RE: Strange CFAS 5 Error
Have you tried Isaac's suggestion (wrapping the variables with the var() function)? Did it fix it or did you get the same error? Also, what happens if you wrap each in an IsNumeric() function as in: #IsNumeric(REQUEST.LISTINGS.MAXROWS)# #IsNumeric(VARIABLES.start)# -- Mosh Teitelbaum evoch, LLC Tel: (301) 625-9191 Fax: (301) 933-3651 Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] WWW: http://www.evoch.com/ > -Original Message- > From: paul smith [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2002 10:20 PM > To: CF-Talk > Subject: RE: Strange CFAS 5 Error > > > But my code demonstrated the values of the variables using CFOUTPUT > Their values are 51 & 50. > > Then on the next line how could they change? > > I guess I wasn't clear. RE: Strange CFAS 5 Error
But my code demonstrated the values of the variables using CFOUTPUT Their values are 51 & 50. Then on the next line how could they change? I guess I wasn't clear. Here is my exact code: === #VARIABLES.start# #REQUEST.LISTINGS.MAXROWS# === The output statement above demonstrates that variables.start=51 and request.listings.maxrows=50 right before these two variables are used in the CFSET Why the error? best, paul At 03:03 PM 12/18/02 -0500, you wrote: >LOL... there's a possibility that it may not be interpreting one of your >variables as a numeric value ... RE: Strange CFAS 5 Error
I don't think so. The CFOUTPUT right before verified the value is 51. best, paul At 02:21 PM 12/18/02 -0500, you wrote: >Looks like somehow you've accidentally set variables.start to "51Please" >instead of 51 -- you know that CF will assign values even if you don't ask >nicely, right? :-P > > > > --Ben Doom > Programmer & General Lackey > Moonbow Software > >: -Original Message- >: From: paul smith [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] >: Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2002 1:17 PM >: To: CF-Talk >: Subject: Strange CFAS 5 Error >: >: >: Why would: >: >: >: #VARIABLES.start# >: >: #REQUEST.LISTINGS.MAXROWS# >: >: >: >: >: Where Variables.start=51 and request.listings.maxrows=50 >: >: throw this error: >: >: >: An error occurred while evaluating the expression: >: variables.end = variables.start + request.listings.maxrows - 1 >: Error near line 16, column 7. >: >: Cannot convert 51Please, check the ColdFusion manual for the allowed >: conversions between data types >: === >: >: repeatedly? >: >: best, paul >: > ~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=4 FAQ: http://www.thenetprofits.co.uk/coldfusion/faq This list and all House of Fusion resources hosted by CFHosting.com. RE: Strange CFAS 5 Error
LOL... there's a possibility that it may not be interpreting one of your variables as a numeric value ... You might try putting val() around both of your variables in that cfset tag and see if that solves the immediate issue. If so, then you've got a handle on figuring out just exactly what's going on with it. > Looks like somehow you've accidentally set variables.start > to "51Please" > instead of 51 -- you know that CF will assign values even > if you don't ask > nicely, right? :-P > --Ben Doom > Programmer & General Lackey > Moonbow Software > : -Original Message- > : From: paul smith [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > : Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2002 1:17 PM > : To: CF-Talk > : Subject: Strange CFAS 5 Error > : > : > : Why would: > : > : > : #VARIABLES.start# > : > : #REQUEST.LISTINGS.MAXROWS# > : > : > : request.listings.maxrows - 1> > : > : Where Variables.start=51 and request.listings.maxrows=50 > : > : throw this error: > : > : > : An error occurred while evaluating the expression: > : variables.end = variables.start + > request.listings.maxrows - 1 > : Error near line 16, column 7. > : > : Cannot convert 51Please, check the ColdFusion manual for > the allowed > : conversions between data types > : === > : > : repeatedly? > : > : best, paul > : > ~~ > ~~~| > Archives: > http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=4 > Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index. > cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=4 > FAQ: http://www.thenetprofits.co.uk/coldfusion/faq > Your ad could be here. Looks like somehow you've accidentally set variables.start to "51Please" instead of 51 -- you know that CF will assign values even if you don't ask nicely, right? :-P --Ben Doom Programmer & General Lackey Moonbow Software : -Original Message- : From: paul smith [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] : Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2002 1:17 PM : To: CF-Talk : Subject: Strange CFAS 5 Error : : : Why would: : : : #VARIABLES.start# : : #REQUEST.LISTINGS.MAXROWS# : : : : : Where Variables.start=51 and request.listings.maxrows=50 : : throw this error: : : : An error occurred while evaluating the expression: : variables.end = variables.start + request.listings.maxrows - 1 : Error near line 16, column 7. : : Cannot convert 51Please, check the ColdFusion manual for the allowed : conversions between data types : === : : repeatedly? : : best, paul : ~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=4 FAQ: http://www.thenetprofits.co.uk/coldfusion/faq Your ad could be here.
