Verity Search indexing problem - reading not processing
Hello, I'm working through getting Verity up and running and I've hit a snag. Verity is going through the files fine but it's not pulling the page title attribute. The reason for this is the page title and some other values are stored in a database, then pulled with the page name when read on the site. Because Verity just reads the pages and doesn't process them, I can't populate the title value. So my question is, is there a way to have Verity index my site AND process the pages? As in read the pages through the http:// path instead of c:\inetput\wwwroot\? Any tips are appreciated. We're using CF 7.02 with Apache/Unix. Re: (ot) FireFox - JS Problem
It's not possible as far as I can tell. I did a bunch of research on this yesterday. FF2 implemented a setting to disallow scripts to close windows. Go to about:config and search for dom.allow_scripts_to_close_windows and you'll see it's set to false by default. Since you can't use javascript to change that, I don't think it's possible. If you find a way, I'd LOVE to hear about it because I use this kind of thing frequently. RE: CF restart daily
That might very well be your culprit. My wife's computer will occasionally reboot at about 3 am if Windows decides to install an update. It's quite startling to get woke out bed in the middle of the night by the sound of your computer restarting across the room. If this is the problem, it sounds like we have two questions: 1) Why is Hotfix Rollup 1 being installed over and over again every night? (Did I understand that correctly?) 2) How do you turn off the automatic restart after updates are installed. I can't help with the first question, but this might help with the second: http://www.coderetard.com/2008/12/10/how-to-disable-automatic-restart-after-windows-update/ ~Brad Original Message Subject: Re: CF restart daily From: Michael Dinowitz mdino...@houseoffusion.com Date: Tue, March 10, 2009 12:20 pm To: cf-talk cf-talk@houseoffusion.com It looks like it was the whole machine and at the time A message is given that the Windows 2000 Hotfix Rollup 1 was installed. Jake, You're right about Firefox. I'll never get it to close the popup, so I found another method. I'm not sure what your application is, but for me I was able to user show/hide DIV layers to achieve a similar result. You may want to think about changing the approach to something similar. Unless it is a specific requirement to access both the parent window and the popup content at the same time, then I would suggest not doing a popup at all, but use a modal JavaScript dialog (similar to that cfwindow creates) instead for your 'popup' content. RE: CF 7.02 hangs
1) Buy SeeFusion (it's well worth it) 2) Install it 3) Set it to log long running requests 4) Wait for your server to bog down and and take a look at what is running (requests, database calls, and stack traces) 5) Identify and fix bottlenecks 6) Repeat steps 4 and 5 until performance is satisfactory. That's my opinion anyway. :) Increasing the number of active threads in use *probably* won't help the problem. It'll just give the server more rope to hang itself. ~Brad Original Message Subject: CF 7.02 hangs From: Manish Mahajan manishm...@yahoo.co.in Date: Tue, March 10, 2009 4:31 pm To: cf-talk cf-talk@houseoffusion.com using CF MX 7.0 server gets hang every day and i can see below error message in event log java.lang.RuntimeException: Request timed out waiting for an available thread to run. (ot) SQL Server disk configuration
Dear list, We had an engagement with the SeeFusion folks a few months ago (6?) in which they made some recommendations to us regarding a new SQL Server box. I'm not sure if our hosting company did what they recommended (I was not involved in that part of the engagement) but here's what we've got now. The server has 4x146gb scsi drives set up in 2 RAID-1 mirrored sets. We ended up with a 20 gig C drive and a 120gb D: drive on one mirrored set, and 70 gig E: and F: drives on the other mirrored set. Currently we've got our SQL Server data files on the D: drive, the transaction logs on the E: drive, and the backups on the F: drive. The database is relatively small (7gb) but used pretty heavily.. I have the ability to add four more drives to the machine... I'm thinking of adding 4x73gb (15k rpm) in a RAID5 set with two partitions on it.. one maybe 50gb for the sql data files, and the rest for storing backups... then I will truly have my OS, data, and transaction logs all on separate drive sets. Seem reasonable? Re: CF 8 developer/IPSec/VSClient Problem
I think dave was asking exactly what you are looking for, he was asking if you turn off all the CF 8 related services if it was working. A very good question but not to helpful if you don't know what to turn off ;) . Things that may conflict would be cf8 service itself (doubtful but who knows) the .Net Service (maybe ColdFusionDotNetService or something like that) that CF 8 now has (most likely culprit) and a verity service (probably not but it has been updated since MX so possible). I don't have cf8 installed this way on a windows box anywhere so I can not provide the exact service names but pretty sure they all have ColdFusion in the name or some sort of identifier as being related to CF8.
