RE: Merchant account of choice

2005-03-29 Thread Ken Ferguson
There's nothing to "find". I'm not saying that I'm running several
customers' sites off of one merchant account. It's one company's account
running more than one of their sites. Just like 5 stores with card
swipers tied to the same merchant account.

2005-03-29 Thread Ken Ferguson
I don't know if we're on exactly the same ground here. These sites are
all mine. They all belong to one business. I've certainly never been
told that there are legal issues in this. All you're doing is processing
a credit card transaction. If I sold my goods in 5 different stores, I
wouldn't need 5 separate merchant accounts.

Have you been told there are legal issues with this? We are thinking of
implementing something similar but Bank Of America said you can't
legally. Obviously, there are other problems like having to handle
disputed claims and getting the checks cut and sent to the individual
clients, but I just don't want to start down a road and find out I'm
doing something illegal.

In a related question, how many of you have multiple sites using credit
card processors? Do you make each site sign up for a separate merchant
account or has anyone been successful in setting something up where all
transactions go through one account?

Also, I heard that PayPal was supposed to be implementing an API so you
could process through them directly from your site without any jump over
to one of their pages, but I haven't had luck in making it work. They
handed out the CDs at MAX and they have stuff on their site, but I
haven't been able to figure it out. Anyone with better luck than me?

I got my merchant account through payquake (no minimum transaction fees
like many, though they have slightly higher rates and an "annual fee"..
but for as little as I use credit cards, payquake works well.

The processing goes through authorize.net, which I love dearly, for one
major reason:

No custom tag required.

I like that I can just use CFHTTP to make my calls to authorize.net ..
I've used others in the past that required the use of a CFX and I found
them to be troublesome.

Me too. Don't know about rates, but their integration is simple.

Check out CF_AUTHORIZE custom tag from Oleani (sp?) or
www.xauthorize.com - who makes a COM object that interacts with HUGE
number of various gateways, and offers a standard interface for getting
to them.

Hope this helps,

RE: Merchant account of choice

2005-03-28 Thread Emmet McGovern
We've been using e-onlinedata now for quite some time. We have all of our
carts processing through authorize.net and their merchant account. I still
haven't found one cheaper.

We've been able to set everyone up dame day. Credit approval and all.

https://www.e-onlinedata.com/fullcityhosting (had to plug my referral credit
if you happen to use them)
