Does anyone know of a good, simple, _free_ desktop that will compare 2 directories and all subfiles and show me the differences, if any?I picked up a project that someone else started on and the development doesn't match up to the production copy very well at all.All of the files that I've changed, I have written down so I know what to copy. However, I don't have anything for the developer who worked on it before me.Any suggestions for software would be great!Thank you. About the best one I have found was BeyondCompare. However not free. But not expensive either. I think there is a trial version. -Original Message- From: Burns, John D [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, May 24, 2004 2:44 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: Compare files in directories? RE: Compare files in directories?
I second that. Beyond Compare rocks! I've gotten so I won't hardly FTP without looking at the file differences with BC just so I'm on top of what's going up. RE: compare files??
Visual Source Safe can be used to compare files and show the differences. It integrates pretty well with CF. IMHO, it's a good idea to use some version control system anyway. RE: compare files??
For simple file-to-file comparisons I use ExamDiff Pro - http://www.examdiff.com/. It compares files (or directories) and reports differences down to the line, word, or character level. There's a free version available too.
