Well, when you create an archive, you can archive an actual web application (.cfm files, etc) instead of just archiving server settings. That path question refers to where the web application should go. Dave... many thanks for your help... one last question on this archiving stuff I'm testing a restore of an archive and the last "final" option in restoring the archive is to say where the web application directory is Is that the cfusion directory or some other directory? -Original Message- From: Dave Watts [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, June 02, 2003 10:24 AM To: CF-Talk Subject: RE: exporting DSN list > OK... First you have to define what goes in the archive, then you have to build an archive file. It can be a bit confusing at first, but it makes sense - you might want to archive the same thing frequently. When asked for a file name, enter whatever you like; that'll be the name of your archive file. You don't have to use the ".car" extension, but I'd recommend it. OK... I solved my problem by just creating a new car.properties file with no extension... here's the next question though I guess after you create an archive you have to build it? when I try to "build the archive" ... the next step asks for a file name what file name are they referring to? Because at this point there still is no "Car" file (with a .car extension)... I did a search for one and it doesnt exist Thanks for any guidance Confused and down the Rabbit Hole somewhere -Original Message- From: Tim Laureska [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, June 02, 2003 10:06 AM To: CF-Talk Subject: RE: exporting DSN list OK... RE: exporting DSN list
> Is it possible to export a DSN list using Cold Fusion > Server Administrator or otherwise (CF 5) ... so that > I don't have to manually reenter the DSN's whenever > I redo a box Yes, you can use the Archive & Restore functionality in CF 5 to export any server settings you like. When you archive server settings, you'll end up with a ".car" file which you can then restore to another server. Alternatively, you can just save the appropriate registry keys on Windows: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Allaire\ColdFusion\CurrentVersion\Datasources HKLM\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI Dave Watts, CTO, Fig Leaf Software http://www.figleaf.com/ voice: (202) 797-5496 fax: (202) 797-5444 ~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=4 FAQ: http://www.thenetprofits.co.uk/coldfusion/faq Get the mailserver that powers this list at http://www.coolfusion.com Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.4
