Re: MAX 2005 [USA] City?

2005-03-29 Thread Alex Sherwood
I think MAX 2004 was supposed to be San Diego, and it was changed to
Salt Lake at the last minute. I would bet it's San Diego this year. My
guess is that the San Diego convention center needed the space, and
offered MACR a really good deal for 2005 if they voluntarily moved the
conference away (despite having signed the deal already). Just
speculation, though.

How 'bout coming back to Orlando?!

As far as training budget is concerned, I normally assume a certain
amount each year that would cover both a local and an opposite coast
conference. Usually works out about right. Even if your conference
budget is for just one a year, you could still budget for an opposite
coast conference and then if it ends up being local to you, use the
money for other training :)

I have been to every MAX (even the DevCons) except Salt Lake and New
Orleans. Company has always footed the bill.

Suprisingly, I work less than 3 miles from where CFUNITED (a.k.a. CFFUN)
is hosted, and I have never been.

2005-03-29 Thread Robert Munn
San Diego would be great! The airport is right downtown, there are plenty of
hotels near the convention center, and you can walk to pretty much everything
worth seeing, including Petco Park. For those of you who don't want to walk, we
have regular taxis, bicycle taxis, and now we have this taxi service that uses
these little electric vehicles that look like golf carts.

Disneyland actually could be pretty cool if done right. It's nothing like
Disney World. Everything is far more compact, which means you can walk to all
the parks, Downtown Disney, etc.

I was bummed the 2003 conference was moved to Salt Lake City, because that's
the only one I missed.

request. My old boss wanted hard numbers for the conference. Giving a ball
park estimate of airfare and hotel were never good enough.

Planning an event this big is alot of work, and the timing is often
dependant on product release dates and other variables that simply
aren't known that far in advance.

You can please all the people all the time.
