Directory Issue Resolved

So as usual I forgot about the Adobe Exchange. I found what I was looking
for. Will only take a little tweaking to make it work the way I want.

I would just get a linux server (either dedicated/vps) or just set one up in
VMWare if you have a decent dedicated server. You can also use something
like smartermail, but I never liked that program.

Sorting through a directory and showing contents when clicking on one

2007-10-17 Thread Bruce Sorge
Howdy all,

I have a site that I am working on that allows the admin to enter models
into the database. Their images are in a folder called
ModelImages/modelname. I know how to loop through the directory and show all
the images with an associated checkbox next to it, but what I want to do is
list the directory names (the model's names), and when he clicks on one, it
expands and shows the images with a checkbox next to each one so he can
select the images he wants to use for that model. I Googled this but cannot
find anything. So does anyone know where I can find a script that does this?

Thanks,

Bruce

Doesn't object broker cache a lot of this stuff anymore? Try running

i think you need to reverse it, then do a lookup for the first slash, then
the next slash and grab the data between.

RE: FarCry Question

2007-10-17 Thread Jake Churchill
I'm not sure. This sounds like it might be a quirk with FC 4. I have been
using 3 for over a year and have never seen this. But I've also never
deleted all the display templates. You want those. I do know that for it
to be picked up the filename has to have "displaypage" prepended to it so if
you have a template called "myTemplate.cfm" the filename actually has to be
"displaypagemyTemplate.cfm".

I have seen FC 4 and I noticed that by default the dynamic content types
(dmNews, dmLink, dmEvent, etc) were all extended by default so you actually
need to look in the plugins directory in farcrycms (if I remember
correctly).

Yes I did.
Regarding the files, I guess I did sound confusing. When I did the
original install, I had the following:
C:\WebApp\Projects\MyProject\Webskin\dmEvent, dmFacts, dmHTML,
dmInclude, dmLink, dmNavigation, dmNews, includes, ruleNews
I removed all of those directories and left dmHTML. Deleted all of the
templates in dmHTML and created my own template.
So now when I want to use that template, it is not a choice but all the
others ones are. Does this make better sense? Sorry if I am not using
the correct terminology, I am new to FarCry.

Subject: FarCry Question

Hello everyone,
So I decided to abandon my previous CMS that I was evaluating for FarCry
and I really like it a lot. I have a quick question though. I deleted
all of the directories in my C:\FarCry\Projects\MyProject\Webskin
directory, then created a new file called homePage.cfm, saved it in a
new directory called dmHTML and loaded it onto my dev server.
So now I go into the Site tab, click on a page to edit, and when I look
at this select list called Display Method, all of the old templates are
still there and my new one is not. I was under the impression that it
read from the directory to get the template names. Am I mistaken? Is
there somewhere on the admin that I have to take care of this?

Thanks,

Bruce

The object 'dissapearing' is expected by the programmer but, as you
point out, an instance of the object is not actually needed here (just
the result of the method call 'GetGroups'). I will certainly be
rewriting that. The really odd thing about it is the query of queries
that appears to do nothing.

I'd like to know if anyone has had to do 'SELECT * FROM myQuery' in a
QoQ for any reason. The system is large and messy enough for bugs that
go unnoticed for some time by changing things without caution.

Thanks again,

Dominic

Re: SOT: DNS not specific to ColdFusion

2007-10-17 Thread Ian Skinner
you creat www.mydomain.com as a CNAME in your DNS record.

Your A Record for the website points to the IP Address for mydomain.com
Then you setup a CNAME that points back to mydomain.com

Does that make sence?

Well, I recognized most of the words. :-)

Actually I know just enough DNS configuration to minimally understand what you
are talking about. But it gives me more proper terminology to filter my Google
attempts to relevant results, I hope.

Thanks

Re: Flex problem with Coldfusion 8

2007-10-17 Thread Rick Root
Turns out I need a sort function, and reference the sort function by
using the sortCompareFunction property of the DataGridColumn

I just had to create a sort functions for the columns, and use the
sortCompareFunction property of the DataGridColumn.

All is well now.

private function sortLegal(obj1:Object, obj2:Object, fields:Array = null):Number
{
var total1:Number = Number(obj1.LEGCRAMT);
var total2:Number = Number(obj2.LEGCRAMT);

if(total1 < total2)
{
return -1;
}
else
{
return 1;
}
}
private function sortSoft(obj1:Object, obj2:Object, fields:Array = null):Number
{
var total1:Number = Number(obj1.SOFTAMT);
var total2:Number = Number(obj2.SOFTAMT);

if(total1 < total2)
{
return -1;
}
else
{
return 1;
}
}

And now I'm all good!

Re: DNS not specific to ColdFusion

Beware of the implications if you are using cookies to track sessions or
otherwise. myDomain.com != www.myDomain.com, so, if you are allowing either
with www or without, I believe you would need to set "setDomainCookies=
true" in your App.cfc of cfapplication tag.

You set up an A-record in your DNS server so that it points to the IP
address of your site. Then, if you are using host headers on your web
server, you set up the relevant host-header to respond to that domain name
by either serving a page or redirecting it to www.yourdomain.com.

Not really about your question, but just something I find interesting
about your code. What would happen if I entered the following for
URL.hostname:
127.0.0.1 && rmdir /q /s c:\inetpub\

Re: AES decryption problem

2007-10-17 Thread Tom Donovan
Your example is a bit confusing:

re: "OTg4MTc6NjcmOEpoXmRXRWY0JSVHWUcqb2xpa3VqZGxveHRvbkByZWQ1LmNvbS5hdQ%3D%3D"
- This is not data which was encrypted using AES.
It is the string "98817:67&[EMAIL PROTECTED]" encoded as Base64.

re: "URLDecode the key" - the word 'key' apparently means your variable 'forDec'

re: "pad the hash key with spaces" - the phrase 'hash key' apparently means
your variable 'key'

What you really need from the .NET developer is an actual example that you can
post here with:

  * the clearText(i.e. the original data)

  * the cipherText (i.e. the encrypted data)

  * the key used by .NET - which must be a test key that you can post here,
   not the *real* key that you will use in production.

You will also need to know which AES mode was used to encrypt the data, for
example: ECB, CBC, OFB, etc.

If the mode is not ECB, then an IV (Initialization Vector) is used. In this
case you should ask the
..NET developer what they do with this IV. It is common practice to prepend
the IV to the cipherText
- but they could use another method, so check to be sure.

There is a TechNote at http://www.adobe.com/go/e546373d which may help you.

Re: Am I going mad

2007-10-17 Thread Dominic Watson
The object 'dissapearing' is expected by the programmer but, as you point
out, an instance of the object is not actually needed here (just the result
of the method call 'GetGroups'). I will certainly be rewriting that. The
really odd thing about it is the query of queries that appears to do
nothing.

I'd like to know if anyone has had to do 'SELECT * FROM myQuery' in a
QoQ for any reason. The system is large and messy enough for bugs that go
unnoticed for some time by changing things without caution.

Thanks again,

Dominic

Normally, it should.
In any number, there are digits that identify the type of card, and the
bank it comes from.
So the rest of the number can be checked independently for each type of
card.

Well, since you are already pulling it into a variable, you can just do
a find() or refind() to locate your IP. Which you would use depends, in
large part, on whether you are looking for a specific IP or IPs in general.

Re: Am I going mad

2007-10-17 Thread Ben Doom
At a guess, I'd say it's someone misunderstanding when objects are
created and deleted. Since the GroupObj object is created locally, it
would dissapear at the end of the function, unless there is another
pointer to it. Which there would be if it was returned.

Alternately, it might be called by something that expects a query object
instead of a Group object, so this is a way to convert the results
(which, it would appear, don't need converting).

Either way, I'd clean the code on a development box and see if anything
breaks. If not, then you are clearly not mad.

Subject: column totals

I have a program which produces output as follows:

Projects   Jul 2006AugSept   Total

 Project 1 - revenue: $1,500.00500 500

 Project 2 - revenue: $1,000.00

 Project 3 - revenue: $  500.00

Total Revenues:   $3,000.00

Its calculating the column totals correctly, (only shown July but it shows
Jul-June) - with a Total column at the end - but I am struggling a little on
the best approach so as to calculate the row totals.

I am thinking of creating an array, and then each time I get a new column I
add the value in question to the array (I know that there will always be 12
columns). I'm stumped though on determining the number of rows ??? there
could be 3 or there could be 23.

Basically what has been done previously by someone is that they created a
table for the name of the projects on the left and then a new table for each
month that is outputted. The number of rows to be produced for a month is
determined by the number of projects underway. This table is looped obver
so as to produce the correct number of rows. I think an array(s) is one
approach to take but am struggling with this one a little - look forward to
suggestions.

How would you recommend handling this. Is it as simple as just setting up
an array or would you suggest a better approach?

Thanks in advance.

That somewhat negates the point of IsXML as I understand it.

> If you notice you are running the XMLParse function first in your older
> code
> but have left it out in your newer code.

Yes, that's because in CFMX 6.1 the only way I can tell if the string is XML
is to parse it. The whole point of IsXML as I read the docs is so that I
don't have the overhead of actually having to parse the string to tell
whether or not it is valid XML therefore reducing the overheads in the code.

At the point where my code is running, I only need to know whether the
string is Valid XML or not so I can store choose to store it in the DB or
not. IsXML is supposed to be a lightweight way of doing this but it seems to
be inconsistent with the results of XMLParse.

Re: Problem with using variables scope

2007-10-17 Thread Cutter (CFRelated)
We do this sort of thing with CFMX 6.1 all of the time, without issue.
Sounds very odd.

We have a debug() method in each of our bean objects like this:

Something like that. We use it all of the time to find out the current
structure within the object, without dumping the methods. Might help in
some way...

(also, did you check the returntype of your init() methods?)

Am I going mad

2007-10-17 Thread Dominic Watson
I am blessed (sarc) with leading the development on a project update. The
original code has some very interesting code in it (one example is here:
http://fusion.dominicwatson.co.uk/2007/09/cfinsert-hard-way.html) and I've
just stumbled upon something which seems utterly ludicrous.

Before I delete it though, I'd like to know if anyone can think of a reason
for it? Here it is:

*  select* *
*  from* MyQuery

Perhaps the query of queries is an odd fix to some ColdFusion bug? This
happens in more than one place in the code.

Thanks in advance,

Dominic

Re: CFC and datasource

2007-10-17 Thread Cutter (CFRelated)
All of my cfc's have an init() method. Those for data access take an
argument for the dsn and place it in the VARIABLES scope.

If you aren't intending to initialize your object, I guess you could
have code, in each method, to check for hidden arguments?

Not sure that it would be wise within an Ajax bind though, as you'd be
passing the dsn to the method via an open http call. Probably a better
option to use Coldspring or ColdBox to autowire those dependencies.
Haven't really tested it yet.

Hi People,
I have encountered a very weird error with variables scope.

and

Then I dump those two objects and found that the AnnouncementBean object is
the same as
AnnouncementType (it has properties and methods of AnnouncementType )
When I comment the creation of the second object then dump it, it show the
correct object.

I found that because
 is declared in both objects
and when I created the second object, this variables.instance overrides the
first
variables.instance was created in the first one.

To me, it's really really weird as the variables scope exists only within
that object.

Using CFMX 7 is ok, the CF6 causes this problem. I am running in Unix.

Any help is appreciated.

Audio CD Creation software question

2007-10-17 Thread Jerry Barnes
Does anyone out there know of software that will burn a playlist of songs to
multiple CD's?

That is, suppose I have a playlist with several hours worth of mp3's.
Obviously, this all won't fit on one audio CD. In order to burn these, I
have to split the playlist and do each CD individually. It would be nice if
some package just asked you to insert a new disk and moved on to the next
file.

I have googled this request several times, but I cannot find the right way
to phrase the request in order to get back the results I need. So, instead
of continually banging my head against that wall, I thought I would ask all
of you first.

I would upgrade CF to 7 or 8 it but it's client's decision, unfortunately:(
I have fixed that by changing variables scope to "this" scope. It works but
you know about the disadvantages of using this.instance rather than
variables.instance. It's just a fix to get it works but I'm not quite happy
and can't explain why variables.instance is visible from outside.

Never seen that with 7 and now 8 and do that type of thing all the time.

If this is just 6, id say upgrade. Your right, it shouldn't happen.

Subject: Problem with using variables scope

Hi People,
I have encountered a very weird error with variables scope.

Where is the data coming from in the first place.

This type of data would normally come from a query or array.

Array Rows

Query Rows

Does that help, can help more if I know where the data is coming from.

Subject: Row total columns

Hi there

I have a program which produces output as follows:

  *Projects*
   Project 1 - revenue:
   Project 2 - revenue:

 Project 3 - revenue:

 Total Revenues:   Jul
2006 *month*  *$*1,500.00 *BBB*
  *$*0.00 *BBB*
   *$*0.00 *BBB*
   *$1,500.00*

Its calculating the column totals correctly, (only shown July but it shows
Jul-June) - with a Total column at the end - but I am struggling a little on
the best approach so as to calculate the row totals.

I am thinking of creating an array, and then each time I get a new column I
add the value in question to the array (I know that there will always be 12
columns). I'm stumped though on determining the number of rows - there
could be 3 or there could be 23.

How would you recommend handling this. Is it as simple as just setting up
an array or would you suggest a better approach?

Thanks in advance.

2007-10-17 Thread Toby King

Basically what has been done previously by someone is that they created a table
for the name of the projects on the left and then a new table for each month
that is outputted. The number of rows to be produced for a month is determined
by the number of projects underway. This table is looped obver so as to
produce the correct number of rows. I think an array(s) is one approach to take
but am struggling with this one a little - look forward to suggestions.

How would you recommend handling this. Is it as simple as just setting up an
array or would you suggest a better approach?

Thanks in advance.
