Dreamweaver CC - anyone been able to create CF files with it yet?

2014-04-29 Thread Mike K

Has anyone been able to force Dreamweaver CC to create .cfm and .cfc files
yet?

I havent even been able to find out how to add my standard
comments/owner/creator block to the top of all new files. Has anyone
found out how to do that yet?

Yes, I have rebooted once so far. And tomorrow I'll probably get my courage up
to apply those updates that were not in the download. And each time I do
something I will check carefully in case that is what caused the failure.

Thanx for all your help and feedback.

Re: ColdFusion 10 does not allow Access datasource

2014-04-29 Thread John Pullam

At the moment I have the Access datasources working. Here is what solved it for
me:

The underlying issue was that message that said "The ColdFusion ODBC Server
service is not running or has not been installed." I observed the behaviour of
the ODBC server and realized that it was running fine after an install (I redid
the CF10 instrall) but it was the next reboot that caused things to stop
working.

I located an error message in the log that said "ColdFusion 10 ODBC
Server@LOCALHOST,ErrorCode=430,ErrorMessage=Failed to open event trace file
because the file version is not recognised." And when I googled that one I ran
into a similar problem on CF9 where the person reporting it said "I have solved
this problem by deleting all of the .trc files in folder
C:\ColdFusion9\db\slserver54\tracing. Once that was done, I was able to
successfully start the ODBC Server & ODBC Agent services."

After deleting the .trc files from
C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\db\slserver54\tracing I was able to start the services
manually. I then rebooted and it worked. I am not sure that this is a long term
fix but it is working. I notice that the 2 .trc files are back in that folder
and hope thay are correct now.

And of course I had to also use that workaround mentioned here;

Re: CFB3

2014-04-29 Thread Carl Von Stetten

John,

I'm not going to use those top 3 new features either. But the
performance is definitely vastly improved over CFB2 because they
scrapped Apatana and rewrote the entire code insight/formatting parts
for HTML/JS/CS/CFML. And there's now a 64-bit Windows installer, so no
more having to do the Eclipse + CFBuilder plugin thing. They also
incorporated Eclipse 4.3.1 (Kepler SR1) instead of the old Eclipse 3.7.2
(Indigo SR2).

The tone of the announcement blog entry pretty much sums it up... the
new features don't excite me. They list mobile development, language
enhancements, new PDF engine, and security enhancements as the big new
features. The mobile integration is arguably the "big" feature for
this release. I suppose that will be useful for some people.

The big tell, though, is the specific mention of Java 7 Update 55.
They mention it's a big important release for Java 7, but it's not
included in the initial installers because they're working out some
installer integration bug (presumably with Oracle), so Update 51 is
included for now and they'll update the installers later. Likewise,
"The Linux support for the new PDF engine in ColdFusion 11 will be
available through an update within the next few weeks."

By word count, they actually spend more time talking about what isn't
actually in the release yet (Java Update 55 and The Linux PDF update)
and that the CF10 / CFB2 installers will only be available for another
couple of weeks.

It feels like the ColdFusion team just flat ran out of time; that not
everything was ready but they had a hard deadline and had to ship
regardless. I'm glad Adobe is continuing to support the product, but
I've never felt so "meh" about a release (and I've been using CF since
version 4).

Ok, I could sort of understand that, however ColdFusion is an existing product
why would you remove it from the See All Products link? You can bet they
wouldn't do that for a new version of Creative Cloud!

And yet it isn't visible on the main adobe page. As a matter of fact if you go
to products it isn't listed there. Even when you click see all products.

You see an ad for Adobe Marketing Cloud... Maybe they should use that to let
everyone know the product still exists. The website certainly doesn't do it.
