Amazon using CF
Hey Guys: I was looking at some amazon.com source and notice quite a bit of whitespace, resembling CF output. Does anyone know if Amazon uses CF or what language they do use. I'm pretty sure Amazon has its own scripting language. I know Excite does. Re: Amazon using CF
Although, 'easy to read' CFML just means a good coder coded it. I wouldn't take that as a reflection on Allaire or ColdFusion. I've worked with CFM templates that were so large and poorly written it took weeks to make heads or tails out of it. Raymond Camden wrote: > > Outside of losing a client, why is this bad? That's because they didn't convert anything. They loaded Toys R Us's inventory into their existing system. Nothing new had to be written. RE: Amazon using CF
I first heard about it last spring and apparently it had been in the works for some time. - Steve -Original Message- From: Jim McAtee [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, December 14, 2000 11:52 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: Re: Amazon using CF If I remember correctly, the announcement about the partnership with Amazon was made in August of this year. All in all, pretty ballsy, unless it had been in the works for quite some time. RE: Amazon using CF
Amazon used to use CF - Allaire was proud to have them as a client about two years ago - since then they are tried asp,cgi and other such nonsense! James "You're a big man, but you're out of shape. I think it is quite possible that there might be some left overs from the Toy'Rus stuff but other than that I don't think your gonna find any. - Original Message - From: "Aaron Johnson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Talk" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, December 14, 2000 2:53 PM Subject: RE: Amazon using CF > -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- > Hash: SHA1 > > I'll give $5 to the person who can a .cfm file on Amazon.com. > > Seriously... > > > > > > Aaron Johnson, MCSE, MCP+I > Allaire Certified ColdFusion Developer > MINDSEYE, Inc. > 617.350.0339 > 617.350.8884 > 66172567 > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > ___ > "Never forget that only dead fish swim with > the stream." -- Malcolm Muggeridge > ___ > > > - -Original Message----- > From: John Grubb [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Thursday, December 14, 2000 2:11 PM > To: CF-Talk > Subject: RE: Amazon using CF > > > Yes, they do, among other languages. Re: Amazon using CF
> Yep. One bug recently found in IIS+CF give source code of any *.cfm. AFAIK > many websites on CF can be broken very easily then. I am pretty sure that the issue that you are referring to release code for ASP, JSP, and any other server side scripting as well. That issue had nothing to do with Cold Fusion whatsoever. As long as you code efficiently and code with security issues in mind you CF apps will be secure. The big problem is that you need to keep up to date with the thousands of patches put out by Microsoft for IIS. -Greg - Original Message - From: "Gena" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Talk" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, November 05, 2000 8:06 PM Subject: Re: Amazon using CF > > Do you think that the largest online e-tailor wants people to know what > > language and app servers they use?
