here.. we can send
 automatically to ordinary email (html), cellphone email (plain text) and
 later by fax (using fax server).

 So... I try to avoid making separate content for separate members... just
 from this one type of content I can send to all members. (html, plain, and
 fax)

 The problem is... How can I send plain text email taken from a HTML
 content. page

 for example... the actual content are as follows.
 Pline1BRline2BRline3/P

 How can I send those above in plain text but still have break line ?

 If I just replace those BR with chr(13)  chr(10);
 the result would be just like this :
 line1 line2 line3

 Notice above.. that the line is just continue in one line
 what I want is : (with line break)
 line1
 line2
 line3

 What is the character code to mimic the carriage return button
 so that those plain text message understand ?

I would have the user clink into a text area, but that is clunky.

cfset finishtime = 11:00:00
cfset timeremaining = Now()
cfset hoursremaining =  DateDiff(h, TimeFormat(Now(), hh:mm:ss),

cfset minutesremaining =  DateDiff(n, TimeFormat(Now(), hh:mm:ss),

cfset minutesremaining = minutesremaining - 60
/cfif
cfset timeremaining = hoursremaining : minutesremaining
cfoutput
#finishtime# #timeremaining#br /
/cfoutput

 - Wil Genoveses

  have a page in my application where I want to refresh the screen
 every 60 seconds without the user having to click enter - so I have
 used the meta http-equiv=refresh content=60 / and it seems to
 work well.

 Basically I want to display a clock of sessions with Gym
 instructors/Personal Trainers.

 In my db i have the field finishtime which is stored. I have 2 records
 in the file one has the finish time as 17:00:00 and the other has the
 finish time as 18:00:00

 The system time is displayed on the screen as:

 05:54:49 PM

 My results on the screen are:

 Finish Time Time Remaining
 04:20:00 PM 10:25:11
 06:00:00 PM 12:05:11

 These time are somewhat out and I cant figure out why. I think I have
 taken the correct aproach but if anyone can advise on a better
 approach that would be much appreciated.

 I have checked the program again with the time now
 06:00:30 PM and the time remaining now shows as 58:29 when it should
 simply say 1:30 overtime

 My code is:

 cfset timeremaining = 0
 cfset timeremaining = Now()
 cfset timeremaining = qgetbookings.finishtime - TimeFormat(Now(),
 hh:mm:ss)
 #timeformat (timeremaining, hh:mm:ss)#

 Thanks in advance for any thoughts/feedback

Re: capturing barcode keystrokes

2007-09-14 Thread James Holmes
There's no way of knowing whether the keys come from the barcode
scanner or the user's keyboard, unless you have a special character
programmed into the scanner as the start and end of the barcode
sequence (a character that can't be typed by the user with any ease -
have a look at the ascii set for these).

RE: Getting error message on one page only

2007-09-14 Thread Rich
 You will get a 'method cannot be found' if you are passing invalid
 arguments too it, because CF searches for a method with matching
 arguments. You could have 2 functions:

 New(int)

 And

 New(int, int)

Do you mean one function with two arguments, one of which that is not
required? You cannot overload methods in CF, and will encounter an error
that you cannot define a method with the same name twice if you attempt it.

RE: java classloader

2007-09-14 Thread Daniel Baughman
Kris, Dan,

Thanks for feedback. I'm understanding that the javaloader.cfc and the
classloader .jar should be in the working directory of the script, right?

I have classloader-20070406174551.jar, JavaLoader.cfc, and
metadata-extractor-2.3.1.jar all in the same directory as the script and I'm
using the following code to use them:

 photoFile = createObject(java,java.io.File).init(photo);
 //set the path
 paths = ArrayNew(1);
 paths[1] = expandPath(metadata-extractor-2.3.1.jar);
 //create the loader
 loader = createObject(component, JavaLoader).init(paths);
 //create the JpegMetadataReader instace
 JpegMetadataReader =
loader.create(com.drew.imaging.jpeg.JpegMetadataReader);
 //Read jpg file
 JpegMetadata = JpegMetadataReader.readMetadata(photoFile);
 //get directory iterator
 JpegDirectories = jpegMetadata.getDirectoryIterator();

Does the classloader jar need to be in the lib/ext dirs or soemthing? I've
tried a few different things on two different servers.

 We are trying to figure out a way to right text files to a user's local
hard

That is almost certainly not possible because browsers are designed to stop
this kind of thing. That's for malware and viruses. Your best option would
be to write the file to a temp directory on your server, then make the
resulting file available as a downloadable file.

Obviously the data is hardcoded and would idelly be called from a db.

To include this script within another page you could maybe utilse a iframe:

div align=center
iframe src =PATH TO YOUR SCRIPT width=550px height=350px frameborder=
0
/iframe
/div

You will need to get a google map api key from google maps they are free.

Hope this helps.

CFWindow Refresh problem

2007-09-14 Thread Asim Manzur
Having issue with cfwindow.

Created the function called
function makeWindow(windowname, windowTitle,goWhere,width4window,
height4window) {
ColdFusion.Window.create(windowname,windowTitle,goWhere,

{refreshOnShow:true,center:true,modal:true,width:width4window,height:height4window});
}

and making a call to the function
cfoutputmakeWindow('summary','Project
Summary','#request.self#?fuseaction=#attributes.XFA.btnSummary#project_id='+MyProjID,700,500);/cfoutput

The problem is when this window opens its not refreshOnShow.

if i open this window. Inside that window I have a form, i submit the form
saw the confirmation page, and closed the window.

now if ever I come back to same window, it shows me the confirmation page,
not the form page.

Also is there any way to get the window name from Javascript?

Any trick to close the window if you don't know the name of the window? or
just to check if this window is open or not?

Thanks.

Can't be done, as far as I know, like the other fellow said - but the
next best thing is to write the file out to your webserver's file
system, then automatically kick over to a page that serves up said file
as a download with cfcontent.

Re: How to write files to a local hard disk?

2007-09-14 Thread Ian Skinner
While this is an very bad idea for reasons already clarified. It could
be possible if the server and client are on a common network, such as a
corporate intranet. If the two computers can be made to share file
resources over this network with proper configurations and permissions,
then ColdFusion could write a file to the client's shared drive.

Other then this very special and specific scenario, then no this is not
possible for very good reasons.

I have an app I wrote in PHP that scans pharmaceuticals in and I used the

I dont know of any other way for the browser to see the keys. I guess you

RE: Simple .NET Class

2007-09-14 Thread Dawson, Michael
No problem. Your blog is very helpful!

Here is one for you...

Show us how to call a .NET method that expects an object.

Specifically, how to create an Active Directory account using the
DirectoryServices assembly.

cfset parent = createObject(dotnet,
System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry,
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\System.directoryservices.
dll)

I can get about this far, but I can't call the methods that require
object parameters.

I can also do this in VB.NET inside a SQL 2005 SSIS package, but I can't
figure out how to convert it to CF8.

If you can figure this out, you will the hero of many, many people.

was(webservice issues) Protocol problems

2007-09-14 Thread Eric Roberts
Ok...got the webservice running. Now we are running into an issue that is
butting heads with our security policies. SOAP is still considered html for
this, so we cannot use it. What I was thinking was using RMI via java to do
essentially what the web service is doing. I was thinking of it calling to
a cfc (if this is possible...keep in mind I am still atthe thoretical level)
that resides in our trusted zone that creates a java object that is called
by a java object on our DMZ. I am blazing new territory for myself here.
If this isn't possible, then I am just going to havbe to learn EJB's. Is
this even feasable? Our main problem is that we don;t have the Java
resources to do this. I know java somewhat...mainly from a java in cf
perspective, so we are looking ofr a mainly CF solution. Any help, again,
would be appreciated (and thanks to everyone who piped in earlier..you guys
were a lot of help!) It's amazing how after 10 years of doing this you can
feel like such a noob hehehhe *grin*

Re: cfcontent - excel - numbers beginning with 0

2007-09-14 Thread Terry Schmitt
You state that you are creating an Excel file...
Is that an actual Excel binary file or is it a CSV file?

As Barney stated, Excel isn't going to allow a number with leading zeros. You
can format to display zeros in any app including Excel, but formatting and
actual data content are 2 different beasts.

If your users will be importing the data into their accounting software as a
true number, then who cares if it has leading zeros. I'm sure that the
accounting database will not store a number with leading zeros anyway. If it
does, then it is text, not numeric.

If you are creating CSV content that is streamed and opened in Excel, you can
use =0001234 and Excel will display the leading zeros. Keep in mind that even
though Excel displays it as you wish, the CSV content still contains =0001234.

So...

col1,col2
1,=001

will display as you wish in Excel, but sure won't import straight into the
accounting package.

If the users are reviewing the data and possibly modifying before importing,
then they can open in Excel using the above format, make their changes and
save. When Excel save the file, the equal and double quotes are stripped and
the new CSV content will be:

col1,col2
1,001

which should import into most anything. But guess what? If they reopen the file
in Excel, the leading zeros are gone!

I think you really need to decide on what your requirement is; text formatted
with leading zeros or an actual numeric value.

Terry

 I am creating an excel file in cf7 and all works well except when a
 part number begins with a 0 - i need the number to always have 5
 digits as in 01234 or 12345.

 i have tried doing a Numberformat(partnum, '0') to no avail.

 can i force using TabChar or something?

 noticed the the field in the created excel file will not accept a 0
 even typed in manually.

 thanks in advance

Re: FCKEditor Revisited

2007-09-14 Thread Matt Robertson
Check out CFFM as an alternative file manager. Its easy to integrate into
FCKEditor and doesn't suffer from some of the BS that the included system
does.

I see the FCK author has a Finder that is really slick... but no CF version
yet.

A couple versions back I helped write a better file manager for FCK with one
or two other CF guys via the FCK forum. What I did was mostly plug
loopholes and try to put in tests that checked to see if some clown had
managed to get to a folder they shouldn't be in, and if they were to deal
with them. IIRC the early v2 file managers could allow folder traversal to
forbidden lands. I haven't gotten too deep into the current code base as I
chucked it out in favor of CFFM.

Get Next Scheduled Date

2007-09-14 Thread Brian Dumbledore
Didnt' how else to put in the subject. Here is the scenario.. Given a date, say
you have to calculate the corresponding date in the next month, 'corresponding'
as in, if 'theDate' is say third wednesday, then 'finalDate' should be third
wednesday of next month. I think you got the idea.

Ofcourse we cann't do this for 'extra' days like the 'fifth' ones, but for all
reasonable dates we should be able to. Below is what I wrote.. and it works ( I

Please help.

So what better way is there.

Erik, Many scanners out there allow you to set up custom strings that appear
at the beginning of the scan or after the scan, or both. It's a firmware

Good luck.

Cffeed - creating RSS Feeds and guid

2007-09-14 Thread Nathan C. Smith
I'm trying to use cffeed in ColdFusion 8 to create an RSS 2.0 feed. I
basically lifted the example from the docs.I'm running into problems
with the guid field. I used Feed validator to check what I had
(http://feedvalidator.org/docs/warning/MissingGuid.html) and it told me I
was missing a GUID field.

I added the field in my code:
cfset myStruct.item[i].guid = qryRSS.permalink

And CF told me it had to be a struct. So if I create a new struct for guid,
what do I use as names to refer to the fields? I don't think it is clear in
the docs. Can someone correct me?

I'm not entirely comfortable with structures so if I'm being daft please
point that out gently.  Thanks.

Re: Cffeed - creating RSS Feeds and guid

2007-09-14 Thread Raymond Camden
Don't feel too bad. The docs for CFFEED leave a _lot_ out. This blog
article is a good example:

http://www.coldfusionjedi.com/index.cfm/2007/8/22/Metadata-properties-for-CFFEED

So as to your problem, I looked here:

http://feedvalidator.org/docs/rss2.html#ltguidgtSubelementOfLtitemgt

and I see one example has guid as a simple value. One has it like so:

http://feedvalidator.org/docs/rss2.html#ltguidgtSubelementOfLtitemgt

So this is what I'd try.

cfset myStruct.item[i].guid = structNew()
cfset myStruct.item[i].guid.href = qrtRSS.permalink

I believe href will then be used for the value. If not, try link perhaps.

Gave those a try. Cfdump shows the values are making it into the struct,
but something goes wrong in cffeed.

The error: The system has attempted to use an undefined value, which
usually indicates a programming error, either in your code or some system
code.
Null Pointers are another name for undefined values.

I assume that means that the name of the vlue they expect is empty and
different from the one I have given them.

I tried url, href, permalink, link, guid, value and among others.

If I work backwards and read a feed into cffeed there is a linkhref in the

You shouldn't be messing around with the structure of the cfc's and

This is why it isn't working for you.

The best option is to put Javaloader in your web root, and invoke it

  photoFile = createObject(java,java.io.File).init(photo);

  paths[1] = expandPath(metadata-extractor-2.3.1.jar);

 Does the classloader jar need to be in the lib/ext dirs or soemthing? I've

 Wondering what tools software people have used for doing this.

 Look forward to seeing replies.

You may also try FusionCharts. It can easily be integrated with ColdFusion. The
online documentation of FusionCharts has a separate section on how to use it
with ColdFusion. You can get more information at: http://www.fusioncharts.com/

To read the documentation, visit: http://www.fusioncharts.com/Docs/index.html
