Wanted: Links Database Code

2006-07-30 Thread Jake McKee
I'm looking for a ColdFusion custom tag or application (preferably free)
that manages a links database. I need to update a site I created years
back that allows users to submit a link, include some specific meta data
and then have those links displayed in a category structure with all the
rest of the submitted links.

Anyone know of any ColdFusion functionality that does this?

Thanks!

[Fwd: Problem with CFIMPORT]

2006-01-22 Thread Jake McKee
All,

I'm brand new to BlueDragon, but not to CF in general.

I've just set up a local BD test server and uploaded one of my apps to
see how it works. I'm running into some problems with CFIMPORT. The code
that works fine with CFMX:

CFIMPORT taglib='/myroot/modules/' prefix='module'

cfoutput
 module:calendarModule
/cfoutput

But this doesn't work in BD. If I change the CFOUTPUT block above to a
simple include, it works fine.

CFINCLUDE template=calendarModule.cfm

Any idea how to get the CFIMPORT working right?

Thanks!

I've been doing some googling this morning for good example of

Thanks!

ParseURLdata UDF problem

2005-07-13 Thread Jake McKee
Hi there!

I've just had a look at the cool ParseURLdata function on the CFlib.org site.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the function to work, and was hoping
you might be willing to lend a hand.

Basically, I've done a CFINCLUDE to get the UDF file, then do the example code:

cfset paramData = parseURLData(linear,+)

I'm not really sure what the + is for, but I'm not doing anything else
beyond that. I'm getting this error:

Parameter 2 of function Right which is now -22 must be a positive integer

I'm running CFMX 6.1. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Re: coldfusion photo gallery suggestions?

2005-03-03 Thread Jake McKee
I need a coldfusion photo gallery that can have multiple users and
allow the verification of the photos put on the site.

Here is an example of one.
 http://www.stingrayboats.com/MyStingray/ppost/showmembers.php/cat/500/password/

its driven by http://www.photopost.com/ but its not really what we are
 looking for.

We need user sections that allow them to post a few images that we can
make sure are kid friendly. Plus let them post stories of sorts. It
will be for an owners section of our site.

I'm not sure that it does everything you want, but it's certainly a good
start, PhotoBlogFusion:

Access Memo field issues

2005-03-01 Thread Jake McKee
All,

I recently was testing an application that I'm building and noticed that
suddenly one of my queries was truncating one of my #variable# outputs.
I'm using Access while I test, and things have been fine up until now.

On the admin tool, things are saving and displaying correctly, but when
the trying to output it on the user side, it's truncating at or around
255 characters.

Any idea what might be going on or how to resolve it?

Thanks!

Another Trackback question

2004-03-09 Thread Jake McKee
All,

I'm trying to implement Moveable Type's Trackback standard into my blog
application. I'm can get everything working except pinging MT blogs.
>From the MT docs, I need to:

To send a ping, the client sends an HTTP POST request to the TrackBack
Ping URL. The request contents should be of the content type
application/x-www-form-urlencoded. For example, a ping request to the
URL http://www.foo.com/mt-tb.cgi/5 might look like this:

POST http://www.foo.com/mt-tb.cgi/5
Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded
title=Foo+Barurl="">

From:

http://www.movabletype.org/docs/mttrackback.html#sending%20a%20trackback
%20ping

This is the code I'm using:

CFHTTP

METHOD=post

URL="">

THROWONERROR=Yes

CFHTTPPARAM type=FORMFIELD name=title value=test

CFHTTPPARAM type=FORMFIELD name=URL value=test

CFHTTPPARAM type=FORMFIELD name=blog_name value=test

CFHTTPPARAM type=FORMFIELD name=excerpt value=test

/CFHTTP

CFTRY

CFCATCH type=Any

CFOUTPUT#CFHTTP.StatusCode#/CFOUTPUT

Failure!

/CFCATCH

/CFTRY

It's not generating an error, but it's also not pinging the MT blog
correctly.

Any ideas? Help!

Need help with Query

2004-02-07 Thread Jake McKee
OK, I'm trying to write a hefty query and having a bit of trouble.

I'm trying to find the highest rated items (max of 10 and based on an
average of all the times that item was rated). Since many of the top
rated items will have the same rating, and I need to choose the top
10, I further want to base it on traffic to that item.

So said another way:

- Calculate average rating for every distinct item, based on
multiple record entries per item

- Find the highest rated

- If the top 10 items have the same average rating, then take
the traffic each of those items has received and rank based on that

I have two tables that are in question:

Reviews (the ratings table)

- rating

- LinkIDFK2

Traffic (the table that hold traffic data for each item)

- LinkIDFK (same thing as LinkIDFK2 above)

- Hits (traffic number)

Any ideas what this query might look like?

Thanks!

CFHTTP problem, SSL, and PayPal IPN

2004-01-18 Thread Jake McKee
I've been using PayPal's IPN system for automated purchasing for a while
now. It's been working like a champ for a couple of months, and then
suddenly stopped working without change to the code or server config.
After searching high and low, I discovered that PayPal recently changed
their IPN functionality to require 128bit SSL.

Since my CFMX server is still running CFMX 6.0, and an upgrade to 6.1
(which supposedly fixes the CFHTTP problems) is not possible, I'm at a
bit of a loss. (It seems that Able Commerce, which is also running on
this server has a problem of some sort with 6.1 vs. 6.0. And no, I cant'
switch to Able Commerce)

Anyone have any ideas for a possible CFHTTP replacement that DOES do
128bit SSL correctly?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Grouping problem on dates

2004-01-11 Thread Jake McKee
Hi there, I'm trying to create a list of dates like this:

Jan 03 (19 records)

Feb 03 (34 records)

March 04 (2 records)

Right now, I'm using this query:

CFQUERY name=findDates2 datasource=#ATTRIBUTES.datasource#

SELECT DatePart('m', entryDate) as xMonth, count(*) as
xcount

FROM entries

WHERE entryStatus = 1

GROUP BY DatePart('m', entryDate)

/CFQUERY

And it works like a champ. for one year. Of course, the Jan 03 and Jan
04 records will get lumped in the same group.bad.

Any ideas on how to make this work?

Replacing apstrophe from IE copy/paste

2004-01-02 Thread Jake McKee
Help!

I have HTML textarea I use to post info to my blog. If I copy/paste
content from Web pages and the content includes the single quote
apostrophe mark, it shows up in my form field as the square character. I
want to do replace for this character, but I can't seem to find the
ASCII code for it. The normal apostrophe char(39) doesn't work, so I'm
guess that maybe IE is using a special one?

Any ideas?

Create string that is used as variable

2003-12-19 Thread Jake McKee
Please help!

I am trying to create a dynamic cookie name for a custom tag. I want to

Name

CFIF isDefined('#evaluate(nameCookieVar)#')it's definedCFELSEit's

But I get this error:

Variable cookie.myCookieName is undefined.

Any ideas why? Shouldn't the evaluate( ) statement turn nameCookieVar
into cookie.myCookieName so that the ifDefined can properly assess?

What am I doing wrong?

Recursion and Breadcrumbs

2003-11-24 Thread Jake McKee
After searching high and low, I've found quite a few discussions about
using recursion to create breadcrumbs, and other nested categorical
info. It seems to be a pretty common question, and I would expect that
there is a common solution out there, but I can't seem to find one.

I'm trying to display:

Home Cat Sub Cat Sub Sub Cat .. Etc.

My DB table looks like :

Cat IDCatNameParentCatID

---

1 CDs0

2 Good CDs1

3 Bad CDs1

4 U22

5 Nsync3

This would display:

Home CDs Good CDs U2

Anyone have a straightforward code snippet for this?

Thanks!

Problems with date based query

2003-07-17 Thread Jake McKee
I have been banging my head against a wall for a while.

I have a table of records in Access. I need to find all the records that
were entered from 3 days ago to right now. This is the code:

CFSET timing = #DateAdd('D',-3,Now())#

CFQUERY name=findRecent datasource=Categories

SELECT *

FROM Links

WHERE DateAdded =
#DateFormat(timing, m/d/)#

AND approve=1

ORDER BY DateAdded DESC

/cfquery

(DateAdded is a date/time field in access with dates formatted as
7/17/2003)

This only succeeds in bringing back every record in the DB. If I change
the WHERE line to =, rather than =, I don't get any records (even
though there are several that fit this)

What am I overlooking?

Thanks in advance

Jake

Problem with Cookies MX vs. 5

2003-06-13 Thread Jake McKee
Help!

I have an application setup on a CFMX server and everything is fine. It
is a VERY simple app, and one of the pages writes a cookie, then
redirects to another page (was with CFLOCATION, but now changed to JS).

I am trying to move this app to a CF Server 5 machine, and the cookies
won't write. It's really basic code as you can see below, so I'm at a
loss to understand why CF5 is having issues. Any thoughts?

CFIF FORM.username IS test AND FORM.password IS test

CFCOOKIE NAME=loginCookie EXPIRES=NEVER
VALUE=loggedIn

!--- CFLOCATION url=main.cfm ---

SCRIPT language=JavaScript

!-- location.replace(main.cfm); --

/SCRIPT

CFELSE

CFLOCATION URL=index.cfm?denied=yes

/CFIF

Recursion Tutorial?

2003-05-27 Thread Jake McKee
Hi there, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I am
looking for good sources of help/tutorial on recursion. I understand the
basic concept of setting up the database, but I tend to have problems
making it work in real life code.

Can anyone point me to some good examples/tutorials/help of any kind?
(Hopefully focused around CF and CFC, but general DB techniques would be
OK too)

Thanks in advance!
Jake

Killing IE sessions

2002-07-05 Thread Jake McKee

All,

I have an odd problem that I was hoping someone might be able to help me
out with. I have a login application. When a user is logged in, and
closes the window (thus the session) in IE it doesn't kill the session
like it is supposed to.

The odd part of this is that on my 127.0.0.1 dev environment, it works
fine. Or in Netscape on the live site, it works fine. This is only on
the live version, in IE.

I have this code in my application.cfm file:

cfapplication name=loginApp sessionmanagement=Yes
clientmanagement=yes sessiontimeout=#CreateTimeSpan(0,0,45,0)#

CFLOCK timeout=30 name=#session.sessionID#
cfparam name=Session.UserID default=
cfparam name=Session.Password default=
/CFLOCK

cfif IsDefined(Cookie.CFID) AND IsDefined(Cookie.CFTOKEN)

cfset cfid_local = Cookie.CFID

cfset cftoken_local = Cookie.CFTOKEN

cfcookie name=CFID value=#cfid_local#

cfcookie name=CFTOKEN value=#cftoken_local#

/cfif

Help! Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any light you can shed!

Jake

Top Ten Results

2002-04-27 Thread Jake McKee

All,

I have what will hopefully be an easy question.

I have a DB with two columns ID and Qty.

I am trying to figure out how to select the 3 ID (or however many) that
have the largest Qty. For instance if this is my table:

143
26
355
4645
52
678
732
830
945
10 90

then the results would return:

4
10
6

CFLOOP sort order

2002-04-24 Thread Jake McKee

Is there an easy way to spit out the contents of a CFLOOP backwards? So
if my CFLOOP yields this:

Item 1
Item 2
Item 3
Item 4

.. how do I make it spit out this:

Item 4
Item 3
Item 2
Item 1

Thanks!

RE: CFLOOP sort order

2002-04-24 Thread Jake McKee

Well, this is what I have.

It is spitting out the breadcrumbs options perfectly...however, they are
in reverse order of what I need them in.

=

CFIF isDefined('URL.Cat') and URL.cat NEQ 0

BreadCrumbs: A href=tryagain.cfm?Cat=0Main/A
CFQUERY name=findBread datasource=Categories
SELECT *
FROM Categories
WHERE ItemID= #URL.Cat#
/CFQUERY

CFSET countVar=1
CFSET next=#findBread.ParentItemID#

CFIF #findBread.ParentItemID# GT 0

CFLOOP From=#findBread.CategoryLevel# TO=1 step=-1 INDEX=i

CFSET countVar=countVar + 1

CFQUERY name=findBread2 datasource=Categories
maxrows=1
SELECT *
FROM Categories
WHERE ItemID= #next#
/CFQUERY

CFOUTPUT #findBread2.Item# (#next#)/CFOUTPUT

CFSET next=#findBread2.ParentItemID#

/CFLOOP
/CFIF

/CFIF

Any and all help is appreciated

Recursion problem

2002-04-23 Thread Jake McKee

All,

I have been working to create an application to display data via a
infinite series of categories and sub-categories. The look I am going
for is similar to the home page of Yahoo.com:

Category1 Category2
- Sub1 -Sub1 -Sub1 - Sub2 -Sub2 -Sub2

Category3 Category4
- Sub3 -Sub3 -Sub3 - Sub4 -Sub4 -Sub4

Category5 Category6
- Sub5 -Sub5 -Sub5 - Sub6 -Sub6 -Sub6

(There is no actual content displayed on this page, just categories)

When you click any of the items above, you are taken to another page
that actually has the content. It would look like this:

Sub1Sub2
- SubSub1 SubSub1 - SubSub2 SubSub2

data
data
data
data

And so on... until there was only data on the page because no more sub
categories exist.

I have my database Category table set up to include:

CatID (Primary Key)
CatName
ParentID (Refers to CatID that is the owner of this particular CatID)
CategoryLevel (specifics which level of the hierarchy this Cat is)

I have tried several different approaches to writing the code, but none
of them output the stuff. Again, I am trying to set this up to be
infinitely deep so no matter how many categories/sub-categories are
created, this single piece of code will continue to work.

Has anyone else solved this problem and mind sharing the code, or
pointing me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

Jake
