Re: Problem with Apache 2.2 not starting on windows -- CF9.01

2011-07-06 Thread Matthew Williams

I HATE the fact that 9.0 works (and has the check) for 32bit
applications, but 9.01 borks that all to hell. I ran into this (several
times), and the only means I had that corrected it is to completely wipe
CF and start fresh. From there, be sure to run the JRun config BEFORE
you put on the 9.01 update... else, you see the error that you hit.

jvm.config, I am ok with that, i need to work out why my webroot path is now
the path to the server, and not to the webroot.

RE: code sharing in IIS

2011-07-06 Thread Andrew Scott

Yep remove the virtual directory, when you do it this way the virtual
directory will be using the application.cfc up from where it is first
located. And that is defined by your virtual directory.

Problem with Apache 2.2 not starting on windows -- CF9.01

2011-07-06 Thread Gerald Guido

Yesterday, out of the blue Apache stopped working on my desktop/Dev server:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit - fully patched
CF 9.01 64 bit developer with all patches
XAMPP 7.1 With Apache 2.2.11

I looked at the system logs and I go this error.

Apache.exe: Syntax error on line 1054 of
C:/UniServer_7_1_1/usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load
C:/ColdFusion9/runtime/lib/wsconfig/2/mod_jrun22.so into server: %1 is not a
valid Win32 application.

I was upgrading XAMPP 7.1 to a more recent version due to MediaWiki not
liking the version of PHP I was running. I went to restart the Apache
service and it failed with the above error. I then proceeded to try and get
it to work on several other several versions of XAMPP 7.x and Uniform
server (that all worked before) and all of them gave me the same error.

Technically CF 64 bit version does not work with Apache 2.2 32 bit but I
have been running this set up for months and have the same setup (more or
less) on 2 other machines and they all work fine. As did this machine did
until yesterday. Google did not give up anything that addressed this other
than don't use the 64 bit version of CF or use a 64 bit version of Apache.

What is really weird is that my laptop is running the exact same rig with
out a hitch. I even copied the Uniform server set up from my laptop and put
it on this machine, ran the Web server Configuration tool, and got the same
error.

Anyone run into this or know a work around? I really don't want to reinstall
everything.

As always, many TIA.

G!

IIS 6.0 ignores default document and serves index.cfm

2011-07-06 Thread Brook Davies

This is a problem I have ran into before. Last time, I re-installed IIS and
it did resolve it, but I don't want to do that again.

The problem is that IIS 6.0 is ignoring the default document (index.html)
and instead trying to load index.cfm and I am getting a CF error that the
template can not be found. I know that the index.cfm value is coming from
the welcomelist parameter of the web.xml file. But I am setting the default
document within IE and no matter what variation I try, it will not load the
default document I specify and instead CF grabs the request and tries to
load index.cfm.

Does this point to a wildcard mapping or something that is causing CF to
intercept the request before IIS has a chance to chime in about its default
doc? Anyone seen this before?

Really? You can do that on Enterprise? Is there another product (fusion
Reactor?) that can show you memory usage by scope? That would be very
useful to me...

500mb actually goes a long way, most of our customers run on the default
settings with no problems. If you are doing a ton of caching or have A LOT
of class files being compiled to memory than it will shoot up pretty
quickly.
You can use the CF built in server monitor to determine where memory is
being used, app scope, sessions, cached queries etc, which may help you
determine if the memory usage is expected or not. But if you have 8GB
available then no probs giving 1GB to each instance.

Isolating sites with their own instance is always good, especially if you
have the resources to do it. We have a setup called "semi-dedicated" where
we have a limited number of sites per instance, and it very rarely causes us
any problems this way.

Brian,

What's your underlying app server? If its JBoss or Tomcat deploying a WAR or an

RE: code sharing in IIS

2011-07-06 Thread Chad Gray

Thanks for everyone's feedback.

I have a question now that I am experimenting with it.

I have two web sites that have these files in them:

C:\wwwroot\site1\Application.cfc
C:\wwwroot\site1\foo\index.cfm

C:\wwwroot\site2\Application.cfc
C:\wwwroot\site2\foo -->(virtual directory to C:\wwwroot\site1\foo)

When I load
http://site2/foo/index.cfm

The application.cfc fromSite1 is being used, not the application.cfc from
site2...

Any way to get the site2 application.cfc to be used instead of site1?

Thanks,
Chad

Can anyone help me find out why, or set it back to the webroot it should be?

For the moment I have hardcoded it, but this is not sustainable.

Thanks

I was able to get the following code to run sucessfully. I took the database

Re: AJAXCFC/jQuery/JSON and percent signs

2011-07-06 Thread Bryan Stevenson

and a little more digging makes me think the issue lies in the
JSON.CFC (specifically the "decode" function) that comes with AJAXCFC.

That is full of RegEx which is not my forte

I'm hoping someonie else has dealt with this and perhaps there is an
updated fixed version of that "decode" function out there somewhere.

It takes a JSON string and breaks it up into arguments for CF to
consume.

TIA

Re: AJAXCFC/jQuery/JSON and percent signs

2011-07-06 Thread Bryan Stevenson

Scratch that!

The value to be inserted is showing up at the method in my CFC that does
the INSERT missing the "h".

It is being serialized fine and FireBug confirms that.

So it would appear that it may be the decoding of the JSON string that
is the issueand I have no idea how to fix or deal with that.

Thoughts?

We use a product called Repliweb. It's very fast, and can be used for
scheduled file pushes or continuous replication. It will also replicate IIS
settings, if you want it to. Its reasonably priced. I think we paid around 4k
for 4 nodes including the center source node. We've been very happy with it.

Re: AJAXCFC/jQuery/JSON and percent signs

Hey Scott,

Well there is no FORM scope, but I thought this issue was in the
fastSerialize() function that is called to serialize the form data.

I saw this issue before via Firebug and the character went missing there
(so I suspected jQuery's fastSerialize).

but your questions prompted me to take another peek and sure enough
the JSON is 100% finethe issue lies when I insert to the SQL Server
DB.

So I'll go sort that out as this no longer appears to be a mysterious
JSON issue ;-)

Thanks!

A few thoughts I have while reading this thread

If you have any processes that seem to take a huge amount of memory,
it might be worthwhile to look at isolating those to their own
dedicated instance. Reporting, for example, often uses alot of memory
and is a great candidate to have it's own instance. If it falls over
it still is annoying but at least it's not taking everything else with
it.

If your application will allow it, consider adding a cache layer in
front of the webserver. This will particularly come in handy if a
site "goes viral". Look at http://www.squid-cache.org/ for 15 minutes
or so to get more info. If your biggest problem is unanticipated
traffic spikes, this is likely to be the "best bang for your buck"
kinda solution.

AJAXCFC/jQuery/JSON and percent signs

2011-07-06 Thread Bryan Stevenson

Hi All,

Using AJAXCFC for AJAXwhich of course uses jQuery.

When submitting a form I use the fastSerialize() function from jQuery to
serialize the form data in JSON format.

Well things go sideways when a "%" is part of the data in the form. The
data makes it tot he server, but characters get dropped.

For example"Scale tared for 8lb tote and 3% shrinkage" loses the "h"
in "shrinkage".

Obviously percent signs are used in serializing the data.

Any thoughts? I thought JSON was pretty bulletproof

TIA

Cheers

Re: CF8 Enterprise Instance Size

2011-07-06 Thread Russ Michaels

Russ
