RE: Apache 2.0.42 - Stay away... stay w/ Apache 2.0.40
I'd be curious what the typical setup is of the people having problems. The following questions come to mind. What version of Apache 1.3.x has problems? Just 1.3.24 or others? Is the Apache installation from source or RPM? Does the CFMX updater have anything to do with it? I should note that I am using the latest RPM from RedHat for Apache, which is 1.3.22 and I haven't updated CFMX yet. Does the CFMX updater have anything to do with it? We have not updated our dev environments. We're in the process of migrating our integration config (Apache 2.0.x backed by Apache 1.3.x per my recent blog entry) back onto dev to resolve the issue since we don't plan to deploy on Apache 1.3.x anyway. RE: Apache 2.0.42 - Stay away... stay w/ Apache 2.0.40
We've had CFMX running over Apache 1.3 for a while on test boxes here... Nothing production ready yet, but looks pretty stable to me... There's seems to be tonnes of apprehension amongst our *nix people to move to apache 2. There almost seems to be a security fix coming out once a week almost... One would think they are getting the Microsoft flu :) My mistakes about the assumption though. Apparantly cfmx supports both flavours of apache... Dunno where I came up with that notion... I can't speak for Linux - I'm not using it in anger - only for Solaris. Could you elaborate on that? OS grudges aren't healthy, you know. OS grudges aren't healthy, you know. You misunderstand me (no, really!): I love Linux, I use it at home, I run CFMX on it. I just don't have any production systems running CFMX on Linux. At work, we have Solaris and do heavy lifting with CFMX on Solaris. My team's experience is that Apache 2.0.x seems more reliable with CFMX than Apache 1.3.x. RE: Apache 2.0.42 - Stay away... stay w/ Apache 2.0.40
Big probs with cfmx on on apache with 'nix unless u use apache 2+ -Original Message- From: Costas Piliotis [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, September 26, 2002 7:20 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: RE: Apache 2.0.42 - Stay away... stay w/ Apache 2.0.40 Honestly, there is no real need to use apache 2 yet anyways. All of the modules out there are supporting 1.3.whatever... PHP desn't officially support Apache 2 yet, and afaik CF Server doesn't officially support it either AFAIK... But I could be wrong... Dave will probably counter with something more informed :) -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, September 26, 2002 11:44 AM To: CF-Talk Subject: Apache 2.0.42 - Stay away... stay w/ Apache 2.0.40 Looks like the Apache Group strikes again... another magic number change, another cfmx server connector rebuild needed. I've informed Macromedia already. You would think that if Apache is going to keep doing this that they'd keep the old builds of the .msi files available until 2-3 versions later or so. Anyone know where I can get the 2.0.40 .msi build? It also supports Apache 1.3.x, but there are apparently some problems with using 1.3 and CF MX on Linux, from what I've heard. Also, on Windows, Apache 2 is supposed to be significantly better than 1.3.x. It's unfortunate, though, that every point release is breaking the JRun connector.
