Passing along: TechRepublic on Coldfusion

2007-03-19 Thread Jerry Johnson
Worth a look, from today's NetNote email:

Implement the State pattern with ColdFusion Components

The introduction of ColdFusion Components (CFCs) in ColdFusion MX
opened the door to more object-oriented programming (OOP) in CF. When
application developers start thinking about OOP, the idea of design
patterns almost always comes up. In that context, Brian Kotek
discusses the State pattern: its purpose, the problems it can solve,
and how you can implement it using CFCs.

2001-11-30 Thread Brunt, Michael

Just checked this and posted a few responses, 2 or 3 articles talk about the
impending demise of ColdFusion. If someone from Macromedia is listening
perhaps there needs to be some thrust-PR to bolster and emphasize the
longevity of ColdFusion. I did what little I could to counteract these
rumors-feelings.

I surf on a different machine than email.

I tried to navigate their site to find the article, to search the site to
find the article, then tried retyping the URL to find the article.

D'you have a nav path, or title, or shorter URL, or even a shortcut like
makeashorterurl.com?

Comment on the front page of the article -

Member Jay Eckels, on the other hand, believes ASP and MySQL would be the
best route to take: I would go with ASP/MySQL out of the choices you've
listed. I don't like ColdFusion, and I think it's on its way out.

There's a couple more when you get into the thread.

RE: techrepublic

2001-11-30 Thread Tyler M. Fitch

Reading that article hurt because the people were so uneducated on CF.
My opinion is that little question and answer segment was poorly done.
It could use some checks and balances, but since I really haven't looked
at techrepublic before I don't know how it generally operates.

The other thing is it is 3 months old, so it is too late to post any
responses to counteract the statements already made.

But it looks like it is moderated so maybe there is some way to open it
back up and add one comment for CF to counter the CF is on it's way out
line.

Carry on,

With your shield or on it.

Spartan mothers would say this to their sons going to battle. It was
believed that if you turned to run you'd drop your shield.. If you died in
combat your comrades would carry your body home on your shield. So coming
home with it or on it were the only options.
