Re: Linux CF Editor

2003-02-13 Thread Alexis Maldonado
I use Jedit and Dreamweaver MX/Flash MX with wine.
Code/Design view in DWMX works.
Codeweavers wine is supposedly planning on doing some work on
Dreamweaver MX so that it works better on their next release.

RE: CFMX + Red Hat 7.3 + Apache 2.0.39 displays source..

2002-07-25 Thread Alexis Maldonado

Hmn.. weird..
for some reason i've always had problems installing CF on Red Hat..!!
I just tried installing CFMX on Mandrake 8.2 and it worked flawlessly..

I don't know why it never works right with Red Hat.. bad luck i guess..
but its strange when MM tests everything with Red Hat and its the one
that gives the most problems installing CF on..

I'll keep trying to get CFMX to work on Red Hat 7.3..

CFMX ODBC problems..

2002-07-18 Thread Alexis Maldonado

ok here is my problem..

I had an application that worked perfectly on CF 5.0 using the Minisoft
ODBC driver for Image/sql on an HP3000 with mpe/ix 6.0.

When i moved that application over to the CFMX server and set up the
ODBC socket dsn i get a weird error when trying to execute any simple
query. I also found out that if i put a syntax error on the query the
ODBC driver will let me know of the incorrect syntax... so the queries
seem to be going through but when it gets back with the results the
SequeLink JDBC Driver seems to hang.

am i doing something wrong? or is the ODBC socket function on CFMX
buggy? Bellow is the exact error i get..

problems with files on unix and CFPOP

2001-12-06 Thread Alexis Maldonado

ok.. im using CFPOP to get email right..

when the attachments are received the permissions are only set
to read/write for user and group [nobody]
wich is what the CF server user & group is..

so everytime in when i do a link to the file for download
it gives me an..

  Error Diagnostic Information
An error occurred while attempting to open the file.

Unix error number 13 occurred: Permission denied

because im still missing read/execute for [others]

now how can i get CF to write the files with all the necesary
permissions
so that i can make the file download work?

Re: problems with backslash and quotes..

2001-12-03 Thread Alexis Maldonado

actually the single quotes for the SQL are not in my variable..
lets say my variable is..

 // escape the ( \ )

when i do

INSERT INTO foo (field) values('#foo#' < it will look like ( 'this is a
test ''\\'' text' )

and that is when i get the error message...

now if my text has just a single \ it wont say anything but its the
combination of '\' that screws it up..
ill try that #preserveSingleQuotes(foo)# to see if it does something :)

problems with backslash and quotes..

2001-12-03 Thread Alexis Maldonado

I created an app using Access and Mssql7.

it works perfect on it but i need to get it to run on Postgresql and Mysql.

The problem im having is that everytime i try to run an insert from a text
field or file into the database
and the text field contains a backslash it fails..
i have tried doing:
replacenocase(string,"\","\\","ALL");
and it seems to work fine until i run into a text that has '\'
(quote-backslash-quote)
then my query fails.. it looks something like this..

Inser into table (column) values('''\''')

it gives me a parse error..

is there a simple way of fixing this? a tag maybe?

problems with inserts in SQL..

I am currently trying to insert a text field into a postgresql database.
the problem is that everytime i use '\' anywhere in the text fieldor \ at
the end of the text it gives
me a parse error.

i've tried using all tipes of replace.. they dont seem to be working right..
is there an easy way of fixing this?

same thing also happens if i try to insert a message into the
database and it contains '\'

Re: Studio alternative for Linux?

2001-11-28 Thread Alexis Maldonado

G I use Linux and VMWARE to run all my windows apps on it..
linux is 10x more stable and reliable than windows for development
 actually for pretty much anything).
at least that's my experience. even windows runs better on it.. I don't know
why though..

as for linux development.. Kdevelop and Quanta are awesome editors..
for cold fusion studio I sometimes use Jedit but then again I have VM
running so anytime I need CFS I just run it
anyway.. codeweaver wine is getting better soon you will be able to run it
natively from Lnx.

of course I will always boot winME to play my games :).
although the games I have for linux never hang on me like some do on ME.

and the number of people using Linux is growing.. pretty much all my friends
now
have Linux installed in their PCs and they are not developers ( heh.. they
like to play Q3 and Tribes2 on it 24/7).

Re: How much faster to develop in CF v PHP

2001-11-27 Thread Alexis Maldonado

well.. it all depends..
i think that PHP is way faster in terms of "speed" than CF and its not
that bad to learn.. if you know a little C, PHP will be a breeze..
actually i learned PHP like in a week.. heh.
http://www.phpbuilder.com/ check it out..
also i think that php is great if you are using Unix as your base.. it gives
you
extended capabilities to mess around with the actual system.

BUT.. you cant beat CF when it comes to developing sites in a hurry..
heh.. CF is i think the fastest language to learn and the fastest to
implement
plus since its now a macromedia product we should see some really cool stuff
coming up for it..

Re: Access XP and CF?

2001-11-16 Thread Alexis Maldonado

access XP sux..
same thing it just doesnt let you open files on other networked drives..
they have to be on your local drive.
i would stick to Access and Office 2000.. XP is "buggy" too..
example..
if you open a doc file in word and then save it and try to open it in word
perfect
it wont work..
if you create a doc file and try to open it in word perfect it wont work..
some other random application crashes also makes it suck more..
i see no reall advantage on using any XP product over 2000 products.

Re: Macromedia becoming another Microsoft

2001-10-30 Thread Alexis Maldonado

Capitalism gets bad when they let companies like MS get away with monopoly
just because they are the lead software provider and provides ALOT of income
plus other "UNKNOWN" goverment issues. like uhmm maybe their source code
is s secret because uhmn.. maybe they can put whatever they want in it
like
trackers to track your every move, or even spy on other countries or
industries by puting
in code that they know how to hack and how to build software to hack it and
then
sell it to the goverment.. heheh.. thats not really the bad thing about
capitalism but
the fact that small bussinesses cant keep alive since big companies take
them over
untill they are no more. In the case of MS its do it my way or be bought and
now they are
doing the same thing to customers..

Re: cf and apache

2001-09-24 Thread Alexis Maldonado

im running appache CF and PHP on mandrake..
extremely stable, fast, AND reliable.
plus I can choose to use any FREE and very cool, secure, constantly updated
databases.
plus webmin, telnet, ssh, vnc, netsaint basically cover all of the
administration tools
you would ever need.

Re: Re[2]: Mystery:Code dissappears/changes on Unix Server

This has happened to me a few times..
If i make a change and upload it all seems to work fine for a while and then
it goes back
to the old code. It did that for a while until i stopped uploading over the
code i had
and deleted the specific files first and then re-uploaded them from scratch.
That seemed to fix my problem. i think its an unix ftp thing..

Re: Terrorism

2001-09-11 Thread Alexis Maldonado

Guns would have nothing to do if they where carying a bomb around their
chest & waist..

But i agree they would think about it twice before going into a plane full
of loaded weapons..
the fact is that none of this would of happened with tougher NAZI-type of
airport security.
