I've been trying this, and having a few problems!!

It sends the email with multiparts, as intended... however, Netscape no
longer displays the email in HTML, it seems to prefer displaying the
text mode! When I sent emails with TYPE="HTML", Netscape displayed them
correctly.

Yet in another email program that I use that DIDN'T display the
TYPE="HTML" newsletters correctly (just a pile of HTML) it now works!!
Bizzare!!

Can you ever win!! :)

I think you are right, they are the domain police and if the registrar is no longer in
business another registrar should have taken over their domains or they whould revert

Re: CF Permissions in IIS

2001-09-21 Thread net_man

I would check permissions on the files them selves. Sounds like some permissions may
not have propogated to the files themselves.

Robert

[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
> I have a question for the group:
Is there some permission that needs to be set to have cfscripts run under
IIS.

The reason I ask is this. We have a development server that is password
protected using standard NT security. This has worked fine until this
morning. Browsing to an HTML file works fine, but any CFM page that we try
to brows to gives an NT challenge which will not accept any password. We
have dropped the account that we used to use, and recreated it, but still
nothing. The only account that we can get CFM pages to work under is the
Administrator log in, and our systems guy is freaking out that we are using
this account.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: RE: RE: Code Red backdoor triggered?

2001-09-21 Thread net_man

The roll up patch that fixed Code Red was supposed to also apply to this one. This is
the only way we could have not gotten infected because it was trying to use the same
attack code red did on IIS.. Now if you got infected via an email or throguh viewing
a webpage that had it, that was a virus scan issue. However webservers should have
been protected from the code red patch from MS. I know it did not infect our server
that was being attacked.

Thanks,
Robert

Re: RE: Code Red backdoor triggered?

2001-09-21 Thread net_man

I had the patch and therefore was not infected by the worm this time. However it had
another attack where it made DOS type gets against what Code Red would have left. It
crippled our box for about 2 hours, but we found a fix that was not published
anywhere, but seemed so obvious when we figured it out.

Since this worm was attacking IP address that respond to port 80, there is only a
couple of ways to keep the traffic from killing IIS. 1 -- is to filter the traffic
which usually results in alot of work finding the right ACL combination for your
router to filter packets with the correct stream or block ports which is not an option
if you are serving webiste to the public. 2- the other way is to find a way for an IP
Address to not respond to port 80 traffic, but still serve Web Pages on port 80.
Sounds crazy but it can be done. All you need to do is bind a host header to the site
based on the domain it serves. It killed the traffic and brought us back online. I
know it works as I had recommended to someone else getting attacked and got the same
amazing result. I had not seen it
mentioned on the list so I thought I would throw it out there if someone else was
still fighting the attack from outside. I would be happy to help further if people
need it.

Thanks for your time,
Robert

One thing I'm eternally grateful for is the advice to go with
O'Reilly's Web Site and disable IIS. I've certainly gotten my 900
bucks worth in sleepful nights and time not spent cleaning up all
this crap and would heartily recommend anyone that's not already
dependent upon those programs to spend the money. IIS and FP
Extensions will never run on a server of mine. The only MS programs
running on my servers are NT/2000, Internet Exploder, SQL Server and
Access 2000. I sit here and read all this crap and just grin. Not at
y'all, but at my wise decision to spend a little now rather than

The New worm bites!!!

2001-09-19 Thread net_man

How are people fighting this thing? It uses Port 80 so filtering is not working well,
has anyone else found something to concentrate on to filter at the router or firewall.
It is not doing damage since I am patched, but it is creating enough traffic to slow
website performance.

You set identity seed and identity increment to 1 in the design of the

You will probably need to do a test and then set the result to a variable

Re: Hosting recommendations

2001-04-06 Thread net_man

Since my last flaming for posting about my service. I have tried to resist,
but I have to take offense to the statement of being down more then the
average ISP. As with all we are at the mercy of the internet in general,
but we strive to keep our uptime at 99.7% or greater and have the numbers
and stats to prove it. I constantly have my servers and sites monitored
from 3 diverse links inbound and would be happy to look into any specific
incidents people have had.

Sorry for the post, but when someone strikes a cord, I will take the abuse
from the flamers.

Thanks,

Re: WOT: Serving to the web using W2K, IIS and DSL

2001-02-26 Thread net_man

In most cases if the serving of the website is not for commercial, but
personal reasons as in the case of letting other team members see the work,
it should be no problem. The only issues would be rather she has a static
or dynamic IP Address as configurations will have to be change according to
what the IP is at the time of boot. Find out about static or dynamic and I
can help form there.

Re: SQL Server Licensing Woes

2001-01-29 Thread net_man

Actually if you are using a WebServer to connect to the SQL Server you do
not need an Internet Connector License. Internet Connector Licenses are for
users from the internet connecting directly to the SQL Server as in many
Win32 apps that were developed. Attached is the link to this information.
I was advised of this by the Microsoft Licensing Center. You would need a
CAL for every WebServer that will connect to the SQL Server and any other
device from the internet that would be accessing the resources of the SQL
Server.

early revisions email Al Nickles at [EMAIL PROTECTED] He is the developer
and can give you all the details of this amazing technology.

Re: BEST Reccomendations for CF Hosting

2001-01-24 Thread net_man

For small sites it does not mean much, but it is a restriction to your
service. They will only allow you to transfer so much data per month. Then
there is a surcharge. The amount of data you transfer is dependent on
graphics, and so forth. Look for one that does not restrict your data
transfer.

Re: Storing/Encrypting Credit Cards

2001-01-17 Thread net_man

Just a note on encrypting. I know of a company getting ready to release a
strong encryption tag that will use 128bit ryndahl encryption algorithm.
look at www.cfxworks.com for more info. Actually there site is still under
construction, but will be ready soon. It should be released very soon and it
is rock solid from our testing... You can forward any questions to me...

Thanks,

Re: Multiple Servers - Cluster Cats

2001-01-08 Thread net_man

On of the best hardware tools to Load Balance with is F5's Big IP. They are
easily scalable and can load balance as many servers as you have switch
space for. It far surpasses Alteon in the way it load balances...

If you are interested in a demo email Janeen at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and she
will set it up...

Re: CFMAIL

2000-12-28 Thread net_man

I use the same type of form, but the recipient states they are receiving it
in MIME format and it needs to be in ascii, is mimeattch the only one that
works or is there a work around to get it to send in ascii format instead of
MIME?

Thanks,
Robert

Binary String Data

2000-12-26 Thread net_man

Good Morning,

I hope everyone is having great holiday. I am having a dilemma that I
thought some of the programming genius's on this list could help with. We
have been developing a Custom Tag that will use the rijndael encryption
algorithm to encrypt strings of data as well as files and decrypt them for
output as well. The problem that we have been encountering is Cold Fusion
Specific, it is in reference to the way Cold Fusion handles Binary strings.
Rijndael when it encrypts a string,, upon a particular combination of
characters, will input an arbitrary hex 00 into the encrypted string, and
when the string is passed by cold fusion with this hex 00, cold fusion will
truncate the string at the hex 00 ( apparently seeing it as end of string)
which in turns makes us lose a significant amount of data in the string. I
have not been able to find any documentation on this and was wondering if
anyone else had seen this behavior, and is there a setting to control it.
We can fix the problem programmatically, but it will cause a lengthening of
the data string that is passed to a database or file etc...

Any help would be appreciated,

Robert

Re: Hosting Options

2000-12-23 Thread net_man

Anyone is welcome to use Netmechanic or other tools for testing our response
times and ask any clients we have. We have been doing the hosting in other
providers facilities for several years and just combined 2 companies to
build our own hosting facility.

Again as I my last message showed, sorry if I came across as spamming.

Thanks,
Robert

Re: Hosting Options

2000-12-23 Thread net_man

Didn't mean to strike a cord. Just thought since I was replying to so many
requests for hosting today, I would give an overview of the new player in
the market. As for the question that is being referred to, it is more a
programmer specific question and not a hosting question. Hard distinguish
for some I am sure. Shouldn't question my expertise until you know first
hand. I only profess to deliver high quality Cold Fusion and Web Hosting as
well as good prices, no mention of programming.

Sorry to those who thought I spammed,

Robert

We are working on a new interface as I write this I am trying to finish up
the look and feel.

I am sorry for no way out of the flash, but we have all our links embedded
in the flash. There's not a show to sit through before you get to the good
stuff, so that has to be a plus.

Check out our prices and what we offer and it will be worth having to look
at the flash.

AFAIK no - we were looking for this a month or so back and decided it'd be
better to code our own.
