This is interesting. My input forms are totally dynamic as well. I'll

Thanks.

We combine CF and ASP for processing and use Recrystallize as a
productivity
tool. It generates the web pages. We only use the asp processing pages.
The
input forms which need, in our case, to be very dynamic and based on other
systems with varying security are done with CF. Note that we have alot of
reports and is cost effective for us.

  Hi,

i meant the actual tag cfreport.. not crystal report itself..

i found it a bit hard to get it working.. and once i did.. i found it
abit
  lacking in functionality

you can write a module or component yourself that works alot better...

just take the ASP examples that come with the software and covert it to
  CF...

  or

interface CF form with an ASP page that calls the crystal report (*.RPT)
  file..

search the MM CF forums.. for issues ppl have come across...

Yes. You only need to be careful on version. CF 5 - CR 8; CF 4.5 - CR
7;
 CFMX - CR ?

There is some experimental support for CF4.5 and CR 8. There is a hidden
attribute on the cfreport tag. Should be in the knowledge base still.

Re: access db

2002-08-15 Thread Jocelyn Isidro

Here is what my host, www.HostMySite.com, recommends to unlock an Access db.
(I have not tried this).

FAQ: How to Overwrite an Existing Database

I would like to upload an updated version of my access database. When I
attempt to overwrite the existing database I am unable to.

As a normal part of ODBC operation, your database file is locked by the ODBC
connection. There is a trick you can use to unlock the database temporarily.
You can write a page to query a non-existent column in an existing table in
your database. This will temporarily unlock the database so that you can
overwrite the file. Since the file will be re-locked quickly, especially if
other pages are accessing the database, it is best to rename or delete the
old database before uploading the new one. As soon as you upload the new
database and run a good query, normal ODBC operation will resume.

There are a few things you can do to maximize the success of the unlock
page:

1. Make sure that no other pages are executing queries on the database. If a
valid query is run right after your invalid query, the database will be
locked again.

2. Since the database can be re-locked quickly, rename the .mdb file as soon
as you run the invalid query. Then you can upload the new database and not
worry about it locking again before you have a chance.

3. This trick often requires some patience - if it doesn't work at first,
try it again a few times. Also, you may want to wait a few minutes and then
try. You may want to rename, disable, or move any pages that query the
database to prevent them from re-locking it.

4. If all else fails, upload another copy of the database with a different
name. Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] and we will adjust the DSN.

Hope this helps.

Look for the ldb file- as per info below. Is there one defined?

When you open an Access database file (.mdb) in shared mode, Microsoft
Access also creates a locking information file (.ldb) with the same file
name (for example, Northwind.ldb) and in the same folder as the database
file. This locking information file stores the computer name (such as
mypc)
and security name (such as Admin) of each shared user of the database.
Microsoft Access uses this information to control concurrency. In most
cases, Microsoft Access automatically deletes the locking information file
when the last user closes the database file.

Can a Word or Excel Document be Saved with a .CFM Extension and Retain Word or Excel Properties?

2002-08-13 Thread Jocelyn Isidro

Hi,

Is there anyway to save a Word or Excel document with a .CFM extension, to
allow insertion and processing of CF logic for file security, but still
retain the Word or Excel properties when opening up the .CFM file?

I need to upload a number of Word and Excel docs for a customer, and need to
provide password protection for the many individuals who will be accessing
the documents. My host will provide directory password protection at $5 a
person, but I really need something I can control myself.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Vacation Rental Software?

2002-08-02 Thread Jocelyn Isidro

Basically, I need software that will let property owners register, pay a
fee, and then upload info on their vacation rental to a central site. The
owner of the site has an extremely limited budget, so the less I have to do
the better. I'll probably end up trading work for cabin rentals - but
they're in Lake Tahoe so that might not be too bad.

You're right though, I might just take some buy car software. That's pretty
similar.

Thanks.

Does anyone know why a datasource added and verified through the CF
Administrator cannot be found by the CF template? I had to install CF on a
new server because the old one got fried. Now when I run exactly the same
template, CF is looking for the datasource in C:\WINNT\system32. I know I
must be making a stupid error, but can't figure out what happened. As I
said, it is verified as OK through Administrator in the directory where I
put it (not C:\WINNT\system32). The query hasn't changed from the old
server to the new. Here is the error message:

Thank you in advance.

"ODBC Error Code = S1000 (General error)

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Could not find file 'C:
\WINNT\system32\RPAdminTables.mdb'.

SQL = "SELECT password, disabled, user_first_name, user_last_name,
super_user FROM RPAdminTables.users WHERE user_id = 'JISIDRO'"

Data Source = "RPAdminTables"

SQL = "SELECT password, disabled, user_first_name, user_last_name,
super_user FROM RPAdminTables.users WHERE user_id = 'JISIDRO'"

The error occurred while processing an element with a general identifier of
(CFQUERY), occupying document position (60:1) to (60:63)."

Valuelist Delimiter?

2000-05-01 Thread jocelyn . isidro

I know this is a basic question, but how do you set the delimiter to
something besides a comma when using Valuelist? I am running through a
list of text descriptions that include commas, and when using Listgetat to
get value, CF is parsing my internal commas as well. The CF documentation
indicates a delimiter is an argument, but I can't seem to make it work.

Thanks.

RE: CF and DB2

2000-04-12 Thread jocelyn . isidro

I've set up DB2 CAE many, many times on our NT servers here. We started
with V2.1, and recently upgraded to V5.2 on our NT servers here. We had a
lot of trouble getting it to work initially, mostly due to our funky
network set up (DB2/Datajoiner on Unix to LU6.2 to VTAM to DB2), but it
works pretty reliably now. If you are using a mainframe version of DB2, I
believe the DB2 version must be 5 or higher to run CAE 5.2. I don't know
about the AS400 version.

The CAE goes on the server, not on the PC, if you plan to use it with Cold
Fusion on the server. Some CF java-based functions (e.g. certain functions
of CFGRID) are not supported by the CAE 5.2 ODBC driver, at least not in
our shop.

Here is another link with the CAE download:

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

I have seen several reports of successful connections to DB2. I think
"Client Access Enabler" is IBM's term for the DB2 client libraries that
most, if not all, client applications would need to have installed in order
to talk to DB2. If you have a DB2 admin around, ask them what IBM software
is generally installed on a workstation to allow it to talk to DB2.

Hello all,

Do any of you have experience with Cold Fusion and a DB2 back end? Allaire
maintains that there is some software called "Client Access Enabler" makes
it possible for Cold Fusion to work with a DB2 database, but I am having
some difficulty getting any information on this software.

Thanks!

Brian
