Re: Linkpoint Web Service API
Does anyone have any experience with Linkpoint Web Services? I installed 64bit CF9 and found that the DLL COM call does not work. I need to reprogam to use WebServices instead. I don't yet, but I have one project that is using LinkPoint's old COM object to handle payments and another one in the works which will need to talk to LinkPoint as well in the next couple of months. I'll likely be rewriting our interface for that project and applying it to the older one as well. If you find something already built that works with their newer model, or hire someone to build it (I see your post on cf-jobs as well), I'd be interested in anything you find or potentially purchasing a copy of the one you have built if you hire it out as it would save me some time as well. -Just ~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/message.cfm/messageid:347258 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/unsubscribe.cfm

I'm curious how others are approaching it so I'll have a place to start when we do have to dive in again. RE: Linkpoint COM object and Permissions
When I run CFMX as the administrator I can call the linkpoint COM object and it works. When I run CF under our designated user account, the call to linkpoint does not work and crashes CFMX. What permissions should I be looking at to resolve this problem? DCOMCNFG is the tool you use to set ACLs for COM objects. You can run it from a command prompt. You can set blanket permissions for all COM objects, or specific ones for individual COM objects. RE: Linkpoint
I am integrating the linkpoint API today and am having a few issues. The instructions read: Copy ssleay32.dll AND libeay32.dll to the %ROOT%/system32 directory (C:\WINNT\system32\). Copy LPICOM_6_0.dll to the %ROOT%/system32 directory (C:\WINNT\system32\). Register the LPICOM_6_0.dll. (regsvr32 c:\winnt\system32\lpicom_6_0.dll). When I try to run regsvr32 c:\winnt\system32\lpicom_6_0.dll, I get a message saying LoadLibrary(c:\winnt\system32\lpicom_6_0.dll) failed - The specified module could not be found. Does anyone know why I would get this type of error? I also heard the linkpoint had a CFX tag but I could not find it. If anyone has it, can they please send it to me? Thanks! There may be an additional DLL that's needed by LPICOM_6_0.DLL. You can check this by using Dependency Walker (DEPENDS.EXE), which is included in the Windows Resource Kit as well as within most MS development toolkits, I think. RE: Linkpoint API Host not responding problem.
Here is an example from the documentation.I'm not sure exactly where you would put this in our code, quite possibly you would put it in multiple locations of your code. blockquote * You can nest cftry blocks. For example, the following structure is valid: cftry code that may cause an exception cfcatch ... cftry First level of exeption handling code cfcatch ... Second level of exception handling code /cfcatch /cftry /cfcatch /cftry If an exception occurs in the first level of exception-handling code, the inner cfcatch block can catch and handle it. (An exception in a cfcatch block cannot be handled by cfcatch blocks at the same level as that block.) /blockquote This shows the concept of putting nested try-catch blocks inside the the catch block of other try-catch blocks. (That is not an awkward sentence!)Anyway, you can use something like this to try a piece of code as many times as you like, then still have an out of none of the trays work. What I would probably do is put the code I'm trying in some kind of included source (cfinclude, custom tag, UDF or CFC) then I could call the code in multiple locations of the nested try-catch blocks without having to re-code it every time. Sounds like and ideal situation for a try-catch block. You can build just such a try catch system, that retries x number of times than if no luck, displays a friendly type message that hopefully encourages the user to try their purchase again in the near future. Yeah I already have two phone calls into there support, but I have been waiting for their ColdFusion expert to call me back. They actually stop supporting ColdFusion at the beginning of this year for some insane reason. Don't they know ColdFusion is going to take over the world as the preferred language? Knuckle Heads... Anyway its driving me crazy... they said their gateway is working fine, it's supposedly the same gateway for everyone. I have another friend using them with an asp site and he has reported no errors but he does not do much business over the web. I will try to make some type of loop I guess... I saw a while back that they had a CFX tag that I could used but now as I'm looking on their site is says ColdFusion is no longer supported (What's with that?). At any rate I was looking at their API solution but it seems like its missing something in the install instruction for Coldfusion, they mention that I need to use the OpenSSL and cURL of which none of these are supported under windows server as far as I could tell.I tried calling the support team and the guy I talked to did not have a clue and said someone will call me back. Is anyone using a CFX customer tag for LinkPoint and if so is there one I can download or use? I guess my other option is the HTML/XML wrappers but I'm not sure if that's the best way to go. Re: Linkpoint
If I remember correctly - yes you need a merchant account before or through them. Linkpoint is owned by International Card Service- one of those mega mulit billion dollar giant processors. However - you can receive merchant account through there channels - One of my clients is being solicited by some processor - turns out they are really only using linkpoint and international card service for back end.. trying to figure out how to implement that right now.. but I do know my client needed a merchant account. on another note - watch out for them - they swindled me out of about 15 developer referral payments 2 years back - in addition after 5 months of trying to upgrade my own account to one of the newer linkpotin gateway's at that time - again 2 years ago - I gave up and cancelled them as a processor. jay miller Oh and P.S. - because I sent my software back in one time frame and they said they didn't receive my written request in this very inconvient encoded time window - they nailed me for a 6 month penalty - so I had cancelled them and still had to pay for another 6 months of services. point of all this is just be thorough. RE: Linkpoint
Jason, Not really sure - I didn't handle the account setup. I believe we had a merchant account and linkpoint was then setup. They do have reoccuring billing, even without the API. The API service seems to get you some C source code; the CFX tag costs an additional $95. Right now I'm working with their HTTP based service. BTW, I've gotten around the refer problem but now I can't get their server to post back verification to my server...anyone have any other ideas? RE: Linkpoint
FWIW, I was able to get the Linkpoint basic service working with CF today. For the archives, here's what needed to be done. I wasn't able to get much help from their tech support, but the user manual at www.linkpoint.com was a good reference to work off of. (according to it this type of operation *is* supported) Basically, linkpoint basic seems to work a lot like PayPal can - you assemble your cart and pass data over to their web server. They have a few options for how much they handle on their site vs what you handle on your site, but thats the basic idea. (the idea is: [Your web site] --- [Linkpoint pay page] --- [Your web site]) They have a form variable that you can submit that basically tells it that it is talking to a CGI application instead of being passed via URL reference to the web browser. While this works OK, there are a few gotcha's involved: 1) Their gateway script checks the Referer. Since CFHTTP doesn't send one by default, you need to add a CFHTTPPARAM of type CGI called Referer. You can set this to anything that looks like a URL, it doesn't need to be valid, although I'd suggest using your own domain name, etc. Next you need to set this URL as the URL that Linkpoint thinks your payment form is at. The gotcha is that CFHTTP sends everything URL encoded, so basically URL encode the URL you come up with above and enter THAT into the Linkpoint admin tool 2) Grabbing the data coming BACK from the gateway (transaction status, etc) is a bit tricky as well. Since the gateway is really designed for a browser, the response page includes a form that can post the result back to your web server. The Linkpoint admin tool has two more spaces for URLs - one for a thank you page and another for a sorry page. Again, as long as whatever you enter in looks like a valid URL everything should work OK (although note the URLs you put in) There is also a checkbox for each indicating that they are a CGI script; make sure that is checked. (these URL's don't need to be URL encoded) These URLs are used in the return page that the gateway generates when you post to it. We ran a script (Thanks Ryan!) that parses out all the input type=hidden tags that contain the data that the gateway is intending to use the browser to post back to the web server. We also check which URL the form tag is pointed to so we know if this is a success or not. (if its pointing to the sorry page, there has been an error, otherwise if we get the thank you page URL everything worked) We then capture the parsed data and update our database accordingly. The whole thing works in less than 2-3 seconds, which isn't too bad considering whats going on in the background. So far I'm pretty happy with Linkpoint; took a bit of tinkering around. I believe the API can provide more functionality (returns and credits) but if all you need is a quick way of charging something this works pretty well. (linkpoint's own admin tool can do returns and the like, of course) -Matt -Original Message- From: Jason Miller [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, March 07, 2003 8:39 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: Re: Linkpoint Thanks for posting that - I'm sure it will prove awfully useful when reading the API documentation. I haven't implemented anything with linkpoint for 2 years.. so refresh is a big help. look at that - didn't even post a question and got my answer :) jay Ezine wrote: Jason, It is relatively expensive to set up an API account.. though I have seen it for as low as $500. The Actual API is extremely complicated :)..'C++' Libraries are provided for free for anyone who wants to make one.. but they also offer the API/wrapper as a separate product(an additional $40) It is also extremely fast.. and a C++ CFX_Custom Tag. It also does Tax Calculation, virtual check, address verification service, Zone based Shipping. It does do Recurring transactions! http://www.linkpoint.com/product_solutions/internet/linkpoints electapi/l pa_m http://www.linkpoint.com/product_solutions/internet/linkpoint selectapi/ lpa_m ain.html sorry if this wraps ;). The CFX tag uses a query data type to return the product data back to the LinkPoint So you must Create that Query using the queryNew function Ex: CFSET ItemContext = queryNew(ITEMID, DESCRIPTION, ITEMPRICE, ITEMQTY) cfoutput query=orders CFSET TempValue = queryAddRow(ItemContext) CFSET TempValue = querySetCell(ItemContext, ITEMID, #product#) CFSET TempValue = querySetCell(ItemContext, DESCRIPTION, #description#) cfset retailpricen=#retailprice# CFSET TempValue = querySetCell(ItemContext, ITEMPRICE, #retailpricen#) CFSET TempValue = querySetCell(ItemContext, ITEMQTY, #quantity#) /cfoutput Here is some example code using the CFX tag: This code has had the Item and Customer queries removed for security purposes so IT WON'T work

The way they have the CF tag set up isn't exactly the way I would do it, but it works fine and service wise I've not had any issues. Seems pretty fast to authorize as well. I was finding alot of long running pages on one site on my server in the server.log. I narrowed it down to it's always the connection to LinkPoint running 2 and 3 minutes. I actually had to pass a requesttimeout of 420 seconds to the page that calls the CFX tag. This is a site that does hundreds of orders a day and the long running pages only average a couple a day, so it's not too bad, but I've never had one show up on any of my authorize.net sites. -- Bud Schneehagen - Tropical Web Creations _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ ColdFusion Solutions / eCommerce Development [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.twcreations.com/ 954.721.3452 __ Structure your ColdFusion code with Fusebox. Re: Linkpoint API
I use the LinkPoint API and CFX tag on the DtDNS site and have never had any major issues with them. They do take their reports, etc down now and then for maintenance, which is mildly annoying. They also only maintain reports online for 3 months, so if you get a chargeback from before that far back, you must have your own records on the transaction. Aside from that, their support is very good thus far and the transaction processing is pretty quick. Since I don't do a high volume of sales I don't know how well it will stand up to pressure though. -Justin Scott, Lead Developer Sceiron Internet Services, Inc. http://www.sceiron.com - Original Message - From: Joseph DeVore [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: CF-Talk [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, May 06, 2002 2:10 PM Subject: Linkpoint API Anyone here ever used the Linkpoint API? On 2/6/02, [EMAIL PROTECTED] penned: Hi, does anyone here have any experience with the Linkpoint Cold Fusion tag. Their documentation is really poor and I can't figure out: 1. Precisely how you define the total amount for a transaction that does not have any shipping or tax info involved. It calls for a query to be passed to it, which could be used for passing multiple line items. I just create the query with one record, the total of the order with a quantity of 1. For the description, rather than a description of the item, I put the description of the order. Like Online Sale or whatnot. For itemid, rather than a product ID, I just pass the store number to pass something. itemprice is the order total. CFSET ItemContext = queryNew(ITEMID, DESCRIPTION, ITEMPRICE, ITEMQTY) CFSET TempValue = queryAddRow(ItemContext) CFSET TempValue = querySetCell(ItemContext, ITEMID, attributes.login) CFSET TempValue = querySetCell(ItemContext, DESCRIPTION, attributes.description) CFSET TempValue = querySetCell(ItemContext, ITEMPRICE, attributes.amount) CFSET TempValue = querySetCell(ItemContext, ITEMQTY, 1) Then I pass the query the the cfx tag with an empty shipping value and ordertax of 0. ORDERSHIPPINGPRICE = ORDERTAX = 0 QUERY = ItemContext Of course there are a zillion other parameters also. 2. Which field provides the result of the transaction and CSIOrderFieldApproved returns Approved for an approval. Anything else is a decline or an error. If an error, CSIOrderFieldError returns the reason or error I believe. I've also found that if you do a duplicate transaction, the tag returns a ColdFusion error rather than an error from the tag with the CSIOrderFieldError field. I therefore wrap the whole calling tag with cftry. The default of 3 below, I use to designate an error in case the tag doesn't work, which like I said, it doesn't on a duplicate transaction. CFPARAM NAME=caller.linkpoint_response_text DEFAULT= CFPARAM NAME=caller.linkpoint_result DEFAULT=3 cftry CFX_LinkAPI etc etc CFIF CSIOrderFieldApproved IS Approved cfset caller.linkpoint_result = 1 cfelse cfset caller.linkpoint_response_text = CSIOrderFieldError cfset caller.linkpoint_result = 2 /CFIF cfcatch type=any CFIF cfcatch.detail contains order number given must be unique Here I run a query to check the database where I write the result to the order. cfquery name=checkorder blah blah blah /cfquery CFIF checkorder.OrderApproved IS 1 cfset caller.linkpoint_result = 1 cfelse cfset caller.linkpoint_result = 2 /CFIF /cfif 3. The variable codes of the transaction result, i.e. 0 = declined, 1 = approved, 2 = customer sucks, etc, etc I don't think there are any. Just the Approved string I mentioned. :) I use the caller values I set myself (I put mine in a custom tag, just set them in the variables scope rather than the caller scope if you put the cfx_LinkAPI tag right into your template). 1=approved 2=declined (display my caller.linkpoint_response_text which = CSIOrderFieldError) 3=error (display error processing request, try again) HTH. The tag is a little archaic but it's worked OK the few times I've had to use it. -- Bud Schneehagen - Tropical Web Creations _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ ColdFusion Solutions / eCommerce Development [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.twcreations.com/ __ Get Your Own Dedicated Windows 2000 Server PIII 800 / 256 MB RAM / 40 GB HD / 20 GB MO/XFER Instant Activation · $99/Month · Free Setup http://www.pennyhost.com/redirect.cfm?adcode=coldfusionb FAQ: http://www.thenetprofits.co.uk/coldfusion/faq Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/cf-talk@houseoffusion.com/ Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=lists
