CF/Spectra Question
I am not sure if I am in the right forum for this question, sorry if I am not. I develop with CF at this time but we have Spectra in place. I would like to create a site for a friend in Spectra. The idea is I get experience and training in Spectra by developing him a web site, I get experience and training. My company said this would be a good training session so they approved. Question: The host will be Definitive Web Solutions http://www.dwsgroup.com/ (thanks Ben Forta for your ISP site reference). I did not see anything specific to Spectra in their feature column of services only CF 4.5 and that is the base of Spectra so I assume that covers it, RIGHT So... once I create the site on my license work copy and move it to their host site I am still doing everything legal, Right? Silly question I am sure but not having used Spectra except in the Allaire training class I just want to be SURE. ~~ Structure your ColdFusion code with Fusebox. RE: CF/Spectra Question
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Actually, Definitive Web Solutions MUST have a copy of Spectra on their server as well. Spectra works on top of ColdFusion yes, but it is a separate product. RE: CF/Spectra Question
You will need a license for Spectra on that machine. I don't know of too many hosting companies that offer service with Spectra included. Usually you would need to get a dedicated server and install CF and Spectra on it. You will also need an enterprise RDBMS like SQL Server. The Spectra license will run about $15,000 with a subscription for $7,500 or so. You will need CF Enterprise as well. You are correct that CF is the base of Spectra. Spectra consists mainly of ColdFusion custom tags, an object-based database, and the Webtop, a Spectra application used as an administrative interface to other Spectra applications. Anyway, the gist is that you need to have both CF Enterprise and Spectra on the machine to run a Spectra site. For example I have Hotmail(In the text body) and linked it to (http://www.hotmail.com) through the create Link Icon in the Editor. Now when I view the HTML Source of this through the editor, the link gets changed to http://mycurrentwebserver.www.hotmail.com Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions how to fix the problem or is it a bug in HTML Editor. RE: Spectra Question
This is a known issue. I _believe_ Rich Ragan issued a patch for this in the Developer's Exchange (essentially it 'scrubs' the input). === Raymond Camden, Cold Fusion Jedi Master for Syntegra (www.syntegra.com) Allaire Certified Instructor and Member of Team Allaire Email : [EMAIL PROTECTED] ICQ UIN : 3679482 "My ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is." - Yoda -Original Message- From: Deepak Agarwal [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2000 10:54 AM To: CF-Talk Subject: Spectra Question I am currently using HTML Editor provided by Spectra. Another Spectra Question
On the Webtop home page there is a section called "Learn more about Spectra". There are a couple of Shockwave items and the rest are RealVideo presentations. The Real stuff seems to require a username/password. Any idea what I should use? I am working with the eval version.
