CFServer Problem

2003-01-05 Thread John Allred
Me again.

I've been working for several days to repair whatever problem has
mangled my ColdFusion installation. I've uninstalled everything related
to CF that I can find, cleaned up the registry, uninstalled IIS,
reinstalled Windows, reinstalled IIS, reinstalled ColdFusion, and I
continue to have the same problem.

In addition I've spent considerable time on both Microsoft's and
Macromedia's web sites and in the books.

So I throw myself on the mercy of you guys. There has to be an expert
who's faced a similar problem and who can point me in the right
direction.

I'm running:
Win2K Pro (plenty of RAM and disk space - no current registry errors)
IIS 5.0 - The server displays its default files and help system, so I
know it's running okay.
I had MDAC 2.7, but I think my most recent reinstallation of CF may have
reinstalled MDAC 2.0 (but reinstalling 2.7 doesn't change the situation)
CF 4.01

This is the error message I get in Windows Events:

The SiteMinder Authentication Service service failed to start due to the
following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

Authorization Service is not running either. It displays:

The SiteMinder Authorization Service service failed to start due to the
following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

For both, Windows displays Event ID: 7000

My choices are to call Microsoft ($$), call Macromedia ($$), or take my
computer to a local repair shop ($$).

Thanks for any help you can provide.
John

John, I might be wrong,
but as far as I know 4, Win2k is unsupported
by CF 4.01
I think you must run at least 4.5.x

Re: CFServer Problem

2003-01-06 Thread John Allred
Good thought, Uwe, but I've run 4.01 under Win2K for a year and a half
without a hiccup. But, thanks anyway. My suspicions run toward the IIS
Metabase or some Windows .dll that got corrupted. Whatever files the two
Siteminder apps depend on have been corrupted, or something is
preventing them from being installed.

I can't turn them on, since they are off. I don't know if Siteminder

but when I attempt to access my datasources through the database tab

construct queries), and I receive the following message:

RE: CFServer Problem

2003-01-08 Thread Cornillon, Matthieu
This is going to sound really stupid, but it's a solution to a similar
problem in my installation. Worth a try:

When you attempt to access the datasources, try to log in. It will give you
the error message. Then try again immediately. In my installation, for
whatever reason, this works. It's just development, so I don't really care.
If your error is happening in production, though, perhaps it's indicative of
a broader problem? I don't know.

In any case, hope this helps.

IIS / CFServer Problem

2002-08-15 Thread Britta

I've WinXP with IIS installed with Cold Fusion Server 5, default website IP
all unassigned, CF administrator shows up
http://127.0.0.1/CFIDE/Administrator/index.cfm.
I can view html & CFM pages on the sites on my computer just fine as long as
my cable modem is not
hooked up to the internet.

The moment I connect, I get an "internal server error 500" and I can no
longer view any of the pages. I've changed the IP in the default site to
be my real IP, but now I'm getting "Gateway Timeout - The following error
occurred: A gateway timeout occurred. The server is unreachable."

So where do I go from here to be able to access the pages when I'm hooked
up to the net?

I'm just starting with this. I'd like to know if I just need to change a
setting or if this is some complicated mess... Thanks so much for you
time - I really appreicate it!

http://127.0.0.1 should work - do you have any proxy server setup or are you

RE: IIS / CFServer Problem

2002-08-15 Thread Turetsky, Seth

Is this possibly due to the fact that most cable modems block port 80, since they
don't want home users running web servers? At home, I set IIS to run on port 8080 and
then specify it in the url.

It shouldn't go out over the cable modem to request it, if you are using

Re: IIS / CFServer Problem

2002-08-15 Thread Britta

I found the solution! I had to go in and manually configure the LAN
Settings -(Network Settings-Change Settings-Advanced-Change Settings, which
brings you to Services) and checking "web server" and inputting my specific
IP. Then I changed 127.0.0.1 to my IP in the IIS Site Manager as well, and
changed the IP of http://127.0.0.1/CFIDE/Administrator/index.cfm to include
my IP instead as well.

Installing IIS and CF Server for some reason did not automatically
recoginize and configure this connection.

I'm incuding these details just in case another newbie has the same
problem...

Thanks very much for your help everybody, your suggestions got me started on
the road to discovery!

Cheers,
Britta
