It's probably VERY premature, but I will be releasing an all Java based open
souce cfc later this year for doing all sorts of zip operations.

In the meantime there is a decent zip util on cflib.org

I can't answer that for you. However, you can find out using "which", which
is available with Cygwin or UnxUtils for Win32:

Well what am I using then? ... heh ... I never installed any
command-line zip utilities in my win2k server installation. I did
install winzip... I suppose it's possible that winzip installed a
command-line utility but I didn't remember the help for it saying it
was part of winzip.

I'm pretty sure that this isn't the case. Windows 2000 has no built-in
zip/unzip functionality, and Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 support the
ZIP file format through Windows Explorer - there aren't any built-in
command-line tools available.

Re: anyone used cfx_zip??

2006-03-07 Thread Srinivasa Teja Palla
I got it working.. right now notusing coldfusion solution,

I downloaded pkzipc (command line utility for pkzip on windows) installed it.

now whenever user selects a folder he is interested in (the one from which he
selectively chooses folders and files to zip )

I first create batch file (which I run using cfexecute). first line in the
batch file is a "cd "- change directory. cfexecute now changes its directory to
the directory of interest And then teh second line is, the pkzipc command BUT
WITH FULL PATH NAME (this is what threw me off for a while. since when done
thru the command prompt, it doesn't complain. but when run thru cfexecute it
still wouldn't complain but wouldn't create the zip either) to the pkzipc
executable. So basically my batch file looke like:

cd curdirectory
"c:\program files\pkzip\pkzipc\pkzipc.exe" -add -recurse -path=current
"folder1\*.*" "folder9\*.*" "file23"

etc
Make sure you enclose the names in double quotes to take care of spaces in the
names.

Thanks all for your tiem with this. Actually the guy at pkzip helpmed me a lot
with this. He is the one who suggested to give the full path to the executable.

you could try to see if it's a tag or code problem. Failing that, maybe an

anyone used cfx_zip??

2006-03-02 Thread Srinivasa Teja Palla
Hi,

I am trying to use cfx_zip, for selective folder/file zipping. Here is what I
want to do:

given a folder, I want to selectively zip its first level children with
hierarchies retained. Meaning,

I have
c:\a
c:\a\b\file.txt
c:\a\file2.txt
c:\a\file3.txt
c:\a\c\d\file4.txt

I want to create a.zip with folder c and file "file2.txt", relative paths
retained. How do I do with cfx_zip there seems no way to specify more than
one directory in one go. :(
