You'd be best talking to your local Adobe rep about this.

Something on this page will probably give details for that:

If Adobe can't provide you with a price you're happy with, you might want to
consider Railo (http://www.gerailo.com) and OpenBD

I had this issue while installing CF9 64-bit on Win 7 64-bit. For me the

Although I am guessing there is an easier solution out there.

I thought this has something to do with one of the IIS options but can't

The problem was also (as very often) that the error message was

RE: java assistance

2010-02-15 Thread Eric Roberts

James

I tried that and I am just fighting against my inexperience with Java
outside of CF and in doing it with Eclipse. I have touched pure Java in
about 11 or 12 years and we didn't have eclipse back then. A friend of mine
suggested that I just call the servlet within a cf page as Java in CF...but
that didn't work either...or I am doing something wrong. This is getting a
bit frustrating. This shouldn't be this difficult.

Eric

PS...you seem to know ajax pretty well...we are using Help Bubble and want
to put a google map to show the location. We have the GPS coordinates in
the DB, so I am just passing that to the page that generates the map. If I
call that page, the map comes up fine, but when I call it in the help
bubble, I get all the textual output, but no map. Here's the code that
calls the bubble...maps_test2.cfm is the page that contains the code that
calls the map:

lia href=## id=map2 onclick=return false;850 Stephenson Highway,
Troy MI/a/li
script
new HelpBalloon(
{
title: 'Job Location Map',
dataURL: 'maps_test2.cfm?latlng=42.5429670,
-83.1201470',
icon: $('map2')

});
/script
The page has a link with the coordinates that brings up a page with google
maps so they can enter their address to get directions...that comes up fine.
Just no map. Both the map and the link are surrounded in divs. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Possible switch to CFEclipse

2010-02-15 Thread Adrocknaphobia

We are working to find an alternative way to license ColdFusion to hosting
companies that is more cost effective for the smaller shops.

However, it's a common misconception that the price of ColdFusion is
proportionate to the cost of hosting. Hosting companies don't pay anywhere
near list price. For one specific host we discounted the cost of ColdFusion
8 by over $1M in good faith, and asked the hosting company not to charge
more for CF than they do for ASP/PHP. In the end, the hosting company
decided not to alter it's prices because the CF community is willing to pay
the premium. Can't say I really blame them, after all ColdFusion is a
premium server/language compared to the the competition.

This is my personal opinion, so please take it with a grain of salt, but I
don't believe the shared hosting model will be around much longer. The costs
of virtual private machines has been steadily dropping and cloud vendors
like Amazon and Microsoft are driving costs down. Today Amazon offers a
Linux AMI for as little as $40/month. Rather than spend engineering
resources on a proprietary user/domain model that hosting companies would
likely ignore, I'd rather remain focused on innovating ColdFusion
development and try to bring a lost-cost version of CF to market that makes
virtual machine hosting cheaper than shared hosting. Do you really want to
spend another decade sharing a directory?

If you are willing to take the risk to move to one of the clone engines, you
should check out OpenBD on the Google App Engine. Free is hard to beat. ;-)

Hello Everybody.

I have been thinking and working on this for three days now. I'm looking for
some help totaling two fields from two tables.

Here is what I have:

Sample Tables:

Table - fdd_directory

fdd_name (Example: ACME Fire Dept)
fdd_state (Example: PA)
fdd_zip (Example: 12345)

Table - states

statecodeID (Example: 111)
abrev (Example: PA)
statename (Example: Pennsylvania)

Table - articles

zipcode (Example: 12345)

!---Here is what I have:---

cfquery name=states datasource=#dsn#
SELECT count(fddirectory.fdd_id) AS FDCount, states.statename,
states.abrev, states.statecodeID
FROMfddirectory, states
WHERE fddirectory.fdd_state = states.abrev
GROUP BY statename
ORDER BY statename
/cfquery

cfoutput query=states
a href=next.cfm?statecodeID=#abrev##states.statename#
(#NumberFormat(fdcount)#)/abr /
/cfoutput

So far, so good...

Next.cfm

cfquery name=Story datasource=#dsn#
SELECT fddirectory.fdd_id, fddirectory.fdd_name, fddirectory.fdd_zip,
fddirectory.fdd_state, states.abrev
FROMfddirectory, states
WHERE fddirectory.fdd_state = cfqueryparam value=#statecodeID#
cfsqltype=CF_SQL_VARCHAR
AND fddirectory.fdd_state = states.abrev
ORDER BY fddirectory.fdd_name
/cfquery

!---Here is where I would like to total articles.zipcode =
fddirectory.fdd_zip---

cfoutput query=Story
a href=next1.cfm?fdd_id=#story.fdd_id##story.fdd_name#/a (Total Here)br
/cfoutput

Total Here should equal articles.zipcode = fddirectory.fdd_zip or the number
of article(s) from the articles table that match each fdd_name.

For Example:

ACME FD (Total 38)

Thanks,

Barry

Re: Total Two Field From Two Tables

2010-02-15 Thread Barney Boisvert

Just add:

(select count(*) from articles where zipcode = fddirectory.fdd_zip) as
articleCount

to the end of your SELECT clause:

SELECT fddirectory.fdd_id, fddirectory.fdd_name, fddirectory.fdd_zip,
fddirectory.fdd_state, states.abrev
, (select count(*) from articles where zipcode = fddirectory.fdd_zip)
as articleCount
FROMfddirectory, states
WHERE fddirectory.fdd_state = cfqueryparam value=#statecodeID#
cfsqltype=CF_SQL_VARCHAR
   AND fddirectory.fdd_state = states.abrev
ORDER BY fddirectory.fdd_name

That should do it for you,

 fddirectory.fdd_zip---

 cfoutput query=Story
 a href=next1.cfm?fdd_id=#story.fdd_id##story.fdd_name#/a (Total

Total Here should equal articles.zipcode = fddirectory.fdd_zip or the
number of article(s) from the articles table that match each fdd_name.

 For Example:

 ACME FD (Total 38)

Phantom Scheduled Tasks

2010-02-15 Thread Bryan S

I have a scheduled task that starts a report every 12 minutes. Sometimes a
report is started 5 minutes after the scheduled report starts. There is no
evidence anywhere of the scheduled task being fired. There is no manual
process starting the report.

I have discovered long ago that modifying a scheduled task while it is
running creates a phantom hidden task that can only be exorcised by
rebooting the server.

To allow reconfiguration of the task without worrying about this problem I
wrote a process that can be configured. The scheduled task calls the process
and acts according to its configuration.

The scheduled task in question is set to fire a report process every twelve
minutes. The process of the report can be followed in an application log.
The desired report starts and is logged. At seemingly random times a report
starts five minutes later. It is always five minutes never four or six etc.

Again, there is no manual process starting this. There is no evidence of the
scheduled task firing. There is no loop in the application that could start
multiple reports with one url firing.

What could be starting the report.

CF Server Outages/ Stops Responding

We thought that problems will be resolved but it didn't.

We are having same outage issues. We don't know what happens (CF hangs, Jrun

anyone have any pointers.

We have the following environment now.

Re: CF Server Outages/ Stops Responding

2010-02-15 Thread Alan Rother

Off the top of my head, there are THOUSANDS of possibilities in what could
be wrong here:

   - Your database could be overwhelmed by too much traffic. Have you
   tracked it's current load?
   - You database design could be horribly flawed. Have you had a a DBA
check your design and index structure?
   - What about hardware? Did you get new servers or are you using the same
   ones?
  - Does the database live on the same box as the web server?
  - How powerful is the hardware?
  - Do you have enough RAM?
   - How much traffic is your site taking on? Hundreds of visitors a day,
   thousands, millions?
   - You could be suffering from major architectural flaws in you
application which is causing memory leaks.
   - Are you using a framework? Which one?

Diagnosing the possible problems is nearly impossible here on the list given
what little we know about your application.

The first step in working out your problems will be to get some sort of
analytics tools up and running on the application. Seefusion(
http://www.seefusion.com/) or FusionReactor(http://www.fusion-reactor.com/)
are both extremely helpful in determining possible problem areas in the app.

Beyond that, there are 3rd party companies that do nothing but help people
with this issue.Mike Brunt is one of the best at debugging ColdFusion Apps (
http://www.cfwhisperer.com/) No idea what he's fees($$) are, but I'm
certain he's worth it, the man is brilliant.

If you could at least post some info on your hardware setup we can at least
give some advice on whether or not that could be the culprit and what you
can do about those issues.

Re: Total Two Field From Two Tables

2010-02-15 Thread Barry Mcconaghey

I think I'm getting closer. This code below works but I don't know how to total
each fdd_name.

For Example:

ACME FD1 (38)
ACME FD2 (30)
ACME FD3 (20)

cfquery name=Zip datasource=#dsn#
SELECT a.zipcode, f.fdd_zip, f.fdd_name, a.IsPublished, a.IsActive, f.fdd_state
FROM articles a, fddirectory f
WHERE a.zipcode = f.fdd_zip
AND f.fdd_state = cfqueryparam cfsqltype=cf_sql_varchar value=MD
GROUP BY f.fdd_name
/cfquery

cfoutput query=Zip
#fdd_name# (Add Total Here)br
/cfoutput

Thanks,

Barry

You just need a JOIN and GROUP BY clause. Check out the
subquery-to-join docs on MySQL's site. They have examples of how to do
exactly what you want.

Re: cfwindow looks different in cf9

2010-02-15 Thread Kevin Pepperman

  some css overwrites?

CF has darn near every HTML tag listed in there and zeroed
 out.

Since cfwindow uses a type of reset css all the main tags padding,
margins, padding, borders etc have been reset to 0, and the
default inheritance tree from the browsers defaults have been reset to 0 and
none etc...

This is to maintain the same look cross platform, but it also poses issues
of its own when trying to use what you are used to.

I'd like to find a way to restate that the cfwindow code (on the page I
invoke in the window) should use my main CSS style sheet in its entirety

You best bet is to open up the page in Firebug and determine what classes
you need to modify and re-define those before the display of the cfwindow.

If you redefine any of the classes or defaults inline before your cfwindow
call, the cfwindow will use those classes instead of the default.

f you need it to use your main site css, you may need to dig around and look
for the css that the cfwindow uses by default, then modify that direct, but
I would try the former approach first.

The reset css approach is becoming a standard way of setting up the base
to apply css rules to, it does help the cross platform issues quite a bit,
it is not magic, but it is a good way to deal with those padding/border
issues.

Hope that helps.

PCI Compliance Help

2010-02-15 Thread Deanna Schwint

We just had a PCI Compliance scan done through SecurityMetrics and have one
issue:

Synopsis: The remote web server generates predictable session IDs
Description: The remote web server generates a session ID for each
connection. A session ID is typically used to keep track of the actions of a
user while he visits a web site. The remote server generates non-random
session IDs. An attacker might use this flaw to guess the session IDs of
other users and therefore steal their session.

We are using the UUID for CF Token that is set in the ColdFusion administrator
and are also setting :

SetClientCookies = No
CLIENTMANAGEMENT = No

in the cfapplication tag. We are hesitate to use J2EE session management as it
might have a negative effect on other sites on our server.

If anyone has any advice or experience with this same situation, your help is
greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

RE: Total Two Field From Two Tables

2010-02-15 Thread Dave Phillips

Barry,
Try this:
cfquery name=Zip datasource=#dsn#
SELECT a.zipcode, f.fdd_zip, f.fdd_name, a.IsPublished, a.IsActive,
f.fdd_state, count(distinct a.zipcode) as zip_count
FROM articles a, fddirectory f
WHERE a.zipcode = f.fdd_zip
AND f.fdd_state = cfqueryparam cfsqltype=cf_sql_varchar
value=MD
GROUP BY a.zipcode, f.fdd_zip, f.fdd_name, a.IsPublished, a.IsActive,
f.fdd_state
ORDER BY (whatever order you want them)
/cfquery

Let me know if this works or not for you. Not sure if it will work right in
mySQL or not. If not, try this then:

cfquery name=Zip datasource=#dsn#
SELECT a.zipcode, f.fdd_zip, f.fdd_name, a.IsPublished, a.IsActive,
f.fdd_state
FROM articles a, fddirectory f
WHERE a.zipcode = f.fdd_zip
AND f.fdd_state = cfqueryparam cfsqltype=cf_sql_varchar
value=MD
ORDER BY (whatever order you want them)
/cfquery

cfquery dbtype=query name= qZipTotals
Select zipcode,count(*) as zip_count
From Zip
Group by zipcode
Order by zipcode
/cfquery

... now inside your loop, do this:

cfloop query=Zip
cfquery dbtype=query name=qGetThisZipCount
Select zip_count from qZipTotals
Where zipcode = cfqueryparam value=#Zip.zipcode#
cfsqltype=cf_sql_varchar
/cfquery
cfoutput#fdd_name# (#qGetThisZipCount.zip_count#)br/cfoutput
/cfloop

This is using query of queries so you don't have to hit the database twice.
There are a number of ways to accomplish this.

Hi Dave.

Thanks for the code!

Those two did not work.

I got two queries to work perfect but I don't know how to display them.

!---Get all data---
cfquery name=Story datasource=#request.dsn#
SELECT F.fdd_id, F.fdd_name, F.fdd_zip, S.statename, S.abrev
FROMfddirectory F, states S
WHERE F.fdd_state = cfqueryparam value=MD cfsqltype=CF_SQL_VARCHAR
AND F.fdd_state = S.abrev
ORDER BY fdd_name

!---Count each fdd_name---
cfquery name=Zip datasource=#request.dsn#
SELECT a.zipcode, f.fdd_zip, f.fdd_name, f.fdd_state, count(f.fdd_id) AS FDCount
FROM articles a, fddirectory f
WHERE a.zipcode = LEFT(f.fdd_zip, 5)
AND f.fdd_state = cfqueryparam cfsqltype=cf_sql_varchar value=MD
GROUP BY f.fdd_name
ORDER BY f.fdd_name ASC
/cfquery

!---Display---
cfoutput query=zip
#fdd_name#
(#NumberFormat(zip.fdcount)#

/cfoutput

This works great but it only displays fdd_name when a.zipcode = LEFT(f.fdd_zip,
5).

I would like to display something like this:

cfoutput
!---Display all fdd_name---
#story.fdd_name#
!---Display this if GT '0'---
(#NumberFormat(zip.fdcount)#
br
/cfoutput

Thanks for your time.

Re: PCI Compliance Help

2010-02-15 Thread Brad Wood

PCI reports that I've seen show the cookie in question that they think you
are using to identify your sessions.

The fact of the matter is how can the scanning company know what cookie
values you are using to track sessions unless they can see your code. They
can't unless they can successfully demonstrate a session highjacking with
your server. That means they are guessing. That whole bit kind of irks me.
I recently had a PCI scan that claimed I had the same problem. The thing
was, the cookies their little automated scanner picked up had absolutely
nothing to do with our session tracking and was a random cookie used only to
help the load balancer keep server affinity. I was rather annoyed with that
prognosis seeing as how any competent programmer worth his salt could look
at my response headers and see the jsessionid in there, but a professional
PCI compliance scanning company was charging us 600 dollars so their silly
automatic scanner could pick up random cookies and assume they had anything
at all to do with session tracking. Don't ask me how I really feel. :)

So, what do you do?

Well, firstly check the report again to see what cookies they think are you
session ids. If you are using CFIDs, it probably picked that up because
they are too dumb to read Adobe's technotes that clearly state CFID is NEVER
used without CFTOKEN (which is random) to identify a session.
If you passed your scan, I wouldn't worry about it-- all you need is a
passing grade.
If you failed your scan and need to fix it, change to jssessionid and stop
using CFID and CFTOKEN.
If the cookie they are complaining about turns out NOT to be CFID, then
consider refactoring so it is not in use or has a non-sequential value.
Lastly, you can submit a rebuttal to them that basically says You don't
know what you're talking about and here's why, and they might not make it
count against you.

Re: Broken images in CFADMIN

2010-02-15 Thread Brad Wood

In my experience this happens when your CFIDE folder is not web-accessable,
but you have a mapping for CFIDE in ColdFusion. The .cfm pages are
resolving becuase CF is using the mapping it has, but when IIS is asked for
an image (which doesn't involve CF), the path is non-existant.

You need to confirm that the CFIDE/administrator directory is actually in
the web root of the IIS site you are accessing.

Re: CF Server Outages/ Stops Responding

2010-02-15 Thread Brad Wood

We are having same outage issues. We don't know what happens (CF hangs,
Jrun freezes etc.) in background but CF
 just stops processing requests.

1) Buy SeeFusion for all you servers.
2) Configure database logging and active monitoring alerts
3) Analyze your traffic, memory, slow pages, slow queries, and stack traces
4) Re-factor as needed and go back to step 3 as long as problems persist.

If all that sounds too complicated, it's a not really as bad as you think.
If you don't have time, call WebApper and pay them to help you. They make
SeeFusion, and Mike Brunt works for them so you can't go wrong. :)

Hi Dave.

I fixed the last error message. There was a space here:

name= qZipTotals

Now the data is displaying but it is not correct.

This code below (ZIP)is correct:
!---Count each fdd_name---
cfquery name=Zip datasource=#request.dsn#
SELECT a.zipcode, f.fdd_zip, f.fdd_name, f.fdd_state, count(f.fdd_id) AS
FDCount
FROM articles a, fddirectory f
WHERE a.zipcode = LEFT(f.fdd_zip, 5)
AND f.fdd_state = cfqueryparam cfsqltype=cf_sql_varchar
value=MD
GROUP BY f.fdd_name
ORDER BY f.fdd_name ASC
/cfquery

!---Display---
cfoutput query=zip
#fdd_name#
(#NumberFormat(zip.fdcount)#
br
/cfoutput

This works great but it only displays fdd_name when a.zipcode =
LEFT(f.fdd_zip, 5).

I would like to display something like this:

cfoutput
!---Display all fdd_name---
#story.fdd_name#
!---Display this if GT '0'---
(#NumberFormat(zip.fdcount)#

/cfoutput

Thanks for your time.
