RE: ColdFusion 8 hosting
Those email problems are happening right now for a user I setup on this service, he companied just days ago that it takes hours for mail to get delivered and he wants out. About 6 months ago I had CF server down for 2 days, no explanation as to why or how long it would take, then it was fixed and no explanation of what the problem was. The service I found to be very slow also, servers in the US somewhere, probably in a garage on the end of a cable connection. I can get better quality than that putting a server at the end of my home ADSL. Haven't noticed too many problems lately, the only problem was one site was down for a few days because it wasn't renewed otherwise it isn't too bad. But hey, like people are saying you do get what you pay for. With my php site they have been very good, but on some issues they have taken a long time... Hey Mark... hmmm I was actually asking Dale... But seeing as you posted that, I can safely say that since then they did have a major overhaul of their servers. But... They are cheap, and you really do go what you pay for. I have a couple of clients with sites there. It's a good budget service. You get what you pay for, though. They are attentive in support issues, although i think since it's a small outfit, they are not able to provide a 24/7 support service. However their .hours of operation work fine for me here in Australia so that's not an issue. Also they have a support guy in another time zone to help cover the clock. They aren't CF8 though - only CF7 Enterprise. They are very CF friendly, knowing what we need even though they dont use CF themselves for choice. I've used them briefly. In about a month, they were down around 4/5 times, for 24 hours periods, they often put random mappings on the server that caused framework issues, and had a remarkably unresponsive support team. So yeah, they are value for money ;o) you don't pay any money, you don't get any value. For the Aussies around: FastHit.com.au and hostingfuse.com.au (they are partner companies here in Perth. FastHit has their servers in Oz, while hostingfuse has them in the States and is therefore cheaper). Have to create a site in Switzerland at the moment and did some research into hosting.
