I see that with other searches too. Too many porn sites taking over old domain names, too many squatters doing the same. All these worthless directory sites come up before the actual site you are looking for. Really sucks. It's such a big indutry it even has its own acronym - SEO (searche engine optimization), conferences, the whole nine yards. Google apparently tries to stay ahead of the curve on the marketers, but I just don't see how they can. There are way more people trying to game their system than they have trying to re-jigger it. At the end of the day, good old Yahoo - sites indexed after being researched by humans- may be the only way to get good references. Well, we don't get as down and dirty as that - although our previous person, whew! She was just plain evil. We do things like create doorway pages for certain keywords, pages that really don't have a whole lot except keyword rich material. It's all coherent, and looking at any of these pages would make you think you were just on another page on the site. Of course, I've seen the pages with incoherent babble with the keywords all jumbled in there. To me, that is not playing by the rules, but our method is. Not sure if Google thinks the same as us, but we haven't been banned yet, and we are usually very careful not to rock the boat too much. You do what you have to to get ranked. It's too damn competitive not to. I guess my point is, is if Google is going to continue to rank pages the way that they do (I understand it is an ever-changing algorithm), then the masses are just going to have to do what they have to to get ranked. Hence, hate the game. That's sort of my point. SEO is agnostic to the quality of the material, so you have to deploy your own SEO White Hats to foil the SEO Black Hats working for the squatters. Yep...doorway pages are a different beast than these directory sites Doorways are usually same domain for starterand optimized for specific keywords. That allows you to setup multiple doorways and log through-traffic to see which ones are working and which ones suck. Directory sites are FAKE directories setup like doorway pages (optimized for key words or phrase), but they are different domains than the main site they are sending folks to. This artificially inflates the number of non-reciprical inbound links to the main site and thus makes the main site look like a wealth of info about the subject matterpage rank goes up.
